DirtyMartini · 14/10/2010 20:02

hey there :)

I made £140 with my shoes and boots! £15 of that goes on fees, and another £15 or so I invested in packing materials to get me set up for the next lot of listings; but I'm really happy that I still made the goal of a hundred quid even after those deductions.

The rest of what I have is mainly low-value stuff like used maternity and kids' clothes. I think we may have some toys that could go, though, but need to clear the pile of clothing first.

Already mentally spending my PP account but MUST NOT do this, as I have no other income at the moment.

DeadlyNightShadeofViolet · 14/10/2010 22:41

Well Done Martini :)

Sold 6 things tonight and made £55 after fees and packaging so I am quite happy. Didnt sell 6 things so have relisted and added a few more things.

overthemill · 15/10/2010 10:26

this time round it's rubbish! only made £50 and after fees it won't be much. grrr - but at least it's something and clearing out the house! also sold some books to local second hand bookshop for £125 - loads and loads of books but it feels worth it.

overthemill · 16/10/2010 20:49

ok totted up - made £110 before fees - terrible this time round but better than nothing
and having sold my tent today as well, feeling not too bad

so total so far is £599 plus £125 from books and £120 from tent. Overdraft looking so much smaller :)

hope everyone else is happy too

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 16/10/2010 21:16

All my items end tomorrow. Only 2 with a bid. Sad

notcitrus · 16/10/2010 21:22

Only 2 with bids here too Gruesome, but likely to beat the previous round - another £15 at least.

And the scarf I was going to just drop at the charity shop has gone for a fiver, so that's good for me.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 16/10/2010 21:35

Lol @ being called Gruesome. Grin

DirtyMartini · 16/10/2010 22:51

Aaaaaaaaah. DP climbed the Everest of stuff in our big cupboard earlier to reach something right at the back. He did not take proper care, just stood on top of stuff, and put his foot right through the canopy of the SPOTLESS Quinny bassinet carrycot thing that I was counting on a minimum of forty quid for. :(

It was an accident but I'm still really disappointed (I cannot be angry really as he never usually does this sort of thing). There is no point even listing it now, there are loads on eBay in perfect condition and he's really really destroyed it.

Gah. In other news, I've listed 14 items over the past two evenings but not showing huge interest so far. Not high value stuff, just baby clothes and mat gear. Need to dig out some higher value items

overthemill · 16/10/2010 23:45

i know you all know this, but most of my stuff had no bids until the last day. don't give up yet!

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 17/10/2010 09:19

DirtyMartini Oh no. How annoying.

DebsCee · 17/10/2010 12:43

Seem to be doing OK with my things so far, I usually reckon that if there are no watchers by end of day 2 that it probably won't sell or at best go for 99p.

Jewellery has a few bids and who knew that a composting wormery was worth so much! It's been sat idle in our garden all Summer and I listed it on a whim last week and it's got the highest bids so far! All listings from me are here

DeadlyNightShadeofViolet · 17/10/2010 12:52

I made the mistake of listing some stuff on Thursday morning which meant it finished early this morning when no-one was up and bidding, despite loads of watchers, so I have managed to sell a BNWT Zara jumper and some topshop jeans for 99p each.

I also have someone that won something on Thursday who still hasnt paid.

Have sorted out the duplo to list, so we will see how that goes.

I am selling some Clains foundation which has lots of watchers so I am hoping to make a bit on that too.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 17/10/2010 13:11

That reminds me, i do have a bag full of jewellery i could list. Guess it would be described as costume jewellery? I have no idea! It was given to DD's for dressing up but i decided some was too nice for them to destroy! Grin

DirtyMartini · 17/10/2010 13:54

Right, just added a new-in-box Loop The Loop Thomas that we were given as a late Xmas gift last year; DS was too old for it though, so it never came out of the cupboard.

I've paid 6p extra to schedule start this evening when hopefully all the exhausted parents will be doing their ebay shopping for toys in front of Sunday night telly...

My auctions are here. Not the most inspiring lot of stuff though. Must try harder.

DirtyMartini · 17/10/2010 14:06

DebsCee, that wormery looks brilliant actually!

I snooped my way through via the auction to your website & have made a donation. Only v small though, wish it could be more. x

DebsCee · 17/10/2010 14:33

DM - thank you!!! Totally lovely and generous of you. We've raised just over £5k from ebay for DS1's ops so far and we're still blown away by how generous folk are.

We sell a lot of items for other people and basically take a small % of it for the fund, and every now and then list a few of our own things.

The wormery is brilliant, generates the most wonderful compost/soil, we now have a much larger one, so it's redundant. It's always the things that I think will make little money that sell the best/for most.

And don't take the hit on the 6p scheduled listing tonight - edit the auction (if you're around of course) just before you want it to go live and change the scheduled listing to 'start immediately' - that's how I do all my listings - schedule them for Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday so that they're all ready to go and I can do them throughout the week and then on the night they are due to list I edit them all and change them to list immediately, costs me nothing and I can bang through about 30 in less than 15 minutes!

Still have 200+ donated items to list over the next 2 weeks and I need to get them done ASAP so that we can pay final surgery bill.

Thank you again x

VoldemortsNipple · 17/10/2010 15:01

Can I join in.

I dont know if I have enough to make £300 but will have a go. Im a bit of a novice at ebay but I have sold a few things.

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 16:28

DebsCee - thanks for the tip! I was also thinking I should just pay the 6p to schedule my items so will try your way!

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/10/2010 18:17

OMG, after one week, I have made over £93 selling Duplo and some other toys. I have never done so well in a week on ebay, even bearing in mind I have to take 10% off that figure to pay ebay fees.

So there is your answer, whoever wants to know if now is the time to list toys for Christmas. Only 3 out of 22 auctions failed to sell. I have relisted 2 lots and one has already had a bid so will sell next week. Fantastic!

I have listed a load of other bits and bobs - stocking fillers for older kids mainly - if anyone wants to look. My listings

Hope everyone else is having as much fun as me.

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 18:30

That's brilliant!!! I was asking about toys last week - I will definitely list some this week.

I am now watching 2 of your items aswell!!

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 18:59

Well- I did okay last week... £50.
More finishing tonight, not too high yet, but loads of watchers, so fingers crossed.

This thread has been a fantastic kick in the bum though- thank you everyone Smile

I've really got into the habit of listing (just 5 items, twice a week) and the money is making a real difference for us- have managed to buy nearly all my christmas presents from the profits now. (and DS's stocking fillers courtesy of DG Wink)

Do you all still list over the christmas period?
I was wondering if it's worth it, once the post starts getting chocka... but then I guess people are at home a lot more, and escaping their families online over the holidays, so might be a good time for listings?

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 19:00

DebsCee just seen your tip re scheduled listing- that is fantastic tip- thank you! Grin

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 19:09

Gruffle - my ds had the same Jojo snowsuit! I came across it last week and considered ebaying it but I'm not sure (still clinging onto ds' babyhood - he's now 8yrs!! Hmm!!)

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 19:16

Mogs- really... dig it out- I sold DS's 6-12mo one a fortnight ago for £19.00! Shock

They go for really good money, especially as they wash so well- DS had plenty of use out of it, but it still looks immaculate.

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/10/2010 19:19

Does anyone know if books are worth listing? I sold a few in the past - in little sets of 3/4 books per listing. I have loads of children's books but nothing special. I always think by the time you have charged postage, it isn't worth anyone's while bidding for books.
