We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

PM have a spare service, if you go via the website - so if it's something that could potentially get £££ it could be worth the £3 or so to be able to say it's complete?

mogs0 · 13/11/2011 23:08

Thanks, I'm pretty sure the missing bits are in a cupboard, I just need to look for them. Also, the house was discontinued a long time ago so I'm not sure if the spares would still be available but I'd probably get what I need from eBay.

Tortoise · 13/11/2011 23:49

Potentially already made £13! Been asked for buy it now on cot quilt and bumper set. They will let me know tomorrow when they want the bin added but they have agreed price.

mogs0 · 14/11/2011 07:41

I found the missing pieces Hmm.

If I schedule some things then it turns out to be a free listing weekend next weekend, when I change the scheduling bit to go live immediately would it still be free?

Carrotsandcelery · 14/11/2011 10:13

Hi Mogs Glad you found the missing pieces. I think it would be free but I couldn't promise that. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

I made about £15 last night and look to make at least that tonight as well. Where do you get your full total made from? Is there a secret button or do you just keep track?

Someone has already bid on an item I have listed for next Sunday Shock I think that is the advantage of putting a BIN on. People bid so that the BIN will be removed. It makes it seem worth the extra few pence for those bigger items as it ensures a sale. Hopefully there will be a bidding war over it

mogs0 · 14/11/2011 10:31

I agree with what you say about the BIN. I had a £15 BIN on my listing, ending last night. Someone bid straightaway and it ended up selling last night for £16 Grin.

On the main eBay site (ie not the mobile version), on 'My ebay' page, there is a running total on the left hand side about half way down.

notcitrus · 14/11/2011 11:34

Fish tank bloke was supposed to collect at 9pm last night (so I rushed home across London), only to cancel at 8.45 as apparently his missus wants him to get rid of the fish as she hates them...
So have done a second chance thing but will have to relist I think. And people are unlikely to want a new aquarium before Christmas...

On the plus side, SIL has given us a Little Tykes playhouse to get rid of. It's only ever been used inside so in good nick and should sell for Christmas.

Almost no watchers atm, but they never seem to mean anything!

Crazybit · 14/11/2011 12:55

Can I join please?

I have just started a new thread without realising I could probably ask here. I'm not sure how much i've made so far so will have a look and post it later:)

Anyway, here is my question(s) if any of you lovelies could help.

Have been selling a few bit's lately.

After being stung I have stated 'payment to be within 3 days of listing ending or for collections, for it to be within 7 days but please contact me within 3 days'. on ALL my listings.

The past week i have had:

  • no communication at all about a toddler bed that was to be couriered. Ended up opening a non-payment dispute and having to relist.

*Little communucation about a collection, only for them to text me yesterday (7 days after the listing had finished) saying they will be here at 4. I replied saying I wont be home till 5, so will they please be able to collect after then. No reply. I text at 4.40 and said I would be home within ten minutes and had a reply saying 'car trouble, they will arange pick up another time.' I really want rid of this item, how long should i leave it before saying sorry, but you've had more than 7 days, I will need to relist?

  • A non-payment, non-communicator from 8 day's ago. The buyer is a newbie, with only 2 feedback so I sent them a nice message towards the end of the week asking them to pay, no reply, so have had to open a non-payer dispute again!

So...just how long do you give to pay? Then how long after opening a non-payment dispute do you leave before closing the case and relisting?

I realise you cann't open a non-payer dispute for 4 days, but do you ever leave it longer?

Seabright · 14/11/2011 14:50

Just discovered you can download a Certificate of Posting from the Royal Mail website, fill it in before you go to the Post Office & just get it stamped. My postmaster was very pleased with me!

I usually take a piece of paper with the names and addresses on but useful to know that form is there.

HalleLouja · 14/11/2011 17:56

Not many watchers here either.

Here
Last time my DVDs sold at the last minute so hopefully that will happen again.

Also getting a few people reading the please look at my other items bit as am getting a few people ask me to hold onto items just in case they win the other item.

Here are my listings in case anyone is interested.

Wuxiapian · 14/11/2011 23:26

Please aid my declutterige cause or else I will be totally broke(n) come Chrimbo!

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/11/2011 09:26

Wuxiapian, your stuff is lovely. If I were a size 10, I would bid for the classic black dress. Envy

I am on about £97 now. I will never make £350, but never really intended to. I am hoping for £150 at best. Smile

Carrotsandcelery · 15/11/2011 11:02

I have 2 bids on next weeks list already. Yay! Both had BIN so it definitely seems to be worth doing.

I have been parcelling up items bought last night and Sunday night. Why do people take so long to pay? I am going away so if they don't pay early today I can't post until Saturday. I have made them aware of this but some still haven't paid. Stress!

I am not listing anything else until I get back as I have realised I can't answer questions if I am not here.

I had big success last night on my hush puppy boots which sparked a bidding war and went from 11.50 to 18.56 or something like that in the last few seconds of the auction. It was a great surprise. Grin

notcitrus · 15/11/2011 12:03

You can also get the PO to just give you a wad of the forms for you to add the address to and they stamp. Though the guy at the big PO I usually avoid told me the other day that a receipt for a 68p stamp was a proof of posting... I just hope the letter (bunch of airfix stickers which actually did create a bidding war up to £2.50) gets to Germany OK so I don't have to argue with him, as he was being very snotty to a woman whose special delivery item had gone missing and over a month later it was still coming up as 'in the system' so he refused to refund her!

Must remember to use only my local PO in future as there are no chairs but usually no queue either. If there is then I can have a coffee next door and come back later! And they are lovely.

Other fish tank people have bought others already, so have to claim FVF back and relist. Gah. Will do a BIN this time to hopefully speed things up.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 15/11/2011 12:08

We sold 21 things on Sunday night and only have 30 things left to sell so I'm happy :)

Dumbledoresgirl - I think the amount you've made already is brilliant! Did you see my reply to your question about wrapping/packing breakables?

mogs0 · 15/11/2011 12:37

NC - my local PO told me a couple of weeks ago that they've stopped doing those forms and to write addresses on a plain piece of paper.

Here are my listings!

champagnevanity · 15/11/2011 13:17

Sitting Around bored on maternity leave, ebay to keep me from going mad!

Made so far about £150 pounds, selling my mum and dads old plus size clothes,

however one buyer has said one item is not how described, but i checked every inch of the damn thing when i measured it, and now she's asking for money back! Thats the reason i get so fucked off with ebay, knobheads trying to make a few quid back!

few things HERE

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/11/2011 14:25

The PO round my way has stopped using those little forms which you can fill in beforehand and get stamped. I have no idea why as they were a godsend - much better than getting the person behind the counter to write the address on each receipt personally.

Dinosaur, how very rude of me, yes I did read it and thank you for replying. I wondered how you did it, but I still don't feel confident enough to try selling anything breakable. You must have loads of packing materials to hand!

Well, call me exceptionally thin-skinned (I am!) but I have just had a complaint from one of my buyers. I sold a wind up toy that was still new and in the box. I didn't think to check it: it was an unwanted present which no-one had opened so I just assumed it worked. But my buyer says it doesn't. This is what they emailed: "these items do not seem to work properly. please advise". I emailed back: "Oh no. It was an unwanted gift, box never opened, as I think you can see. So I had no idea, and no reason to believe that it did not work. Please return it to me and I will give you a full refund." Was that the right thing to do? I really can't see how the toy cannot work as it was untouched in its box, and also the phrase "do not seem to work properly" sounds a bit odd to me. Do they work or not? It is only a wind up toy, what were they expecting, state of the art engineering? But I do not want a negative and will happily forfeit the money to avoid getting one. Can anyone reassure me I have responded appropriately and also make me feel a bit better as I am quite upset about this. Sad

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/11/2011 14:34

Oh and now I have read Champagnevanity's post calling such people on ebay "knobheads" (well said!) and I also feel a bit of a wuss to add to my upset feelings. Blush I really should develop a thicker hide, shouldn't I?

Carrotsandcelery · 15/11/2011 14:54

Dumble (((hugs))) Some days it just gets to you. There is no way you could have known it didn't work. They must know that if they were the first to open the box. It's best not to give folk like that too much head space. Save the space for nice folks Grin

Dumbledoresgirl · 15/11/2011 15:05

Thanks. Weak Smile

Am I right to expect the item to be returned to me before I refund? If it truly doesn't work, obviously I would want them to have their money back, but a tiny part of me thinks they are trying their luck. I've just realised I haven't told them my address so I am awaiting their response...

Crazybit · 15/11/2011 19:21

How long do people think I should give to a collector of a childs bike that went for 99p, it finished last Sunday and I asked that collection be within 7 days...they where meant to come on Sunday but had car troubles apparantly.

Here is my stuff if anyone fancies a nosy :)

champagnevanity · 15/11/2011 22:09

Dumbledoresgirl

It's such a bastard, you think, yess! Made a few quid, then all the hassle people put you through sometimes you think its not worth it! I totally understand, sometimes it gets me really upset. Especially when their is no seller protection, if a buyer claims something, it almost always gets taken, true or not!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 16/11/2011 02:23

Dumbledoresgirl Yes you are right, definitely do not refund before you have it back in your hands, and tomorrow send them a jaunty little message that says "Sorry it doesn't seem to work, as per my previous message, please return to XXXX address for a full refund. After verifying my security markings and receiving it within the original packaging/same condition I will of course fully refund you."

So if it is damaged in some way you've done what any decent seller should do and refunded in full (and if genuinely not working when you get it back I'd refund their return postage too) and if not genuine you've covered yourself and hopefully prevented them from scamming you.

Carrotsandcelery How's the new charity selling going? I saw somewhere that you'd got the bank account linked and were ready to list I think - I bet you'll find that buyers are far more generous/forgiving/less likely to rip you off - that's been our experience when comparing our private selling account (for the same/similar items) with our fund-raising account. Hope it goes well for you.
