HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 30/12/2014 16:24

Anyone fancy joining me?

I am in the middle of de cluttering misery and making a bit of cash out it might ease the trauma Grin

As it's free listing at the moment, I am taking advantage and getting a few things on there.

I have at least two big bags of things that have been pushed into a cupboard to be ebayed one day Hmm. Going to try and make a start on them this evening/tomorrow.

My target is £300 by Feb half term.

Interestingly, I have had some luck selling some empty pandora charm boxes - presumably so an eBayer can buy a charm and my empty box, put the two together and then present them as the complete item.

PurpleFrog · 06/05/2015 16:49

I had a good Bank Holiday weekend - I posted 6 items yesterday. I also got free listing (Sun-Tues) so got some re-lists done and some new items on. Now that it is getting near summer I have some beach shoes and flippers to list. Think I'll try Facebook with them first, though.

I really need to get some more decluttering done...

glammanana · 10/05/2015 11:36

Well back from holidays and must say Majorca is lovely this time of year quiet part of the Island plenty of good food and drink so I'm all topped up and ready to go again on my Las Vegas mission lol.
I got back to FLW up until the Tuesday so just managed to get items back on and made 6 sales up until this morning 2 where good prices on Boden dresses so happy about that.
I have however gone against my promise not to raid pay-pal and bought myself a Next jacket in black/grey animal print edge to edge style for the summer,a girl needs a nice jacket doesn't she ??
I hope everyone is selling something and not having any problems,I am waiting to see if the shift from pay-pal will effect us in anyway as I can't understand what will happen but I'm sure someone can explain it clearly in the next couple of weeks.

Greymalkin · 10/05/2015 18:31

Yes glamma I saw that there are changes afoot too, haven't fully read up on it yet though. Glad you had a good break and all motivated for Vegas.

I have a load of rubbish listed to finish to night, and not surprisingly, none of it is selling. I have got my act together and found more decent stuff which is all on scheduled listings for tonight so hopefully that will kick start me again.

I have shed loads of tuition fees due in instalments over the next two years and I really have to scrape the money together. Must be more proactive!

glammanana · 17/05/2015 15:27

Well no FLW this time around just offer of 20% off FVF thats not a very good incentive really, some people where offered 100 free listings for 1 day only so you would really have to have a Sunday free all day which is not realistic if you have a family to see too,I was hoping to put some new stuff on but have been spoilt with the FLW and having 3 days to get them up and running.
I need to get a wriggle on and find a "niche" market of some sort and its not for want of trying lol.

PurpleFrog · 17/05/2015 21:33

glammanana - I have got 100 Free listings for today only and 50% off FVFs. This is the first time our offers seem to have differed...

Of course, since it is for today only I have only managed 4 new listings, and 1 re-list (so far). I have another 4 items finishing in the next 30 minutes, so the number of re-lists will probably rise to 5! Grin

I really need to get organised and prepare stuff in advance so that I can properly take advantage of offers like this. I think I'll just have a trawl through my unsold items to see if there is anything else worth another whirl.

millymae · 17/05/2015 22:06

I only got 40% of FVF for today only, but have been too busy to list anything.

PurpleFrog · 17/05/2015 22:10

Gosh! I wonder how I managed to get 50%?

I have rooted around and managed to use up 15 of my 100 free allocation. I wonder if I should buy a crystal ball for next time? Wink

Kentlady1664 · 18/05/2015 23:52

Wow, I'm impressed- now you've inspired me to get selling! What sells best?

I was lucky to get free 100 listing this last week-end and managed to get new listings on OK,I decided to wait until Mon-Tuesday to relist other stuff but had an accident and broke my right arm after a fall on Monday so was in A&E Monday/Tuesday am. Grrrr.Pain now controlled so can type with Lhand OK but things will will have to wait a while now,I have however sold 3 of my new listings and raised £41.00 this week, good job the fall happened now and not before my hols 3 weeks ago I would have been more gutted than I am.

PurpleFrog · 03/06/2015 19:35

Oh glammanana Sad I hope it's not too long until you are back to normal.

I got the 100 free listings this weekend as well, but didn't actually make much use of them. I got one new item listed, well 2 I suppose as I also bundled one old item with a couple of new ones in the same listing. I also relisted 5 items. It was paper recycling day last Thursday so I closed some BINs on Thursday morning and threw out some magazines, comics and a guidebook that had been listed multiple times.

mmmminx - Great minds think alike! That is my new plan as well - to try and get 20 new items up each month using the 20 standard free listings and use any offers for relists. I really need to find some enthusiasm for sorting out some more items. I am trying to concentrate on summer stuff just now, as the selling window for them can be quite small. I also put some stuff on Facebook at the weekend, but no interest yet. I still have to list some of it on Gumtree as well.

Dumbledoresgirl · 04/06/2015 10:52

Hello everyone. Ouch Glammanana!

I am still ebaying though hardly making any money now. I was really annoyed with the free listing weekend this weekend. I didn't read it properly and relisted all my unsold stuff only to see that only auction and best offer listings counted. So all the other things I relisted came out of June's 20 free listings and I only have 7 left. Just as I was about to revitalise my listings with some new items. I keep telling myself to take a break from ebay - maybe now I will. Well, after I have used up those 7 free listings of course! Wink

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 06/06/2015 18:57

Hi everyone,

I just came onto the topic to look for a challenge thread, opened this one and realised I started it!!

Sorry for being so quiet for so long. I think I lost my eBay-mojo. In fact, I think I lost all motivation to do anything at home. As a result, I am living in total chaos and absolutely hate it!!

My eBay pile has been culled and two bags of clothes have gone to the charity shop. I am only listing things for a minimum of £10 (think I've said that before Blush!!). Despite this, the pile is absurdly huge. Listed 5 items today and relisted 7 others. Going to try and list a couple more this evening before it gets too dark to photograph the items.

Have sold a few things over the last couple of months but definitely haven't kept to the PayPal ban. Will try harder Grin. Ds and I are going on holiday in 5 weeks so could do with a healthy PP balance to go away with.

OP posts:
glammanana · 19/06/2015 08:21

Hey Hiccup, give yourself a swift kick and get back to selling those items just think how much extra you will have for your holidays babe ??
I am still having pain from the fall I had and the broken shoulder will take a while to heal but am managing with left arm only so things taking twice as long to list but sales are not too bad really and new stuff seems to be selling OK,I have kept to not raiding my paypal but it is tempting sometimes lol. This week I have sold £47 worth of stuff so not really a good week, keep it up and you will see that balance getting bigger. xxx

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 19/06/2015 09:01

Aw, sorry to hear you're still in pain Sad.

I've had a bit of a change of plan. All the boxes of clothes I have been hoarding holding onto, with the intention of ebaying, have all been decluttered Shock. Even the clothes I've recently shrunk out of! I sent three huge bags to my friend to rummage through and whatever she doesn't want will go to the charity shop.

This is a huge breakthrough for me but only the tip of the iceberg.

I do have a couple of big boxes with other things for eBay but have decided that anything I think the charity shop can sell can go there but I have lots of buggy parts and other nursery items that I don't think will sell at a charity shop so will plough on with them.

I think I'll put them on fixed price for a week at a time and see how I go. I don't want to be dealing with any awkward buyers just before I go away!!

OP posts:
glammanana · 28/06/2015 10:24

Got an invite for 100 free listings to-day so am happy about that,I have a few summer dresses which need to go but think maybe I am a wee bit late listing them they are all size 10 and I don't think I shall ever see that size again in my life-time lol.
Does anyone know how to find which sale cost me a defect I have tried to find it on my DSR rating but am having trouble it is showing just one unhappy customer for May/June but I can't find the details.??

glammanana - glad the shoulder isn't preventing you listing. I got the free listing offer as well, but I am currently running down my eBaying as I go on holiday soon. I have one listing left which finishes tomorrow evening. Assuming that doesn't sell, I will have made £553.28 profit from the first 6 months of this year! Shock That is a record! Grin I have looked back on this thread and my aim was to make over £500 this year. So, I guess I will just have to see how close to £1000 I can get by the end of the year!

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 30/06/2015 10:36

Well, I had been having a very quiet couple of weeks. Haven't listed anything new since I decided to charity shop everything and planned to just stick with the 10 or so items already listed on fixed price. 4 have sold over the last 24hours Shock.

The rest still have about another week but I might finish them early. Feeling stressed enough preparing to go away without adding that to the mix!

However, this flurry of sales has made me rethink whether I should maybe stick with ebaying afterall. I just have to be more ruthless about what is actually going to get listed and what is going to sit in a box year after year!!!

OP posts:
PurpleFrog · 30/06/2015 11:56

HiccupHaddockHorrendous - I have the same dilemmas. My pile on the upstairs landing of stuff to eBay has definitely been shrinking this year. Some bits need things done to them or pieces/instructions found before they can be listed. The others that I keep passing over without listing really need decisions. I have been a bit more ruthless and as a result I have 4 or 5 summer items I have decided to take to the charity shop instead of eBaying. I might try to add to that this week and get a small bag delivered before I go away, since I am not listing anything this week.

When I get back I hope to get some serious sorting-out done. We have (almost) decided to replace our living room and dining room carpet. That will require a lot of stuff from large Ikea units to be temporarily packed into boxes. Gulp! Or maybe I will just buy a large rug to cover the threadbare bits...

glammanana · 13/07/2015 08:29

Hiccup I had the 100 listing offer this week-end and relisted stuff I have had hanging around for quite a while and 3 of them sold straight away on BIN,they all must have been relisted about 5/6 times so there is always a buyer somewhere lol.
I've not done too much with this stupid broken shoulder joint but am slowly getting back to normal I need to do a massive declutter after the summer and put summer stuff away for a while or charity shop it.
Funds not too bad and I am still leaving pay-pal alone to mount up for wedding so am being a good girl and not spending.Smile

HiccupHaddockHorrendous · 13/07/2015 08:53

I will change my settings so I get email notifications and maybe I'll get the 100 free listings then.

Another few big bags of clothes have been sent to the charity shop...even the big Boden coat I'd been hanging onto. I'm just so fed up of having no space to do anything, it had to go.

I have still got a big box of things that will be listed after my hols (going this week!!!) but at the moment, my eBay watching and selling pages are empty ShockGrin

PurpleFrog · 13/07/2015 12:43

I am back from my holidays.

I have/had the offer this Sun-Tues as well, so I have re-listed 7 items so far. I hope to get a few new things up over the next two evenings. June and July are traditionally quieter months on eBay but I suppose it depends what you are selling.

I did take a carrier bag to a Charity Shop before I went away. I got rid of around 10-12 items. I suppose I should really have made a note of what I took, to stop me looking for the things in a few months time. I spent time one recent weekend researching a ceramic duck, but when I came to list it I couldn't find it at all. I have come to the conclusion it must have already gone to the Charity Shop... Blush

glammanana · 22/07/2015 20:41

Hi girls just to tell you all to check your messages on ebay for 100 free listing from 22-27th July (now til next Tuesday) I just got the message on my ebay page so a few extra days to sort stuff out if you have anything hanging about.
