I think ds' one is 18-24m. I loved it so much - that's really sad isn't it?!!! I'm a cm and keep thinking I'll use it for mindees but they all come in their own coats etc and I have a million blankets so the chances of it ever being used are almost zero! Hmmm, I'll think about it this week... Grin

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 19:23

Dumbledore - I have so many children's books - I think that's a great idea to list in groups of 3 or 4. I think I might sort through mine and get them listed too (my list of items to be ebayed is at about 489234 now!!).

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/10/2010 19:25

Don't expect to make more than about 25p per book though Sad but maybe just before Christmas is a better time to try?

LOL at so many things to list. I find myself walking round the house looking for something decent to offload, and the kids hide their things when they see me coming.

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 19:27

DG- I think it depends on how 'classic' the books are... as, yes, postage adds lots to books. I have bought books in the past- Shirley Hughes and things like that, and there was plenty of competition for them, also ladybird books.

Anything very popular, people are more likely to pick up either cheaply on Amazon, or in charity shops.

I have only ever listed books once- sold 2 out of 3, but not for much, and with fees/postage made about 50p per item, not really worth it as I do not have much time to spend on mailing out.

Mogs- might be worth your while... especially if winter is as cold as last year- emphasize it's value in snowy weather Grin

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 17/10/2010 19:28

DD's have just produced a tub of Barbie/sindy/other type dolls which they don't want anymore! Don't know whether to do one big bundle or split them.

notcitrus · 17/10/2010 19:37

Gruffle - I sold loads last year and you get lots of bids until around 12 December, when it stops dead for three weeks. We got some bargains just afterwards!

One item of mine is doing well, selling for over £20, but most isn't selling - see link for stuff ending in one hour. Annoyingly I missed the 'page 2' of unsold items during the last free list day, so half of mine aren't up for sale atm. Grr...

see listings ending in an hour!

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 19:42

Thanks notcitrus....um- you've linked to my auctions there! Grin

Very, very lovely of you though

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 19:45

AH- the link goes to "My ebay, selling" so of course, it goes to my auctions for me as I'm logged in Confused

Dunno what anyone else can see...

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 19:53

I can see my own listings

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 17/10/2010 20:04

Me too. Grin
Now have 4 out of 20 with a bid! How crap is that lol!! Not long left on all 20 either.

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 20:11

Ah tortoise- that's naff.

re barbies- what about a few smaller bundles? People will be buying for presents now presumably, and might be put off by the sheer amount taking over their house!

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 20:12

I have 4 out of 7 items with a bid but all have watchers so I'm hoping there'll be some last minute bidding! Mine aren't finishing until 10/11pm so I'm going to go and list a few things now to help pass the time and to limit the amount of times I hit refresh!!!

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 17/10/2010 20:20

Looked in completed listings and a bundle of 25 dolls sold for £36!
I have 22 dolls, pile of clothes and some shoes. Not all Barbie though. Some are disney princess dolls.
TBH i'm not worried about how much i get for them so might do one big bundle or 2 listings, a doll bundle then clothes and shoes bundle.

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/10/2010 20:22

I can't believe it, three of the things I listed this weekend already have bids (Grufflemummy - now you are being greedy! Wink)

I am sorry some of you others aren't doing as well. Get listing those toys I tell you!

notcitrus · 17/10/2010 20:39

Whoops Gruffle!
Well one item did well and the rest didn't sell, including the brand new Parker pen.

Time to relist and pay fees on some items, I think.

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 21:04

Grin Oh- they are just trifles DG!

I already got DS' main present- an elc rocket and moon lander set, with the cute spacemen and alien and dog... he's going to love it!

DD still plays with the duplo every day though, so I reckon he'll get a good 4 years play out of it.

DebsCee · 17/10/2010 21:24

Based on the previous 2 years I would say keep re-listing up until about 20 days before Christmas, and then start again from about mid-Jan.

It may take 3 or 4 weeks for your items to sell if you start now, but if they are saleable then they will do before Christmas.

We've had some new with tag items on for 99p for ages, but they aways sell this time of year - November was our biggest month for fund raising in 2009. Our listings are all here

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 21:27

Interesting Debs- maybe people get into the christmas spirit with the real meaning of christmas?

DebsCee · 17/10/2010 21:39

GM - maybe, but being cynical I think people are more like me and just buy more last minute the closer we get to the 25th December :)

High street shops seem to record their highest Christmas sales during November so I'm hanging on to that!

Grufflemummy · 17/10/2010 21:45

True... but if I have a choice of 2 similar items, and one is a charity sale, then I'll go for that one (within reason), but maybe that's just me!

Well- I just made £60, so very pleased!

Just listing my things to end next week, then got to go and get the bags ready for in the morning

mogs0 · 17/10/2010 22:45

I've just sorted out a load of wooden cars ready to take pics and my lovely slr camera, which has hardly been used, won't turn on Sad I'll be very sad if it's unfixable. My mobile packed in this morning aswell but at least I have many old phones around the place to replace it in the short-term. The camera cost me a fortune and I definitely won't be able to replace it any time soon.

Well, I suppose I'd better get all my things listed rather than just talking about it!

On the plus side, I did find quite a few nice cars to put on and still have the ELC wooden garage that I didn't get round to putting on last year.

Tillyscoutsmum · 18/10/2010 11:40

Oooooh - my first ever item ends today [too excited !]. There are 7 watchers and 2 bids so far. I've got 9 watchers on some other items which don't end for another 5 days. I still have "constant checkitis" and will be a nightmare as the auction ends get closer Grin

mogs0 · 18/10/2010 13:08

Tilly - I find coming on here is a good distraction!! I hope you get lots of bids!

I'm a bit Blush. The camera I thought was knackered, isn't actually broken, it just had a very flat battery because it hasn't been used for such a long time!

I made £55 over the weekend (less fees) with 5 items unsold. I'm off to post some of it now then listing for a couple of hours before school!

crumblyfudge · 18/10/2010 13:30

I read this thread and its given me the 'oompf' i needed to get selling!!!

Here We go!!

DeadlyNightShadeofViolet · 18/10/2010 13:33

Well done to all those who made money oer the weekend.

Glad the camera isnt broken Mogs :o

Just listed a few more things to try and get my total a bit closer to £100 without fees.
