Seabright · 19/10/2011 20:32

We are up to 1000 posts on the other thread, so thought I'd start a new one. And also because as of today my feedback rating is 1000 & I now have a red star

Please keep posting, I love this thread; it's so friendly and interesting!

I have nearly reached £350 plus I got £40 for the crib and £70 from car boot sale.

Only problem is I have a couple of non-payers. One I can close tomorrow and one is the one who paid the goods but not the p&p. Hopefully can close the cancel transaction tomorrow.

Fergoose - if a buyer doesn't respond to a cancel transaction in a week can you go in and close it. I can't see anything on the screen that let me cancel it.

fergoose · 09/11/2011 22:43

yes, HalleLouja if the buyer doesn't respond you can close it and get your fees back

The option should be there after 7 days, so if you opened it at 8pm then you can close at 8.01pm 7 days later.

Tortoise · 09/11/2011 23:28

It's taken me hours to package items tonight. All but 10 done. Will do them tomorrow.
Still have some non payers. So bloody annoying!

JarethTheGoblinKing · 10/11/2011 09:00

Up to £221 so far.. need to get a move on! I've got something ending on Sunday that should do well, and a Bench coat to list which I'm hoping will get a fair amount as well.

I'd forgotten about Amazon marketplace - must get some DVDs and CDs listed - we have House and Dexter box-sets to flog, so need to get them on there before the end of the month.

dizzyday07 · 10/11/2011 10:06

Jareth - is the Amazon selling bit good to use? I have some as new autobiographies and the like that are won't sell on Ebay (I shouldn't think) but may be better suited for Amazon

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 10:12

I was finding it quite difficult to understand but I was the same with ebay when I started. Am I right in thinking they take 75p of any sale plus a percentage in fees or did I misunderstand? (I am asking about Amazon Marketplace btw)

JarethTheGoblinKing · 10/11/2011 11:42

dizzy I've used Amazon a lot in the past before I used ebay. Great for selling books/CDs and DVDs as people come across used items when they would normally be looking for new. If you've got stuff in as new condition you'll get a good price for it. The only trouble is that once it's on there I think it stays there for about 2 months (though this may have changed - it's been a while since I've used it) so you tend to have a pile of stuff waiting to be posted sitting around for a while. You have to post quite quickly too. Other than that it's great though, and very easy to list things.

Carrotsandcelery · 10/11/2011 14:31

My bank card has arrived for the charity ebaying so I need to get cracking.

Seabright · 10/11/2011 20:26

Anyone heard anything about a free listing weekend? Am not sure whether to list tonight, for 10 days or wait and see if there's another freebee!

OP posts:
Tortoise · 11/11/2011 07:01

Good news, just had email about free listing this weekend. I will be re-listing all unsold and maybe some other bits.

notcitrus · 11/11/2011 10:11

Bother - I just listed a wad of stuff yesterday, including re-listing quite a lot at 99p.
Though most are ending next Thurs so should miss the lost-among-loads-of-stuff free list rush.
Have a bid on a (useless) nappy bag which is the same as I paid for it off Ebay in the first place, and thanks to an MNer buying a few of my books mentioned above, I'm on around £280 now. If fish tank bloke turns up and pays... he was ill last night apparently.
An ancient computer bit might make £50 or more. Or not, of course. :)

Neg feedback from phone has been removed and replaced with positive calling me / MrNC 'a right gent'! I can't bring myself to leave any for him.

toobreathless · 11/11/2011 15:21

Just a quick post to say am thrilled with the books thanks NotCitrus.

Will try & check in again later.

mogs0 · 11/11/2011 20:21

Right, ds has 2 mates over for a sleepover tonight and they are going to be hogging the tv for the next couple of hours so it gives me the perfect excuse to get some things listed or I might even get the playmobil house built as I have been putting it off for a couple of weeks now.

I posted all my items today and only have one listing at the moment which has a couple of bids and 23 watchers.

HalleLouja · 11/11/2011 20:33

toobreathless I read that as boobs not books Blush

I have got £28 so far for an mp3 player and not much else going on. Oh well. We are going to put the DVD recorder on this weekend and that should raise something.

I got a second chance offer accepted on the dress that wasn't paid for - got nearly £14 so happy with that. All paid for too.

TeWihara · 11/11/2011 20:40

Hi again everyone. Is it free listings this weekend?

Have had an email asking if we would accept a postal order as payment for an item (auction is still running) my instinct is no, but not sure why? Are postal orders a bad idea?

TeWihara · 11/11/2011 20:43

Also to add to our eBayers bid on the weirdest things, I put up a load of scarf and glove sets just in case, the only one which has had a bid so far is one with buttons missing + a bit bobbled, and I hesitated to bother listing (it is described as such) very strange!

Carrotsandcelery · 11/11/2011 20:43

Gah! I have just emptied my paypal winnings buying my dparents gift for my ds this Christmas. They will pay me back but may not understand the urgency Hmm

notcitrus · 11/11/2011 20:57

TeW - UK postal orders are great, you cash them at the Post Office when you post the item. Though if your name isn't the one on the Ebay account they might refuse to cash it but even though I've taken MrNC's driving licence with me my local PO has never even asked to see it.

They cost the buyer about 60p, but that's not your problem!

HalleLouja · 12/11/2011 09:44

Not much more to put on, though lots of things that might not sell so will have to relist.

Not sure what I will do with my life once all this ebaying is over Wink

Dumbledoresgirl · 12/11/2011 21:42

My latest listings

I have been at it all day, photographing stuff and listing. It really does take up all your time doesn't it?

Currently, after 3 weeks, I have made about £85 which isn't anywhere near target, but it all counts.

TeWihara · 12/11/2011 21:48

Well this is odd - nothing to do with our selling, but bought a pair of jeans on eBay last week and they have been returned to sender saying "addresse gone away" htf has that happened? We haven't gone anywhere! No missed delivery note... very strange.

Dumbledore, you have just reminded me that I really have to get a wiggle on and photograph my bits to list tomorrow!

Carrotsandcelery · 12/11/2011 21:53

TeW I posted a parcel a few weeks ago that was returned to me. The parcel said address unknown. I contacted the buyer and the address I used was correct. I sent it again and it arrived with no problems. The whole experience cost me £1.72 though and the item had only sold for 99p.

TeWihara · 12/11/2011 21:58

How annoying for you! It was a new pair of jeans so they cost me more than 99p but still a PITA for the seller. What are Royal Mail up to?!

dizzyday07 · 12/11/2011 22:01

I've had 2 items returned in the last couple of weeks saying they hadn't been collected!

I've been feeling pretty sicky today - so only relisted the unsold bits

I have a small pile of ladies clothes to add along with a couple of boys rugby tops that I hope to get on tomorrow

Tortoise · 12/11/2011 22:47

I will relist all unsold items tomorrow night and try and add some items too.
I have a little people castle to list.
A few baby snowsuits.
2x cot duvet and bumper.
3 shoe boxes of pc games! Not sure I can be bothered with them!
