We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

I had an echeque payment this week too.

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/11/2011 21:26

I had the egg timer symbol last week, but when I hovered over the symbol, it said something like "Buyer has marked payment sent". I didn't understand what the buyer had done as I only accept payment by paypal and nothing was showing up in paypal. An email to the buyer asking what she had done got no response so I ended up opening a case against her for non-payment.

I hope this isn't what you are experiencing carrots, but tbh, if you get a different message when you hover over the egg timer, it doesn't sound like the same problem I had. Have you checked to see if paypal has a record of an echeque having been paid into your account? IIRC it will say if this is the case.

Snapespeare · 22/11/2011 09:23

a couple of bids this morning and some more watches... 47 things listed now including the bras, shoes and coats.

somewhat irritatingly, I have my eye on some vintage child mannequin torsos. I have a couple of male and female 60s mannequin torsos and am thinking about getting them a son or daughter Hmm isn't the point to sell all my rubbish, not accumulate more?! Grin

Dumbledoresgirl · 22/11/2011 10:43

Snapespeare, well, I suppose the aim is to raise money for Christmas so you could think of it as buying yourself a Christmas present! Wink

That's it, I have had enough of Ebay for now. For the second Tuesday running I have had a buyer complain about an item I sent them. They don't even mention the fact that they bought these items at the weekend and already have them in their possession by Tuesday morning! Last week, someone claimed a toy in an unopened box didn't work, then later said it did and left me positive feedback, but only after I had asked them to return it to me and faced losing more than the value of the toy in fees and return postage.

Now someone says a jumper I sold them has a hole in the front. Well, I have never ever sold an item of clothing without describing every tiny fray or bobble, and usually only sell nearly new clothing. I know categorically that this jumper was perfect when it left me yesterday morning. They buyer said she would email me a picture of the hole. What does that prove? Only that she has put a hole in it herself! I have told her to return the jumper and only then will I refund her. After that, me and ebay are having a long break.

Every week I have non payers - 3 this week! Every week I have people bid and then ask if I can cancel their bid. This week someone bid for a job lot of items and then asked if they could only have a few of them. When I said yes ok, but for the auction price, they backed out. I have ebayed for 5 years, and never had as many problems as I have had in the last 4 weeks. So, I am going to let my current listings run, hope to get to my £150 target this weekend, and then that is it for me.

Sorry for rant, but I am FUMING! Oh and thanks for your company these last few weeks and good luck with all your sales. Smile

Purchaser of a changing bag finally sent their brother's friend's friend round to collect, with cash, so that's sorted... I've got a bunch of things finishing tonight, quite a few going for a couple quid, so I'll have made around my £350 target. :)
As usual only got one bid out of a dozen watchers for the ancient computer part, but as it was something even MrNC thought belonged in the bin, £30 is fine by me!

I looked for Duplo train track last night and it's mighty expensive! Does anyone know if the black version is compatible with the new brown one?

I've had Echeques before from foreign buyers - apart from having to wait for them to clear there's never been a problem.

Snapespeare · 22/11/2011 13:22

yippee! got a bid on my kindle bundle - I'm up to £160 at the least! :)

it's very adictive though, isn't it - I can't wait to get home to start listing the kids clothing...then I need to do a very strict review of my wardrobe. All teh stuff I never wear, or bought on impulse or is at least two sizes too small thinking I'll someone fit into it one day

dumbledores what a pisser! really annoying when people take the piss - am sure there are folk who just like being aggravating for nno good reason...

BrianAndHisBalls · 22/11/2011 19:48

Thank goodness my non paying bidders have paid, was only 4 days but I was worrying they'd got buyers remorse after spending £48 on a doll Shock

Think I'll list some dvds tonight, I've still got about 6 of the dolls on, total sales are around £450 at the moment.

I've got an ereader, my dd trod on it and the screen broke inside, I wonder if that would sell for spare parts?

Tortoise · 22/11/2011 19:54

I still have 3 non payers and 2 who have paid by echeque!
And i can't post until thursday or until printer ink arrives as i have no money and cant print paypal postage as no ink!

BrianAndHisBalls · 22/11/2011 19:58

echeques are so annoying, you have to wait for ages before you can post.

Snapespeare · 22/11/2011 20:22

really can't be bothered to list tonight. did do some ironing for photos tho...:( ebay is the only reason i will iron.

Crazybit · 22/11/2011 20:58

Good evening ladies (and gents if their is any)

I have finally had the bike picked up for 99p. Left it with my neighbour and he counted out the pennies to the exact amount.

Have also had an email from the buyer of a ASOS maternity dress weeks ago. she was a new user so I tried to cut her some slack, anyway, after 2 weeks she never paid so I opened a non paying case and closed it..anyway she say's she couldn't get onto her email...or her account and that she emailed ASOS but had had no reply from them! I can't even be bothered to explain, so I've told her she didn't pay in time and i will be relisting if she she wants to bid.

The other problem I've had was some diet shakes...one of them split whilst packing, so i taped it up, sent it anyway and said I would issue a refund for that pack...turns out they hadn't paid so I just sent an email with a discount, then I get an email saying it had split so can she have the refund I promised. Grrr. I emailed back explaining I'd already given her the bloody discount, not heard anything since.

I've not got anything on at the moment, don't think I have the energy for it this week.

Oh and strangely, I think someone on here is selling things in my town, but don't know whether to say anything or not!

Carrotsandcelery · 22/11/2011 21:01

I have sorted out my egg timer problem - it was two fold a) I hadn't confirmed my email address on paypal Blush and b) as it is a new account they are with holding my payment for 20 days. All three items now have big green ticks and statements that it is safe to post on paypal now so two are now in the post Grin Yay!

I do wish that there was some way they could let you know if things weren't done without hunting them down.

Anyway, that has spurred me on and I have ironed loads of the charity clothes and photographed them.

I have also ironed the Brownie uniform I bought for a pittance at the local jumble sale, ready to list on my own page. I have never bought to sell before as I have so much of my own stuff to sell but I was intrigued. Blush

Tortoise · 22/11/2011 21:06

Just quickly re-listed all unsold items Looky here

JarethTheGoblinKing · 22/11/2011 21:30

Would someone mind having a look at my listings?

www.ebay.co.uk/sch/kekouans/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

I'm wondering about changing the prices of the Dexter DVDs - expecting around £7 plus for them, but don't want to put people off with a too-high asking price.

Reckon the house ones should be OK.. I hope.

Is it worth adding a BIN? Confused Never done DVDs before (can you tell?)

Tortoise · 22/11/2011 21:38

Jareth Look fine to me although i always prefer a proper photo rather than stock photo. I don't know what completed listing prices are so not sure if start price is reasonable or not.

TeWihara · 22/11/2011 21:43

I always start my boxsets at 99p (or if it does that annoying thing where it won't let me put in the accurate postage cost, I put in the postage at 1.25 and then start it at 75p less than the actual postage cost.

As long as they're ending at a good time/day they've always made my estimate based on previous sale prices.

If you can put on an original photo I think that helps too.

Are you getting many watchers? If it's something that is frequently unsold a BIN or a start price at average sale price may be a better bet just to protect yourself.

Tortoise · 22/11/2011 21:56

I'm trying to work out a price for PS2 console, approx 60+ games, guitar hero 1 & 2 plus 2 guitars, 5 controllers, 6 memory cards, 2 steering wheels, 2 buzz games and buzz controllers and eye toy camera plus 2 eye toy games.

TeWihara · 22/11/2011 22:11

What about starting at 99p and putting a reserve of whatever you're happy to part with it all for? That's what we did with our Wii bundle, and the reserve fees aren't too bad. Bundles very hard to price, and don't seem to sell with high start prices.

Had a quick look and seems like you £50/60 would be a reachable reserve, for that many games and guitar hero... and hopefully you would sell for more like 70.

Tortoise · 22/11/2011 22:24

I saw a bundle on completed listings had gone for £130 but cant find it now!
Maybe i'm aiming too high for an old console! Feels like it should be worth more than £60-£70.

TeWihara · 22/11/2011 22:27

A lot of the small bundles seem to be going for £30 which is well, crap, tbh - but you have loads of great stuff with yours! If you do a really good thorough listing and do as much as you can to get people interested (which a low start price really helps, even if you do put a high reserve on, since no one will know what the reserve is) then I don't see why you can't do much better.

Just my experience from selling the wii though. :D

Also, definately offer courier delivery, you will have to go out and buy a massive box, but it is so worth it as so few people are prepared to pay big bucks and pick up.

Tortoise · 22/11/2011 22:35

Thanks, will have a good think about it. Was hoping it would sell on local facebook selling pages but i think i went in with too high a price! I said £160 ono. Ive said sensible offers now to see if anyone makes an offer.

Snapespeare · 23/11/2011 08:59

yippee! sold a £20 coat that I bought for DD in tKmaxx for £40! huzzah! £200 up so far and I have tons of rubbish high quality charity shop designer clothing to list. Think I will prioritise anything party-dress-ish and leave the outgrown work suits to the bottom of the pile..

tortoise I think £160-ish is about right - I would pop it on with a low start, a reserve of £140 and hope that your watchers get bidders fever. :)

Carrotsandcelery · 23/11/2011 10:11

The postage calculator on ebay has been Christmassed and doesn't seem to be working. Gah! I have a question about posting a small jumper dress to ROI. I have no idea. It would be £1.72 here. Anyone have any idea?

Tortoise · 23/11/2011 10:13

Thanks Snapes. Job for the weekend i think! DS's need to test all the games to make sure they work! That will keep them busy Grin

Tortoise · 23/11/2011 10:15

The postage calculator is very handy when it works!

Paypal postage hasn't been working for days, i can't print my labels. Paypal facebook page says they are aware of the problem and a few people are managiong to print one or two labels before it stops again!
