I can see messages on my phone. It's on the home bit if you're on iPhone.

SNOWBall4girlz · 25/04/2012 18:57

Well I have sold £30 and have 21 items finishing tonight but only one bid
here

and the item I have sold is different from the photo similar but different I will message the winning bidder when it finishes.

Hi there tortoise bet you are looking forward to seeing your mum and brother? every item sold helps :)
I know I have a beautiful summer mini boden dress that dd4 might just still fit but know it will sell and also bring in more watchers lol how did your nightys do?

Tortoise · 25/04/2012 20:18

Yes and no SNOW lol. It's going to be a massive struggle to feed 2 extra people on Job seekers benefits. Plus will have to squeeze 3 boys into one room. One single bed, one single mattress and a single air bed. Fairly Small room too.
Nighties doing ok. Horse one more popular than spotty one.

Here are my items I really hope the build a bear My melody gets more bidders. 20 watchers so far on it.
DS2 is disappointed he has no watchers on his ipod touch!

SomebodySaveMe · 25/04/2012 21:52

Tortoise is your postage really that high? Sorry if that seems rude but nothing I post comes anywhere near £3 for a nighty

Tortoise · 25/04/2012 22:05

I estimate postage, and yes, that probably was a bit high for the nighties. I generally guess around the right price but sometimes get it wrong. If a long way out i will refund some of the difference.
I think will be around £2 postage.

Biding has gone mad on the horse pattern nightie!

I've recently sold all of my old virgin vie Jewellery kit and ex demo makeup stuff, along with clothes (mine), handbags, shoes, coats, a few bits of DHs and then loads of old kids toys and kids Clarks shows - they go like wildfire!!!

Made £600+ in Feb/Mar and £200+ this month alone which is fab and still got 50+ active listings Grin

Babylon1 · 25/04/2012 22:19

Oh and the best thing I invested in were some posting bags with self-seal strips! I bought 100 Multi sized pink bags for £2.99 off eBay and they're great got posting out clothes and shies and bags as they're waterproof and seal really well!

nsjuly · 25/04/2012 22:22

Wow Babylon, that's amazing! I only started a week ago and am delighted with my ?60 so far, lol! Have about 7 things listed for the coming week but hope to list a lot more in the morning. Have you any tips for us please?

weirdscience · 25/04/2012 22:45

Babylon that's amazing! I've made £2.50 tonight!! Grin

Lots ending over the next few days few things with a good amount of bids and lots of watchers, so fingers crossed Smile

weirdscience · 25/04/2012 22:47

Do you have the link to the bags? Sounds ideal, packaging up is the bit that really puts me off, I dread it.

starsintheireyes · 25/04/2012 22:53

Ill go for silver hopefully, sold £65 worth in past week, but already had to withdraw it to pay my car bill of £155Shock .As its due for mot in 2 weeks I better crack on! here

GeekLove · 25/04/2012 23:05

Have revised postage costs and photos. Thanks from the tips. I now have 1 watcher on the skirt so it looks like I might sell after all.
And glory be I happen to work next door to a packaging factory which sells to the public!

SNOWBall4girlz · 25/04/2012 23:55

my total is £30 for this challenge but I will do better lol.
Major relisting revising and scheduling for weekend.

The new postage cost are a bit high and i think I will need to start bundling things together to justify the recorded delivery cost ;(
Hey tortoise the nighty is going great :) and everyone else seems to be doing great too hope this means that ebay is picking up a bit !!

Tortoise · 26/04/2012 04:07

Weirdscience I get my bags from ebay seller o.d.l.packaging

Must order some today, nearly ran out. Will wait until morning though. Need to try and get back to sleep now!

weirdscience · 26/04/2012 10:00

Thanks tortoise, I'll have a look at that seller, I think bags is the way forward!

I have 8 things ending tonight with about £30ish of bids on them so far, hoping for a flurry of activity before the end! Grin

nsjuly · 26/04/2012 15:07

I have spent the day so far listing about 17 items and have repetitive strain injury, lol! Taking a break now. I had one item bought at lunchtime but no more finishing for another 3 days. Fingers crossed they will all sell, I would be thrilled.

mogs0 · 26/04/2012 16:04

I have 8 items listed but no bids yet. One set of children's pyjamas has 18 watchers so hopefully it'll go over its start price...fingers crossed.

Going to have a go at listing some summer clothes bundles over the next couple of weeks. I sold a bundle of three ladies tops last year for about £15 and, iirc, they were George/next so it was definitely worth listing.

My carboot sale pile is rapidly growing so I need to get myself to a carboot sale asap...at the moment the pile is living in ds' bedroom and it's getting in the way!

mogs0 · 26/04/2012 17:04

As if by magic, I have a bid! Grin

Tortoise · 26/04/2012 19:25

I'm getting over excited at the bids coming in! £17 on the nightie. £25 on tennis racket! £10 on jumper. So far that is! Still have about hour to go.Grin

OP posts:
nsjuly · 26/04/2012 19:30

That's brilliant tortoise, good luck!

Babylon1 · 26/04/2012 20:45

The best tips I can give you are to make sure your listings finish between 6 and 8pm, as statistically this is when you are likely to get most hits and bidding wars.

If you are buying, look for listings that finish in the middle of the night Wink

Be as detailed as possible in listings, make sure to offer more photos if required and basically be as amenable as possible got your potential buyers.

I always offer a cash on collection option and if you have any negative feedback (like I have) always offer an explanation why and ask buyers to contact you before leaving neg/neutral feedback.

State on your listing when you anticipate sending items out. I post out on a Tuesday and a Friday only and state this - but if someone wants something quicker I will endeavour to get the item out as soon as cleared payment is received.
Doing this gives buyers a clear instruction and you a bit of leeway if you can't do the packing and posting immediately!

If you've got a lot of stuff to list, try and make your listing finish just after lunch on a Saturday, that way, the earliest you can post out is Monday morning, giving you time to package up and address stuff, plus, if your buyers haven't paid by Monday morning, you've also got good enough reason to chase for payment! I always ask for payment via paypal or contact to arrange collection within 24 hours auction end. If this doesn't happen and I haven't received payment after 3 days, eBay automatically opens an unpaid item case for me! Saves me having to mess about with chasing people and opening cases!!

Hope some of this helps you!!! Good luck!!!
