Weirdscience, just search pink post bags on eBay and they should pop up for you Wink

Tortoise · 26/04/2012 20:48

See I tend to have my listings end after 8pm because earlier than that people are busy with tea time and, if they have children, bedtime.

weirdscience · 26/04/2012 20:56

Good luck for yours Tortoise.

Added another 8 things tonight too

Tortoise · 27/04/2012 07:30

So what's the best clothing to sell st this time of year?

Tortoise · 27/04/2012 08:12

£318.09 so far not counting fees that come out of that! Shock

Well done Tortoise! That is fantastic!

I am really surprised to see another Free Listing weekend so soon. What with holidays and having other things on at weekends, my total for this challenge is paltry. But I have no excuses this time round.... I just have to whip up some enthusiasm!

notcitrus · 27/04/2012 09:05

After answering messages and adding a BIN I at least have a bid on the buggy - person with zero feedback but let's face it, suddenly finding you need stuff for twins is a good reason to join EBay!

Interest in other 2 items but will hold off on other stuff until free to list.

PurpleFrog · 27/04/2012 09:14

notcitrus - it is free listing THIS WEEKEND! Smile

Does anyone have any experience of having a business on Ebay?
After yet another visit to the job centre this week (have to go in weekly) she suggested going self employed. This morning I thought maybe I could have a business on Ebay and that would get me off job seekers allowance.
After seeing my amount made in just a few weeks it got me thinking but I have no idea where to start or if it would be feasible.

My friend sells clothes on Ebay and supports 6 kids! She gets misc bundles from somewhere and then sells them individually.

MustControlFistOfDeath · 27/04/2012 09:51

Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but don't get stung on postage prices as they are going up this weekend:

Packet pricing: From April 30, the same price will apply for all packets weighing up to 750g. From that date, the price for First Class packets weighing up to 750g will be £2.70. For Second Class packets the price will be £2.20. Currently the prices range between £1.58 and £3.05 for First Class items weighing up to 750g and between £1.33 and £2.61 for Second Class packets.

Tortoise, my mum has a little eBay business - she buys remnant pieces of posh silk fabric, cuts them into 50cm squares, and sells them to crafters - she makes good money. It is easy and quick to pack and send (Large Letter, so no trips to the PO, and no bubblewrapping required), and she can do lots of Second Chance offers or multiple item listings (because she'll have several of the same thing).

I don't suggest you copy her (she'll kill me!) but something along a similar line might work. Alternatively, take a trip to your local Car Boot sale and see what can be bought for peanuts and sold on.

Or buy bundles/multipacks and sell them on singly?

Or get onto one of those wholesalers that sell off overstocks from high street shops - here's an example.

Worth a try, though. Or forget eBay and sell Phoenix Cards - that's what I did for five years!! Grin

GlitterPunk · 27/04/2012 11:45

I sold all of my old furniture last week, I've got over £500! (would you like my ebay name to verify my ended listings?)

I've never won anything before. (taking a bow) ...is there someone taking pictures? should i get myself a medal?

ragged · 27/04/2012 12:58

We'll need a Platinium medal for some of you, lol.
I'll be in the cheap tin-nickel category myself, alas!
Thanks for heads up about free listing w/end.

Tortoise · 27/04/2012 13:20

Packing up sold items now and printing postage labels. Surprisingly the nightie is £2.48 postage. I don't think 50p extra is too bad.

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 27/04/2012 14:18

I've never printed my own postage before, is it easy?

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 15:39

I will be relisting this weekend if it is free again. Yay! Thank you for the info. That has come round really fast. It must be making ebay money as well as us! I will be checking my postage though. Thank you for the warning about that as well.

I have 3 bids on 2 items out of my miscellaneous weird and wonderful listings. The only predictable things about ebay is that it is unpredictable!

mogs0 · 27/04/2012 16:18

I have another bid, yay!! So, altogether, that makes 2! Grin

I'm out tonight and tomorrow from 2 so not sure how much i'll be able to list this weekend. I must try and get to the bottom of the box of clothes though. I've purposely left it in the kitchen so I'll trip over it every time I go in there, in the hope that I'll get the contents listed and out of the house HmmGrin.

Tortoise - I don't know about the eBay shop but I do know a little bit about being self employed. My sister is a business advisor and helps lots of people set up their own business. She works for an enterprise company so it might be worth looking for one in your area and seeking their support. She has a few clients who sell on eBay...infact, she was using one of them until she dumped all her stuff on me to list Grin.

carrotsandcelery · 27/04/2012 16:23

Tortoise do you mean selling other people's stuff on ebay for them? That is a genius idea. I have so many friends who would like to sell but can't be bothered or don't have time. I live in a reasonably affluent area where people can afford not to sell on their things when they no longer need them. I imagine it would work better here than in areas where people need every penny they make.

weirdscience · 27/04/2012 17:47

I think the selling other people's stuff is a good idea, there is a shop near me that offers that service, you take in the stuff, they do everything for you and take a % of the winnings.

I've just been to the post office with some of the stuff that sold last night, I undercharged on postage on 2 things, not sure how the new postage increase will work after next week, but might add a little on the the stuff I put on over the weekend just to be sure. Hopefully the stuff I have on just now will be ok, sure it will be!

Byeckerslike · 27/04/2012 17:54

I'd like to join late please!

Its free listing this weekend so i have cleared out my wardrobe, have loads to add.

Will post a link once i have listed :)

LadyThompson · 27/04/2012 18:53

May I join too? I have read the whole thread and you ladies are such a mine of info and nice and friendly, to boot. I sold a bike last month (first ever thing). Now I am selling all sorts of bits and bobs (clothes mainly) but have run up against the 10 item monthly limit as a new seller - boooo. Sold two items yesterday - a juicer for a tenner and a universal remote control for £15. Undercharged on postage for the latter when I sent it off today - schoolboy error! Other schoolboy error was setting a Buy it Now price for the juicer way too low. Of course, it was snapped up. Dash.

Tortoise · 27/04/2012 18:56

Carrots I was thinking buy from wholesaler to sell on. Trouble with selling for others is working out there share of the money.
Thanks mogs. Will look into it.
Thanks to anyone else who commented. I've forgotten now, on phone so too far to scroll lol.

OP posts:
Tortoise · 27/04/2012 18:58

Hatebeing Yes it is easy to do postage and saves time at the post office! Just need a set of scales to weigh item packaged up.
