Post your listings and questions here. The purpose is to raise money for Christmas and I'll start by showing my (so far) meagre listings here

thanks very much fergoose - you are truly the queen of ebay :)

SmallShips · 18/10/2011 20:32

I've name changed half way through this thread but my new listings are here

Carrotsandcelery · 18/10/2011 21:16

Christina I have the same problem. Auction ended on Sunday night and they haven't paid yet. It is a pita as I like to get the stuff packaged and posted. I don't even package it now as you waste the packaging if it turns out they are not going to pay and you have to start again.

I am not sure but it seems I have to prove myself by not having any agro from wii games buyers in the next 30 days. If I don't then hopefully I am allowed to list some more games. I was hoping to get them all up and running pre Christmas.

I now have a bidder from America asking me to open up bidding to him on a pack of cards, currently at 99p. He is willing to pay £5 for postage Shock I have hopefully allowed him to bid and agreed that I will charge him £5 postage initially but refund the excess, less 30p packaging costs as I did for the New Zealand bidder. Does that sound reasonable?

I am really surprised they would pay that much for a deck of cards. It sounded like he had done it before so maybe he is a collector or something.

Fingers crossed it all works out anyway.

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 18/10/2011 21:24

Ooh are they special cards? All the people who asked about my posting to other countries didn't actually win the auctions so it was a moot point in the end.

Yes, it is a complete pain in the arse, particularly as this is the person who lives very close to me. Actually that doesn't really make any difference but for some reason it makes me more annoyed. Particularly when they won the stupid thing for 99p!

Carrotsandcelery · 18/10/2011 21:29

Christina they are Winnie the Pooh snap cards Hmm I think they will go for 99p too and then £5 postage Shock

CristinaaarghdellAaarghPizza · 18/10/2011 21:31

Really? :o

dizzyday07 · 18/10/2011 22:30

I've just had a question asking if I'd PX a bodywarmer for a top I'm selling Confused

Carrotsandcelery · 18/10/2011 22:33

Errr! Do you want the body warmer Hmm

dizzyday07 · 18/10/2011 22:41

Carrots - they are not actually selling anything at the minute - and all I can see they buy is blacksmiths anvils!

fergoose · 18/10/2011 22:48

that is brilliant Dizzy - I've heard of people trying to exchange cars before but a top for a bodywarmer :) - how did you reply?

If they didn't post your item you couldn't very well do an item not received could you?!

Tobagostreet · 19/10/2011 11:58

My listings are here, so far so meagre, dont know that I'll get £350 before Christmas, but I'm going to have a damn good try!

fergoose · 19/10/2011 12:13

Tobago - you might find if you end your items in the evening you attract more buyers.

If I want a bargain I shop during the day when everyone is at work.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 14:02

Tobago your stuff looks great.

The timing thing is true though. I have bought dd 2 fab boden long sleeved tops for a bargain prices (even for ebay) because they ended during the day and therefore had less competition.

Hopefully your bidders will bid huge prices because they won't be online to play the last minute roulette and you will profit that way instead.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 14:05

I forgot to say what I came on to say.

I have had 2 buyers in the last 2 days email and ask me to post first class just after I have posted their items second class. Is there a way to avoid this. Should I be saying something in my write up about emailing me in advance of buying if you want to change the postage or something like that? All I have been able to do is apologise.

One was posted on Monday and they wanted it by Friday. The other was posted on Tuesday and they wanted it by Saturday.

I am hoping it means my, "I usually post within 1 working day of payment clearing." comment is at least attracting bidders though.

fergoose · 19/10/2011 14:07

you can offer different postage rates on an auction can't you - so the buyer can chose either first or second class at checkout.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 14:23

I didn't know that. I knew I could offer international rates but not different rates within the U.K. Thank you fergoose. I will look into it next time I list.

fergoose · 19/10/2011 14:27

I'm not sure how to do it to be honest, having never done it myself, but I have had the option when checking out to chose what postage rate I want.

Carrotsandcelery · 19/10/2011 14:41

It might just be simpler to put a note at the end of my descriptions asking buyers to message me re postage prior to checking out.

I am already thinking of adding one asking them to message me about international postage.

The majority want the cheapest method possible so I can't imagine it is often an issue.

HalleLouja · 19/10/2011 17:05

Is it just me or are people being slack paying? I sold 3 items yesterday and only one has paid. Still waiting payment for one item from Sunday.

Also what do people do if buyers are not leaving feedback? Is it worth sending them a message saying "I hope you got your item, I have left you feedback, could you please leave some for me."

Or something along those lines??

HalleLouja · 19/10/2011 17:05

Do we need a new thread? Looks like space is running out.

fergoose · 19/10/2011 17:51

nope - never ask for feedback, if you do you may get negs if buyers feel hassled

mogs0 · 19/10/2011 17:53

Just scheduled 4 items to start tonight using the eBay app and it's very quick!

I've not worked out yet whether I can make the text look a bit better or whether you can only do basic typing but, for speed of getting items listed, I think it's fab!

Tortoise · 19/10/2011 20:29

Slowly getting a few watchers and a couple of items with a bid. Nothing much though. Do my listings look ok? Not doing very well lately. Have so much to list but not worth it if nothing sells!

Seabright · 19/10/2011 20:29

We are up to 999 posts! I will start a new thread!
