Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

I know! Did you see the description though - "unwanted gift" damn right it was!

You know what I hate? A proper bidding war so you know they're online, but then no immediate payment. Makes me really irked. It may just be me being a touchy cow though ...

ClaimedByMe · 28/08/2011 21:49

Everything sold but just at the starting price! Pity as i like a good bidding war

dizzyday07 · 28/08/2011 22:02

I have quite a few individual bids - which certainly makes a change :)

Tortoise · 28/08/2011 22:10

Sold 13 out of 22 items which is good. Some at 99p! Muddy puddles waterproofs ended on £14.50 I think. Very happy with that. Made around £30.

DecapitatedLegoman · 28/08/2011 22:39

Sold 15 out of the 19 I had ending tonight and made £46 so a great start :)

That's if they all pay of course Grin

chickydoo · 28/08/2011 22:47

Can I join in?
Love ebay, have sold a fair few things over the last 2 years (about 150-200 items I think)
Yesterday I made £105.00 Yippie!! A pair of shoes that I had never worn. 2 mini boden tops kids riding boots, and an electric pump.
feel quite rich this pm!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 28/08/2011 22:51

Decap - I hate that too, especially when they go on to win other things long after mine has ended.

Is everyone aware of my scheduling then revising item trick to avoid the 0.06p charge but still get things on in advance?

Here are all of our items ending Monday night

We used to end on Sunday but it ate into our weekend too much on a Sunday evening, with us rushing around to get things packed and we've not found a massive difference ending on Monday.

DecapitatedLegoman · 28/08/2011 23:03

No Dinosaur, I'm not aware - exactly how does that work?

Redumbdancy · 28/08/2011 23:13

ooh spill with the scheduling trick!

I've got 2 bids already, usually have nothing until day 5!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 29/08/2011 00:22

Scheduling trick - pre-list your items on a scheduled listing starting at midnight or some ridiculously late hour for the night you want them to start (or actually any date after the date/time you want it to start) - when you do this it will say that you will incur a charge of 0.06p, as you finish the listing. Don't panic!

Then, and here's the sneaky bit, on the evening that you want the listing to start (the date that you've scheduled it for) you go into your scheduled listings individually and edit/revise your item and you tick/check the box to 'start the item immediately' (and that un-checks the scheduled start time box) at the time you want it to start. If you've got loads of items scheduled you need to be quick going to edit from one on to the next but when you've sussed it it shouldn't take you more than 30 seconds per item.

This way you get no charge BUT you get the benefit of getting your listings set up and ready to go as far in advance as the date on ebay will allow - about 3 weeks if I remember correctly.

It means you can list stuff tonight to go on Thursday night, more stuff tomorrow night, and so on and so on as long as you remember to edit your scheduled listing then you incur no charge.

Personally I schedule my stuff to start at 10pm - I want to actually start between 8.30-9pm but if I forget (and I have!) then they still go live at a reasonably late time.

I have listed about 100 items this way and edited them starting about 8.30pm and had all 100 items live within 40 minutes.

You clever thing, DIno :)

Can anyone answer a question for me?

I'm sure there's a way to email buyers in bulk but I can't find out how. I just want to remind my Sunday winners that as today's been a bank holiday I'm unable to post until tomorrow.

happybubblebrain · 29/08/2011 21:03

I have lots and lots of stuff (an attic full) that I should ebay. But, I don't know how to. I know it's probably really easy but every time I look at ebay my eyes hurt and my brain says "no way". I think I'm ebayphobic - is that possible? I've never bought anything either, but I have on other websites. Someone needs to invent a better, more user friendly selling/buying website.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 30/08/2011 00:03

Decap - there used to be but if you're not a business seller unfortunately that option to bulk email no longer exists - I think it changed in July.

nickelbabe · 30/08/2011 10:52

I've got that NetMums cookery book on sale in my shop.
noone's ever bought it - i've been open 2years and 9 months! Grin

My listings so far have bids on 3 of them.
all finish at lunchtime today.
the bids are all 99p, but 2 have more than one watcher....
here's hoping for a bidding war (they must be worth more than 99p!)

Aimsmum · 30/08/2011 18:28

How did you get on Nickelbabe? I have a few thongs ending soon, all have bids so feeling hopeful!

Aimsmum · 30/08/2011 20:00

Ha, I didn't have thongs listed tonight, just things Smile Everything sold, so I'm feeling quite pleased. Although a buyer from last week has got in touch to say the skirt she bought doesn't fit and is discoloured. I 100% know it isn't dicoloured, and her email is really rude, which annoys me, if she just emailed to say it didn't fit, I would have offered a refund, but saying the skirt looks "nothing at all like the picture" is just ridiculous.

DecapitatedLegoman · 30/08/2011 20:17

Thanks for that Dino, thought I was going mad!

Post Office was crazy this morning what with them being shut yesterday, so I got a few death-stares as I queued up with 15 parcels Blush

Can I ask how you lot generally post things? P&P was getting so pricey that I started sending second class, but I always get good comments for posting things quickly. Obviously now things aren't arriving so fast and I wonder if that's going to have an impact on my ratings.

I still have 5 items for sale and 4 relists, and I know I can generate a load more if I put my mind to it! I may not have £350 by Christmas but dammit I'll have more room!

DecapitatedLegoman · 30/08/2011 20:17

Aimsmum your thong sales made me Shock then Grin!

Aimsmum · 30/08/2011 20:24

Well I have heard there is a good market for used shoes, so thongs might sell pretty well Wink

I usually always post things second class, unless it is a valuable item, or if the buyer contacts me and asks if I can send something quickly, I have had a few feedback comments saying speedy delivery etc, so I generally do think as long as people get their items within a reasonable time then they are quite happy.

I honestly hate going to the post office with loads of items and try to stagger it as much as possible. I have been going to the one near my work before I start, so before 9, and with it being city centre rather than a local post office, I have found that it is mostly empty early in the morning.

DecapitatedLegoman · 30/08/2011 20:38

My local PO love me - they're most definitely on a threatened list so the fact that I don't use the "Print postage label" service online makes them very happy indeed!

Tortoise · 30/08/2011 20:52

Aimsmum Think I won the purple dress from your items? Smile

Redumbdancy · 30/08/2011 23:28

The NetMums cookbook has a bid and 3 watchers Shock, was expecting to re-list it for the next 20 years.

Other items are doing OK too, better than last week anyway, seemed very slow on eBay for the past month or so.

nickelbabe · 31/08/2011 13:39

i have sold 3 items, all at 99p. :(

after all those watchers too!
never mind, i've listed a couple more, so onwards and upwards Grin

Aimsmum · 31/08/2011 15:13

So you have Tortoise! Grin It is all packed up ready to go to the PO this afternoon!

That's what happened to me the other night Nickelbabe, then last night everything went really well, so hopefully your next lot will go well Smile

I have some more stuff ending tomorrow and most have bids, one jumper has 17 watchers, so I have high hopes for it Grin
