PoohBear I sold loads last week and was worried about the post office but people sold in dribs and drabs so I just took a few at a time as they were paid for. I do live in a little village with a local post office though and it is right beside the school so it is not a big deal for me to go there on a daily or twice daily basis.

dizzyday07 · 30/04/2012 10:35

I only managed a few relists this weekend and I need to check out the postage rates due to the new RM increases!

PoohBearsHole · 30/04/2012 11:16

It was practically a full time job and frankly am in awe of myself, now though I can't be bothered to look to see how many hits they have got as it is just too much of a hassle Grin but I can only see this as a good thing!

I admit though my photo's are a bit crap on some so I am going to have to redo them I think to get a proper old go at some of them. I am not sure if I am allowed to link to my page on ebay so I won't unless anyone wants to give me their honest opinion of how shit rubbish the pics are.

I thought I would put everything on that I have been meaning to and at a price I would be willing to part with it as fed up of people getting lovely things for 99p (3 white company dresses last week WITH tights at 99p each Sad)

carrotsandcelery · 30/04/2012 12:35

I have a bid already and a handful of watchers.

I only actually have 54 things listed so must have sold 46 things this month.

I agree about prices. List it for what you are willing to sell it for. You get less of a bidding war but you don't feel cheated.

weirdscience · 30/04/2012 22:28

I've had lots of questions about my necklace from people in Italy. I have added an international signed for postage option of £8.20 hoping that doesn't put people off but that appears to be the cost going by the royal mail website. One buyer has said they are unable to bid and I need to change my settings but I can't see where I have anything set to uk only. Has anyone else had this?

PoohBearsHole · 30/04/2012 22:37

Well things have bids Grin happy about that. Obviously people know something I don't as I have a frugi dress with24 watchers. Brill but didn't realise that they were so popular! Gave me a real shock Confused am now having wobbles about my listings in the fashion of 'don't I really want to keep that' Blush

Tortoise · 01/05/2012 07:37

I probably won't be around much for the next few weeks. My mum and brother arrive in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
I do hope to still list a few bits and will re-list all unsold later.

Can I come and join you lot?

I started ebaying yesterday. Only have 14 things listed. 3 had bids within 2 hours which I wasn't expecting :)

I've only got my iPhone to go through. Anyone else just eBay via a phone? It was surprisingly easy but any tips would be appreciated.

I'm seriously decluttering because I'm moving soon. Now I'm looking around at everything to see if I can chuck it on.... Poor kids best touch all their toys at least once a week or they're gone!

mogs0 · 01/05/2012 08:36

Poohbear - I felt the same about three handbags recently. Two sold for a pretty good price so I was happy enough to pack them up but I was a bit sad sending them at the post office Blush. The third bag didn't get a bid and someone emailed after the end of auction asking to BIN for the start price of £4.99. I had been hoping it would go higher than that so declined the offer and kept the bag. I might relist it over the next few weeks as I haven't actually used it since listing.

Tortoise - hope you have a lovely time with your mum here...you could probably do with some time off ebaying after raising the money for flights!

Carrots - well done on the bids and watchers...fingers crossed for a good selling week!

Charlie - I mainly eBay from my iPad app but if I need to edit anything I have to go on the computer to do it. Good luck with your listings!! It does become quite addictive Grin.

Weirdscience - I think you might need to look in account/settings to allow overseas bidders. Hope you get a good price for the necklace!

I have bids on four out of eight items ending tomorrow. I'm really hoping the other four items get a bid because I want to empty the eBay box this month! Even if it all goes at the start price of £2.99 I'll be pleased.

White co pjs are now at £11 Shock...I'm not sure that I paid that much for them when I bought them Blush. Annoyingly, the other White co pjs don't have a single bid so far Confused.

carrotsandcelery · 01/05/2012 08:42

weird you can put a note in your listing for overseas bidders to contact you and you will put them on your exemption list. I found this easier than opening up my listing to international buyers which, despite advice, I couldn't manage to do.

I just put the specific buyers name in to my list so they can bid. It also stops people bidding from countries I haven't agreed to post to.

carrotsandcelery · 01/05/2012 09:56

My non payer has finally paid from last week after a polite email and all of this week's have now paid so the last 2 parcels are wrapped and waiting in the hallway.

Fingers crossed everyone is happy with their purchases.

Tortoise · 01/05/2012 10:09

Mogs I had that with the mini Boden nighties. One ended on £17 the other £5.50!

OP posts:
PoohBearsHole · 01/05/2012 10:40

Mogs - some of the strangest things happen on ebay imho. I have a Stella McCartney for Gap dress on which hasn't got bids but lots of interest....... it is very sweet but honestly a bit cinderellaesque (before she is transformed to princess) and an odd colour for a small child........but it is designer doncha know! If I had known it was going to have some interest I would have put it on before!

dizzyday07 · 01/05/2012 10:41

I'm looking to spend some of the ££ made as DD wants more Lego (which is the reason we sold her Duplo!). I found a HUGE bundle close to me last night and as it had a high BIN price I decided to be cheeky and place a bid so this disappears Blush.

This was a @1am. Logged on this morning to find out there were 4 more bids made at 6.30am all within a minute of each other (I'm now losing) and there is still 5 days to go. The bidders identities are protected (private listing) so I have my suspicions that all is not kosher.

PoohBearsHole · 01/05/2012 10:45

dizzy - I hope no one thinks I am dodgey as I keep all my bidders private - although it isn't intentional I am just a bit ludditey when it comes to changing settings! [blulsh]

PoohBearsHole · 01/05/2012 10:59

Sorry, boss crept over my shoulder Blush
What I meant to ask is if it puts bidders off if the privacy setting is on?

nsjuly · 01/05/2012 11:09

I have 12 things ending in the next few hours, only 2 have bids so far :-( Fingers crossed they will sell although 4 things don't have any watchers at all. 3 of them are brand new with tags items from Gymboree. I probably put them on too high but can re-list at 99p if they don't go this time I guess.

notcitrus · 01/05/2012 11:55

Have been paid for both buggy (cash!) and raincover, so good start there. I have some watchers on the Baby Bjorn stuff and a Monsoon dress ending next Sunday.

Not sure what else I have to sell until MrNC sorts out more bits of computer from upgrading the tellybox (homemade Tivo...) I thought about grobags as I have at least a dozen to spare but they make about 99p so the charity shop can have them.

And just bought a baby swing as ours have both died. Got a half-price bargain on Ebay but noticed half the cost had to go on credit card as the Paypal balance has run out...

I'd think it odd if the privacy setting was on - I've only seen it on for items like corsets/fetish clothes where people might not want their family knowing what they were looking at.

Oh, question - where is a good place to sell washable nappies and wraps? Ebay gave me a warning a couple years ago as it never occurred to me a wrap was 'underwear' so don't want to try sneaking them on there.

carrotsandcelery · 01/05/2012 12:08

I seem to remember there were specialist sites for cloth nappies nocitrus. I think AngelDog used one so you could try pming her for information.

The 6am bidding war sounds a bit suspicious if you ask me. I can understand oner person bidding at that time but it is a bit of a coincidence if a bidding war erupts.

I don't know about privacy settings though. I think I have my bidders as private and just assumed people would want it that way. I am intrigued to hear more about it.

PoohBearsHole · 01/05/2012 12:17

Yeah the 6am is a bit weird, but that is only because I find 6am to be night time in my house (in my eyes!) but am going to have a rethink about the privacy thing, I suppose it never occured to me as I can see who is bidding being the seller so it never occured to me as a buyer though!

weirdscience · 01/05/2012 12:59

Thanks I think I have managed to change my settings to allow people from europe to bid, but I have asked them to come back to me if there are still any problems, but I hope it works.

I have 10 things ending tonight, most have bids or at least watchers, so hopefully I will make a little more tonight. There is a localish woman purchased 2 of my things who is apparently watching more than wants to come and pick everything up, which will save a trip to the PO.

6am bidding frenzy does sound a bit strange, does the lego finish today? I was watching something that finished really early on Sunday morning, I placed a bid late on sat night with the intention of getting up early on Sunday morning, but then never and I missed out, so I guess lots of people do get up early to bid?

Byeckerslike · 01/05/2012 13:01

Notcitrus try natural mamas fsot board for selling cloth nappies

dizzyday07 · 01/05/2012 13:02

It does say that it's a private listing right at the bottom (which I never noticed last night) and wouldn't necessarily have put me off but yes I think it's the bidding activity that seems a bit odd to me.

There is another listing that was "sold" but has been relisted and 2 of the bidders on it the first time around had 100% activity with the seller. Maybe I'm just too suspicious!

Oblomov · 01/05/2012 14:08

Mogs, e-bay is wierd. things you think will sell, don't. and then you have a bidding war over something you didn't think anyone would buy. 'Ain't nought as queer as folk'.
Missed the free listing weekend. Bugger!
Am supposed to be off on holiday this weekend, so can not really list for this weekend.
Not good. only 2 of dh'd things sold, for total £70, so we really do need to get listing.

nsjuly · 01/05/2012 15:21

Well only 4 out of my 12 things sold today but I got good prices for them so that's ok. I will relist some of the unsold items at a lower price and see who that goes. Since April 18th I've made £160 so I'm very happy with that!
