My total is £516 so far!

I'm not going to include the £400 buggy to the challenge though as it's part of an ongoing buying and selling experiment to see if I can end up with a cost-neutral ABC buggy to suit my needs. Just as I get close to achieving my goal, I go and buy another bit Blush.

I made an amazing £104 for the Playmobil dolls house expansion floor ShockShock.

I didn't plan these auctions very well...have been away again since Sunday so missed the last two days of the auctions and had quite a few questions which I didn't get to answer so possibly lost a couple of bidders.

I've got a few more auction ending in 2 days but they were auctions for clothes and perfume that I set up with the intention of adding photos and description but haven't got around to doing it yet. I wonder if it's worth doing it now or just waiting for another free listing.

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 12:33

mogs Shock about your playmobil expansion floor. We have a spare staircase, brand new in its original bag. I must investigate ;0)
Tortoise I don't know what to do about your colour problem. Would the buyer accept a small discount? Or you could offer refund on return (at their cost). It doesn't sound like it is your fault but you probably need to protect your feedback by being cooperative, without losing money.

CointreauVersial · 17/04/2012 12:57

Tortoise - do you state in your listing "No Returns"?

I guess it comes down to how resaleable the top is / how polite the buyer is / how charitable you are feeling as to whether you accept the return.

I've taken a return once - she just said it wasn't what she expected. I couldn't be bothered to argue!

Funnily enough, I sold a lampshade for £1 at the car boot sale last weekend, and an hour later she came back remanding a refund because her husband didn't like it. Grin Perhaps she thought she was in Marks & Spencers.

Anyway, I made £22.50 last night, but these were all ancient relists, so I was happy to make anything.

Next Sunday's finishers are up to £43 already, with the Pippa Dolls and their wardrobe leading the charge. 21 watchers already for the most desirable doll (Penny with Red Hair).

CointreauVersial · 17/04/2012 12:57

demanding a refund.....

Tortoise · 17/04/2012 14:27

Thanks for replies.
Yes, I have info set to no refunds but would of course refund if it was my error.
See, i feel that the photo clearly showed colour and that they bought it knowing the colour so why should I loose money by refunding. Will think about it for rest of day and reply to them later.

Tortoise I would just tell her to return for a refund - or she may open not as described case and get nasty - isn't worth the upset I reckon.

hazchem · 17/04/2012 15:46

Bit of an update from me.
Have made £18 so far. Have a perfume for sale which is going well.
only have five things listed but spending the week washing an ironing as have dropped a dress size and they should go on this weekend.

Oblomov · 17/04/2012 16:09

I would like to join please. We need to make £800 in 3 weeks. Yes, I know, a big ask. I lost my job, and my new one doesn't start for a few weeks, and our mortgage goes out on the 1st. We're screwed.
I listed 3 items today. Dh did 3 last night. We have 10 things atleast that could go for atleast £50. Dh has some roof racks and a cd changer for a car. They go for maybe not £50 but £25-£30, hopefully. I listed some very expensive suitcases. But the trouble is, my items, are one offs, so I can't even copy and paste a completed item for our suitcase, for e.g. Took me ages to find product details, then get a courier price, measure and weigh the bloody thing.
We are never going to get to our total. Sad
How do you all find the time/energy/motivation. I'm cream crackered and have only listed 3 items !!

jardy · 17/04/2012 18:28

Oblomov keep going and it gets easier. It is tiring but rewarding.I am not sure how you will make £800 in 3 weeks as you need lots of things to make that kind of money, but you have made a start and Good Luck!

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 18:38

Oblomov I am sorry to hear about your situation. Have you contacted your mortgage provider. I suspect they would be happy to cooperate with you, rather have a payment not made. I would get in touch with them asap and explain what is going on.

jardy · 17/04/2012 20:18

I think I will definatly make bronze,I have made about £300 since been inspired by the thread in January, when I moaned about LOSING money on ebay!
I am well pleased with myself.By the way, does anyone recommend a courier for heavy items?I looked at Courier Service but I was put off by a dropping off point as I thought it could be miles away. However it was a fraction of what Royal mail wanted to charge. In the end I paid £10:50 to post an item weighing 6 kg to London from the North, via Royal Mail.I think a courier quoted me £4.Have you ever sent anything really big or heavy via courier,eg pram or tent? How did you find the experience?Anyone you could recommend?PS I sold the item for just over £20 and as I stated free postage didn`t make a lot,but DID find it satisfying !Smile

Tortoise · 17/04/2012 21:06

Jardy couriers I use are on interparcel website. Normally city link for about £10. Have also used parcels2go.

Oooh exciting I'm making £11! Think I'll be happy if I can scrape bronze!

jardy · 18/04/2012 16:56

Thank you Tortoise

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 18/04/2012 19:44

Well I made £30 ish after fees for my first lot of sales. Only 9 items of 25 sold, barely any bids aprt from on one or two items, what a rubbish week! Haven't got anything listed at the minute, need to figure out the new postage costs as they'll be sent after the prices go up more than likely.

hazchem · 18/04/2012 19:46

I'd like to offer combined postage for my items. I can see on ebay a section that lets you create a combined postage rule but every time I do it the rule doesn't stay.

Any advice?

SomebodySaveMe · 18/04/2012 19:56

Shameless link to mine as they end in about 10 minutes!
Looking like I will have made about £20 and some bits to re-list

nsjuly · 18/04/2012 20:14

They look good somebodysaveme, best of luck!

I have never sold on ebay before, although I have bought plenty. This is a list of my items for sale at the moment www.ebay.co.uk/sch/usparkle!/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 I would really appreciate any comments or criticisms if anyone has time to look please!

SomebodySaveMe · 18/04/2012 20:22

If DD was the next size up I'd be bidding on the Next jacket!

nsjuly · 18/04/2012 20:43

Ah thanks SSM! :)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 18/04/2012 21:11

Just a quick question about payments.

if a buyer doens't pay within 5 days is it best practice to message them to see if there's a reason for non-payment or just open an unpaid item dispute?

Tortoise · 18/04/2012 21:27

With non payers I re-send invoice after 3 days then after 5 days I send an email. If nothing after 7 days of item ending, I open dispute.

Sounds like good tactics - thanks Tortoise.

baabi · 18/04/2012 21:44

Everybody seems to be doing so well! I managed to sell half of last week's listings so not too bad, it was a pain packing everything though! Re-listed over the weekend and listed some of DD's Summer dresses. Probably should have left them to list closer to Summer but I am fed up of moving them from wardrobe to wardrobe. I need the space!
