We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

mogs0 - I know what you mean about the listings being so detailed. I just paid for one of their picture packs and used up all 12 photos. I didn't have time to faff around investigating other options. I don't think they usually offer 12 free pictures with free listing unless that category usually offers it.

It helped that I had kept the (flattened) boxes for the room sets, so I knew what belonged where. You are probably better off selling the extra floor with the rest of the house - especially if you have enough room sets. But don't underestimate how much space a dismantled house takes up...... I packed all the rooms in their boxes and sellotaped them shut. I put lots of small bits in separate ziploc bags and used bubble wrap to stop everything rubbing together. Then had to unpack everything and find a larger box. Sigh!

Tortoise · 21/11/2011 12:03

I do prefer boxed playmobil if for a present. Courier is easy enough to book. Just wrap well in brown paper with lots of tape.

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/11/2011 12:43

Thanks Fergoose and Tortoise.

Fergoose, that link is great, thanks. I live in a small place near to Bristol, and fully expected my nearest collectplus place to be in Bristol, but no, it is 10 mins walk away from me! Cool! And I hadn't considered that if a buyer arranges their own courier, I would have no track on the parcel. Confused

So now, I need to think about what I could wrap this huge box in, though, tbh, I would prefer it if someone wanted to collect.

Tortoise · 21/11/2011 12:46

Must not buy more playmobil!!!!

PurpleFrog · 21/11/2011 12:53

Dumbledoresgirl - can you wrap it in a bin liner? Preferably one of the thicker garden refuse ones? That would be fine with lots of parcel tape.

lljkk · 21/11/2011 12:56

Ooh, fun to see how you all are getting on (especially Dinosaur Envy).

I think I've done it, at least in gross terms, I've had income of 234 on Paypal plus 2 things cash on collection to the value of 158 quid, even with Ebay fees & postage & dividing some of that with friends,.... I have about 15 more things to sell (hopefully) so I may actually reach that 350 quid goal Shock. Selling On ebay & a few other places.

Stuff in my house as to be nailed down not to be considered for Ebay sales... but sigh, I've still too much "stuff" for comfort -- I'm working on it, though. And plenty to spend the Paypal balance on (DC1 has his eye on a DSi, for instance).

Is it ok if I give some feedback? Hope so. Ebay names only:
Ellisfund: great photos!
Dumbledoresgirl: sorry to say (please don't take offence) but the shadows on some of your pix aren't ideal.
VioletDirge: have you tried selling books on Amazon? I wonder if it's a better deal.
Mogs: I think the pictures on patterned backgrounds isn't ideal; maybe just my bad eyes, but I have trouble seeing what there is. It would put me off, tbh.

Snapespeare · 21/11/2011 12:57

lljkk I think i'll give them a go on ebay - but if they don't shift, I'll certainly relist on amazon - I've never tried selling there before. hmmm! :) thnaks for the suggestion! :)

HalleLouja · 21/11/2011 13:22

Argh person who bought coat with dodgy zip wanted me to pay the price of the coat before she sent it back. I said I would pay her the return postage when she sent it but need coat back to refund it. If you bought something from a shop you would need to return it. Cheeky gits.

I know I should let her keep it and refund money but just want to check. Though dh has memories of dodgy zip.

And breathe.

HalleLouja · 21/11/2011 13:24

Remaining listings.

mogs0 · 21/11/2011 14:00

lljkk - thanks for the feedback. The only room with enough natural light is my bedroom and the only space big enough to lay things out is my bed. Also, I have to grab my moment for photo taking when I can so, as long as the duvet cover is clean Grin, then it's what things get laid out on for pics. I'll try and remember to put a sheet down next time. Smile

I'm really pleased to have a bid each on two of the items I listed last night! I've also had an enquiry about collection of another item from a local ebayer so I'm expecting another bid or 2!

I'm up to £905 Shock and have bids up to £60 on current listings so my new goal is £1000. Unfortunately, I have spent a large amount of it already on Christmas and replacing ds' bedroom furniture but this means that my bank account is looking healthier than normal as I haven't been attacking it as much as normal!

Tortoise · 21/11/2011 14:04

Wow Mogs! That is a huge total. Well done.

Tortoise · 21/11/2011 14:10

On my Ebay selling totals it says £593.96 Shock. Need to do some adding up to see if that is right over the last few months!

TeWihara · 21/11/2011 14:12

The eBay total only saves 60days worth I think?

The first lot of selling I did on the last thread isn't recorded on eBay anymore. (Unless there's a 'total sales ever button somewhere I can't see?)

fergoose · 21/11/2011 14:22

Dumbledoresgirl - I hope you get a good price. Don't forget cash only if it is collected. I am a bit evangelical about Collect Plus - but like you mine is just down the hill with a free car park and is open until 11pm, so I can drop off anytime, where as I need to pay to park near the post office and the queues are often out of the door.

Hale - you are perfectly correct in not refunding a penny until you receive the item back.

Tortoise · 21/11/2011 14:36

y3es thats the total over 60 days Shock

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/11/2011 15:02

Tortoise, you know which one, the one you asked about before. It is now as near complete as it is ever going to be (still missing one cup, one drinks carton, and both of the ground crew's bats - oh well, I've seen other planes sell with even more missing!) But you don't want it as you are trying not to buy any more playmobil!!!!!!!

Purplefrog - garden bin liner - fantastic idea! I was just thinking none of my heavy duty post bags come anywhere near big enough but a bin liner (or two) would do the job.

lljkk - no offence taken. I know the photos are crap. But funnily enough, the things I photograph sell, whereas the things I use stock images for don't, so better a shadowy photo than a clear stock image. But, yeah, I was having a bad camera day that day!

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/11/2011 15:09

Oh, final question re plane: is a start price of £9.99 too much do you think? I don't want it to go for less than a tenner though.

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/11/2011 15:16

Photo on my profile if it helps anyone to judge.

Tortoise · 21/11/2011 15:22

Ah yes, I remember. Have bought too much already though! £9.99 is fine as a start price. What do they normally sell for?

lljkk · 21/11/2011 16:52

That Playmobil aeroplane should sell well (nods sagely). They go for like 25-30 quid new, I think?

Carrotsandcelery · 21/11/2011 20:36

I am having a problem with my new charity listing page. In the section where I would normally wait for a big fat blue £ sign once someone has paid I have egg timers instead. If I hover the cursor on it says, "Payment initiated on 21st Nov..." Has anyone had this before? What does it mean? Is there a problem with my new paypal account?

fergoose · 21/11/2011 20:37

it sounds like an echeque - if you log into paypal the payment will be there, but uncleared

It may give you a date when the payment is clear - only send the item once the payment has cleared. It can take about a week I think, maybe longer.

TeWihara · 21/11/2011 20:40

I have an egg timer this week two. At the end of the row of pictures there should be a link for "view Paypal transaction". Ours turns out to be an eCheque. Paypal says not to post the item until the cheque has finished being processed, which takes about a week. (presumably the picture turns to a £ then, otherwise keep checking your paypal account)

Snapespeare · 21/11/2011 20:44

bras, shoes and boys coats listed...the time investment in this is worth the cash alone!

Carrotsandcelery · 21/11/2011 21:18

Paypal says there is no activity on that account at all. Does that mean the payment hasn't cleared at all? It would be weird to get 2 echeques on the new account having never had one up until now on my own account

I am worried I have made some stupid sort of error and stuffed it up. Confused
