Good luck Ebayers.

agree with your anything worth trying view,

sold dog clippers a few months ago, didn't think I would get anything for them, and was overwhelmed with bidders, got a good price. Dog coat did not do so well last week, I should have waited until it had got a bit chilly.

poshsinglemum · 04/10/2009 21:35

Ok- Im going to rack brains.

I could sell a couple of old saucepans, books, cuddly toys, brand new hair accessories that I got for car boot sale. More baby stuff. Thanks all. Addictive isn't it?

Have listed some items "here shop.ebay.co.uk/lrud3454/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg="

Is it a bit early for toys ?
we seem to have multiple magic sets and books which could all go!!

Bellared · 05/10/2009 19:45

I've had an idea for packaging! I posted some stuff out today (and had meltdown in PO cos my card got refused, I looked like a mad woman) and used the plastic from a packet of nappies that you get in the cardboard multibox 2 for £18 from Supermarkets. Its thick enough and fits in small items like kids outfits.

BakewellTarts · 05/10/2009 21:00

Had a better evening than expected and made £35.99 today so rather pleased .

Aimsmum I can empathase as I've had something similar happen. I don't mind posting abroad but ask bidders to contact me first so I can quote postage in spite of this I had someone bid on an item which would have resulted in the total postage cost exceeding the overall amount paid. I now have a default postage of £10 for abroad for anything 1kg or under. If people contact me then I will quote indivudually but at least I'm covered if they don't...hope you can reach a resolution. Perhaps message him back with the weight of your snowsuit and the Royal Mail estimated postage?

Sent the non paying bidder a message telling I was about to start the non paying bidder process. She sent me one back saying she was abroad until the 25th so couldn't pay until then.

I am a bit about that as surely if she could send me an email she could pay by paypal but anyway I am being a nice seller and saying she can pay then. If she doesn't do it quickly then I will get annoyed!

Still don't know why she made an offer last Monday and then didn't just pay straight away but hey ho.

Thank you - hadn't thought of that. Will check ebay and see how long the process can take. I presume that if I did start it and she says she will pay that she will be able to.

mel1981 · 06/10/2009 11:24

you all seem to be doing well. I eventually listed some items the other night and have more to list maybe tonight -just cant seem to get in the right frame of mind to do it! Im selling some disney figures and display shelve as collection only as it will be difficult and expensive to package and post safely, but this man has completely confused me with questions. I thought he wanted the figures seperately (He asked if I would consider posting) which as I said in llisting I will happily post just them as easy to package but now hes asking bout the shelves & postage ?- I really dont understand what he wants now LOL!! just wait for him to get back to me I guess.
Idris- I agree if she emailed why cant she pay. I had someone do this and after constant excuses they eventually paid up when I started the unpaid dispute process. Im too soft for my own good too. Good luck though.

IdrisTheDragon · 06/10/2009 11:28

I looked on ebay and you can start the unpaid process up to 45 days after so I could wait a bit.

Anyway, I tried to do it now (transaction was last Monday) and it says I can't do it before October 6th. It is the 6th today isn't it?

BakewellTarts · 06/10/2009 15:29

Aimsmum she clearly has no clue about snowsuits. I've sold a few recently and they are not light and cost a fair bit to post. you could always "send" it only for it to go missing in the post...(not very ethical but I know that I wouldn't pay for someone to have something). You would have to refund and may still get a negative though so would need to think about it first. I find overseas buyers a mixed bag like the UK mostly OK but language can be a problem and they don't read the listing.

Idris I think it has to be exactly 7 days to the minute so you may have to wait until the time your auction ended.

Mel good to have some interest in your listing though...hope it results in a sale.

Wuxiapian · 06/10/2009 20:27

Squeezing out 2 brand new items!

Bellared · 06/10/2009 21:08

I had a Post Office trauma yesterday. I said on the listing that it would be first class and cost £1.50 oh how wrong was I. They had to go 2nd class for that cost and they got the items at a right bargain price anyway. The nice lady who served me put everything through and I put my card in the oojamaflip and it got declined. I cried. Alot. Then went to the bank and only had £4 in there so I withdrew it and went back to the PO all flustered and with dribbly nose.

Anyone else had a shameful experience like that?

You all seem to be doing really well with your selling and the like. I've got a few who won the items on Friday and have not paid yet, I'll give it til Friday and email them.

notcitrus · 06/10/2009 21:49

Phew - positive feedback for the £40 item which has finally got to New York!

Bellared - I had a horrible experience a couple months back where I asked for packet 1 to be 2nd class recorded. He said "Ah, special delivery" and I had to say no, 2nd class recorded. OK he said, but then he gave me the label and I saw '1PK' so I said I wanted second not first, thank you. He told me it was only 17p more and I should have spoken clearly so he could hear me. I said that wasn't the point, it was my 17p and if he wasn't sure what I'd said he should have checked! Cue shouted abuse which I couldn't understand cos I'm deaf, so we went on to item 2, a large letter. He said it was too big. I said I'd just checked it went through the slot. He said it didn't, so I asked him to watch. Packet slides through easily. He says it also has to fit in the area shown, so I lay it on to prove it fits. He grabs it and says no. I grab it back and show it's well in the lines. He yells that it nearly touches the lines so it doesn't count. I try to argue but he yells at me and shoves coins back at me yelling 'I give you 50p of my own money to get you to go away. Get out of my post office!' I cried.

Luckily, I have a lovely PO an equal distance away even if it does have queues and only one window.

Looking what to sell next - have lots of books that would have made a lot a few years ago before everyone put theirs on Ebay and everyone wanting them bought them. Thinking about doing a car boot to get rid of lots of cheap stuff - I guess you really need a carload of stuff together and a folding table, right?

ATortoiseisBetterThanABlackCat · 07/10/2009 09:36

Bella This is why i now do postage labels through Paypal!

Not getting much interest in my items at the moment. 25 items and only 4 have 1 bid!

IdrisTheDragon · 07/10/2009 11:10

Have started the non-paying bidder process in motion. Am a bit concerned that she will probably end up giving me negative feedback as I said it would be all right to pay on 25th, but we shall see.

Bellared · 07/10/2009 19:50

Notcitrus - He sounds like a right spoon anyway and a jobsworth

I think a decorators table would do, I've got some big heavy books to get rid of, any ideas apart from Ebay cos the postage would be too much. How does Amazon work?

Tortoise - I would do the same if I had the ink!

I've still not been paid for the others. I thought it was just etiquette to pay ASAP?

ATortoiseisBetterThanABlackCat · 07/10/2009 19:58

Got my printer ink from a seller on Ebay. Great quality and much cheaper than it normally costs me.

Still no more bids! Why do i bother keep checking?

Lilyloooohhhh · 07/10/2009 20:41

my listings just the start of it.
Lego there too for who asked..
