I am in the middle of de cluttering misery and making a bit of cash out it might ease the trauma

As it's free listing at the moment, I am taking advantage and getting a few things on there.

I have at least two big bags of things that have been pushed into a cupboard to be ebayed one day . Going to try and make a start on them this evening/tomorrow.

My target is £300 by Feb half term.

Have loads of stuff lying around that really should go on eBay or has been put aside to list when it's free just never seem to get around to it

Now just need to have a look through it and work out what I may get and how long it will take to photograph and list, make sure it's actually worth doing

I'm going to join in after the success of my Christmas project I made nearly £100 over what I wanted so was pleased with the outcome.
This year I want to sell in 3 x 4mth periods and see how I go towards monies for DS1s wedding in 2016,I know its miles away but will soon come around,and I promise not to withdraw any funds for bags & shoes for myself this time,last wedding for DS1 I ended up with 4 pairs of wedding shoes to choice from.

Grumpy - I find I'm more productive if I list an item as soon as I photograph it. Do you have an app on your phone/tablet? This makes it so much easier and quicker.

Glamma - it's good to plan ahead...were you able to resell the shoes that weren't chosen for your ds' wedding?!

My paypal winnings are out of bounds, too. DS and I are going on holiday at feb half term so that is what I'm saving for.

Ds has just given me permission to sell his playmobil collection but that will have to wait a couple of weeks...too many other jobs to do first!!

Yay! Another item sold, packed and posted. I am very grateful for living 4 doors away from the post office .

No more listed yet but the ebay box has a little gap in it now so might just get a couple more things listed so I can move them into ebay box !!

Hiccup Yes and turned a profit on two pairs,the other two pairs are in my Las Vegas suitcase for next years wedding but am steering clear of any Mother of Groom stuff until beginning of next year.
I've done two sales this week already both BIN prices and done well on them so here's wishing us all a very prosperous 2015 in e-bay land.

I've just downloaded a de cluttering self help book (and signed up to the MN thread in good housekeeping!!) so am trying very hard not to bring anything new into the house, unless it's absolutely essential. Hopefully, the de cluttered stuff will raise enough funds to make all the efforts worth it.

A Las Vegas wedding sounds very exciting!! I'm hoping to go at the end of 2016 with some old school friends...just need to start saving

No major sales up to now,thinking everyone is all spent out after xmas sold just 5 items since 1st January very few viewers,what I have noticed is watchers have increased but they are on BIN items what is the point of that I wonder,if I see a BIN I go for it there and then in case I miss out but I have up to 8 watchers on 3 BIN items ?

I watch BINs if the price is higher than I want to pay. Sometimes, the seller reduces the price after a few days/weeks. Also, I might be watching the same thing on an auction, for less so I'll wait until the auction ends before making a decision on the BIN.

I'm up to nearly £300 (before fees) and 20 ish items sold and out of the house.

My decluttering book has been a revelation and I have got rid of a lot of stuff and have a big pile for ebay

hiccup have you had the invite this week-end for 100 free listings I have but don't really have too much to go on which is a terrible shame,I find it hard to get anywhere near 100 listings to be honest as I am only a private seller and get stuff for sale when I do a declutter of the house.At present going through old costume jewellery and old childrens knitting patterns,the bleedin stuff we hoard is unbelievable,one of the patterns is for a pram suit from when my DS2 was a baby he is 32 & a 6ft 2" soldier now so don't think it will fit lol.

I'll join you ladies if I may. I won't make £300 by Feb half term but I wouldn't mind aiming for £250 by Easter. I've got loads listed, but only small value items. I often only make a pound or two per item. 3 things have sold this weekend though - my first items since Christmas, so maybe things are on the up in ebayland?

Costume jewellery eh? I have a box of stuff I never wear. Mostly plastic tat or heavy stone bead necklaces. What sort of costume jewellery are you selling glammanana?

Pretty similar really Dumble when we lived abroad it was the "norm" to bling up your stuff so loads of junk type stuff still in boxes 6yrs after we moved back to UK,offered to my DD but I got short shrift from her lol,obviously not her taste,she reckons it what a grandma would wear ? what does she think I am then

I did quite well in the challenge in the run up to Christmas so I haven't got much left to list until I take de-cluttering to a new level but can I join anyway ?

I had some random stuff left up for sale on my 3 e-bay ID's, haven't listed anything new since mid December, but little bits are eventually selling so I've made another £25 since Christmas just by packing stuff up and sending it off once paid for.

Will get round to listing more stuff in February I think, as I wanted a month off from the hassles of photographing/uploading pics and doing detailed listings. I think I'll aim for £100 by Easter, although I'm not sure when that is exactly. If the weather warms up a bit by then I could venture out to the garden shed and see what's surplus to requirement in there as it's crammed with stuff.

why do you have 3 ebay ids? I find it bad enough managing my 1!! Just taken lots to the refuge, leaving a pile of ebay so off to sort and photograph. £300 by easter would be fabulous!

springlaong Each private ebay ID is given 20 free listings per month with just final value fees to pay (+ paypal charges) so if you're selling quite a lot of low value items it really makes a difference to the amount you end up with.

I tick the relist once for free box but after one free relist, each re-list uses up one of my 20 free listings so when you've get stuff that hasn't sold first time round it helps to have more than 20 free listings per month.

Initially I listed things 3 times ( I think you got 2 or 3 free relists on each item last summer) and then if not sold it goes in the charity shop bag as often it's the cost of p&p on top which is making it not sell and I can't reduce the price any further but it would probably sell ok in a charity shop where the buyer hasn't got p&p to pay.

I will join in, although my aim is £500 for the year - I don't want to set a separate target for Easter. I have ebayed most of the "easy" things that I have sorted out to get rid of over the past couple of years, so a lot of what's left requires some work before listing. Of course, I also want to find "new" stuff to list. I have been lurking on all of the decluttering threads and hope that 2015 is the year I finally sort out the mounds of stuff teetering everywhere.

Purplefrog - I've been following the mk threads and it's making such a difference. I, too, have ebayed most of my easy stuff and am left with a pile of clothes that need to be rewashed and ironed before they can be listed. However, I am finding new things to ebay all the time as I work through the house, kondoing everything!! Also, I know there are a couple of big boxes of clothes for ebay, hidden at the back of a very big cupboard. They may have to wait until later in the year to be dealt with...too overwhelming now.

Glamma - no, I didn't get the 100 free listings...i rarely do . I list all my items with a fixed price and make sure I've set my price so I still have roughly the amount I want for each item after fees.

My listings are selling, gradually. It seems to come in fits and starts.

I seem to have gone through a phase of not receiving feedback over the last few weeks. I don't know if it's because of Christmas and people are too busy. Anyway, it appears to have started back up again and nearly everything I've sold in the last 2 weeks has had good fb. I start getting paranoid when people don't leave any

I've decided most of my stuff must be on at too high a price. I admit I got sick of selling things in auctions and getting 99p for them, so I changed to fixed price listings and priced things at what I felt they were truly worth. Trouble is, no-one else seems to agree! I have approximately 100 items for sale and have only sold 5 this month (and one of those was at a lower price than I was originally asking). Maybe it's time to go back to 99p listings?

Also, I can't work out whether it is better to offer free postage and include p&p in the asking price, or whether to charge p&p separately. If you offer free postage, people seem to think you are asking too much for the item without realising that sometimes half the cost is p&p. On the other hand, ebay reward you for offering free postage. Has anyone come to any conclusion about this?

Dumble I do inclusive P&P on all my stuff and it evens its self out really,if I wrap a thin ie: blouse and wrap it flat I will most times get away with large letter postage of £1.20 and shoes (flats or lowish heels) if packed side by side will be £2.80 so as long as I am making £5 on deal I am happy,example pricing at £7.99 for shoes & £5.99 for a Next or Boden blouse a few of these add up nicely over the month and postage off sets each other anything bigger goes My Hermes at max £3.80 for 2kg.Items over £15.00 I always pay extra for tracking as people can take the mick now with INRs so if they say not received I am not stung for more than £15 if it is a cheeky buyer messing about.

hi ladies not had much internet access but am back and with more determination than ever. Target £500. Listed 70. two will sell. Totally bizarre are the UGG flip flops 80 views and 15 watchers 2 bids i think they are a bit ? but selling for my niece.

I always quote for recorded postage and think this can sometimes put people off, especially on cheaper items.

After a slow start to this month, I have sold 3 items in the past 2 days! I am feeling much more positive about eBay today. Most of my stuff at the moment is Fixed Price with Best Offers, but I think sometimes that people just look at the Fixed Price and pass over it if it is too high. I've a mixture of free P&P and separate postage. I am also not sure what is best. When I am searching on eBay I always list things in order of Price+Postage, so it doesn't matter to me, but it is more difficult to ask for discount if buying multiple things from the same seller.

Not too shabby sold about 20 things yesterday including the UGG flip flops, 40 items relisted. massive decluttering here. I try to price things for the least i want and also what i think i would pay for them. IYSWIM.Hope it is free listing this week as need some of the re listed items to sell as just cost me over £10 pounds in listing fees :)

Purple - I do the same as you with postage. It does make it harder for me to work out how much I'm actually getting after fees etc

Mmmminx - Welcome! Sales are sales so all good I am always surprised by the things that sell straightaway and the things that are constantly being relisted!

I haven't listed much over the last couple of weeks but the other things are selling slowly. I've still got about 20 things on the go but half of them finish tomorrow.

One more day of work then I'm off for three days so will be listing as much as I can...once I've decluttered it into the ebay pile

Hi ladies, declutter update,I have had some BIN sales these past two days which surprised me as I only put them on yesterday at the beginning of my 20 free listings so all the more to go into Las Vegas pot for the wedding spends,I put items on that had not been on before as I had relisted quite a few times with some stuff so the change may have worked.Up to just under £150 for January so not too bad really seeing that sales where so slow across the board. Good luck selling everyone
