Reserve would be too high. I'd be happy with £35 but if I relist this weekend then its going to cost money. Need to sell as quick as possible so can't wait for another free listing.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 20/04/2012 21:34

Can you suggest to the potential buyer that you would be happy with £40 and then let them argue you down to £35?

Tortoise · 20/04/2012 22:45

Maybe but start price was £35. I'm just getting so stressed about finding the money for mums flights. I shouldn't have agreed to it really.Sad
Will see what else I can list this weekend and will probably have to edit listings before re-listing so most start at 99p.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 20/04/2012 22:51

Oh dear Tortoise Sad How long have you got?

Tortoise · 20/04/2012 23:49

I think flights are booked for 2nd may. She's asked me to give her as much back of the cost before they leave which I think will be end of may. Plus I will need to feed her and my brother during the time they are here.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 21/04/2012 08:40

That is pretty stressful.

Have you got a lot more to sell?

Gef · 21/04/2012 11:29

"Gef what are you selling that has attracted so many watchers?"

Kids outdoor play equipment, a few clothes, and a couple of quite specialised collectibles.(sp?)

140 watchers over 12 items now, bids up to £25.

carrotsandcelery · 21/04/2012 11:32

My fancy dress stuff seems to be hotting up. It has been a much more entertaining week this week as more bids have trickled in over the course of the week. It is a little consolation that the weekend is at it's end if all your listings finish on a Sunday night.

Tortoise · 21/04/2012 13:02

Mainly clothes which won't make much money.
DDs have lots of dressing up clothes which rarely get used until I mention getting rid!
Need to dig out the ello which probably won't make much money.
Feeling very stressed!

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 21/04/2012 13:07

My ello hasn't sold yet Tortoise.

Have you any perfumes and aftershaves to sell? They have been my biggest earners.

Our Ponyville also made good money.

I know you already sell console games.

Have you any vintage toys? eg old Action Men or Sindys etc from the 70's because Cointreau seems to be doing well with her Pippa dolls.

Vintage Fisher Price also seemed to sell well a while back - I don't know if that is still the case.

Playmobil also sells well - I know you love it - are there any bits you have got that you the dcs no longer play with.

I have also made a bit selling shoes the dcs have outgrown. Any outgrown trainers etc which are desirable labels?

Anyone else know the big earners on ebay?

ragged · 21/04/2012 16:38

Popular.ebay.co.uk, there are some other sites & "marketplace tools" that try to indicate what items sell best.

I sold a monitor which buyer collected next day paying cash & has left me nice f/back already. He was even friendly to my boisterous kids. Kind of restores my faith in humanity!

Tortoise · 21/04/2012 16:39

No I haven't got any perfumes or after shave.
Ponyville all previously sold.
Massive box of actionmen in loft but all quite modern and DS2 hopes they will make him money one day lol. Not worth much last time I looked.
Tbh, although they love the playmobil, it isn't played with much but I know they won't let it go yet.
DD1 wants to get rid of dolls pram. Might make £10 on that.
Also have an old electronic game to sell which could make £20 if I'm lucky!
Shoes all get destroyed by my lot!

Appreciate all the help.Smile

Any really good designer brands to look out for in charity shop?

The bags in charity shops are sometimes worth a look. I don't know many brands but Radley used to sell quite well. I would check completed listings first though.

Moshi Monsters, the little moshlings which come in the blind packs or in packs of 5 sell well if you have a rare one (some go for about £15).

I wish I could be more help Tortoise.

Tortoise · 21/04/2012 19:06

I've got a radley pencil case from the shop, manager gave it to DDs when they helped out with me, but how can I be sure its genuine?

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 21/04/2012 20:11

That, I don't know Tortoise. Could you sell it as Radley style bag? Would that reduce the price a lot?

Tortoise · 21/04/2012 21:50

Not sure tbh could lose out if was real.

Listed a few items tonight.
3 watchers on build a bear my melody teddy and one question asking for £15 bin. I declined as could get double that. Seems to be a rare one.
Also 3 watchers on tennis racket.
All within half an hour of listing so fingers crossed for lots of bids!

Will list rest tomorrow night.Smile

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 21/04/2012 21:52

Fingers crossed for you Tortoise.

We have 20 bids so far on about 9 items. There are a lot of watchers on other things so I am hoping they become bidders too.

Tortoise · 21/04/2012 22:16

My melody has a bid already! It's exciting lol! Started it at 99p.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 21/04/2012 22:18

It's great fun when it goes like that Tortoise.

I am looking forward to tomorrow night and watching the final bids come in [sheltered life]

CointreauVersial · 22/04/2012 00:36

You are not allowed to say things like "Radley-style" - it's called keyword spamming, and you can get in trouble with eBay.

Anyway, I got my first Neutral FB today. Shock Possibly justified; I sold a 99p top, and the comment was that a small section of the hem had come down (I didn't notice) and the postage was a bit high. If she'd contacted me I would certainly have given her a partial refund, but hey, I'll survive. At least it wasn't a big red Negative.

11 Pippa items have bids now, and we're up to £77. There are 18 further items with no bids but plenty of watchers. Problem is, I'm so thrilled by watching the bids roll in that I haven't got round to preparing next week's listing. And I have a very busy weekend next weekend, so won't have time to list much then.

CointreauVersial · 22/04/2012 00:38

Tortoise, don't pirce stuff down to 99p just to get free listing - the charge is only 15p up to £4.99, so if you start something at (say) £1.99 you've already covered the extra fee and made yourself a bit more money. Otherwise you end up just giving stuff away.

Tortoise · 22/04/2012 08:27

That's true Cointreau. Most of the listings are ok at 99p. I started the tennis racket higher. I'm hoping the mini Boden nighties go higher than 99p. Already have a bid on both and 2 watchers.

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 22/04/2012 09:56

I have had more bids overnight so we are up to about £55. This is a much more exciting week than last week Grin

I always prefer to try the higher prices on free listing weekends a few times and then drop my prices if things don't sell. I am sick of selling things for 99p tbh. I don't mind for wee bits and bobs but decent immaculate tops from Next should sell for more. I am happier to have fewer bidders because of it and not feel I have given stuff away.

carrotsandcelery · 22/04/2012 11:58

I have been doing a little happy dance around the kitchen as we have a bid on dd's My Meebas. The blinking thing gives me the heebie jeebies and I will be delighted for it to go to someone who can love it Grin

Hurrah!
