mogs0 - i always ask for payment within 48 hrs or 24 hrs if its as expensive item ie electricals. Not had any problems, just explain you are going away and you want the buyer to recieve their item as soon as possible.

Shitty Grin - post a link, i need curtains. AngryAngry about your burgalry!!

ShittyBangBang · 17/11/2010 15:21

my items

ShittyBangBang · 17/11/2010 15:22

So far I have made £267.50 on two items alone, but that has long been spent Grin

FrameyMcFrame · 17/11/2010 16:04

Nobody is even watching my childs riding hat, never mind bidding.
I thought that would be something that would sell quickly on ebay?
On the other hand I have 15 watchers on the dress that I thought no one would like...
Very strange.

ShittyBangBang · 17/11/2010 17:28

May sell yet framey.

Ive managed to get hold of a camera so listed a few more bits.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 17/11/2010 19:39

DG - your clothes look good on that background.

More things added and our 75 items are here

We've raised £603 before fees in the last 30 days, and still approximately 150 items to list yet, but we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel :)

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/11/2010 19:49

Oh no, this ebay thing is really getting to me now. No bids on any of my items, actually only 2 watchers Shock and now someone has contacted me about a sale back at the beginning of November saying she hasn't received the item. I posted it on the 8th and I have a certificate of posting. Anyone know what I should do? I am inclined to just refund her as I can't be bothered to chase around Royal Mail. Sad

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 17/11/2010 20:13

Framey TBH i wouldn't buy a 2nd hand helmet (sorry) just in case it had been dropped etc. Same with cycle helmets. It may still sell though. Smile

So far 5 of my items will sell. Smile

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 17/11/2010 20:41

DG - Royal Mail won't consider it lost or undelivered until 14 days past posting - so personally I'd refund on the 23rd if still not received and on the same day put in a claim to RM - it takes RM a while to refund you but you only have to write a letter/fill in a claim form once and then wait for your cheque so it's not too much hassle. Tell your buyer that you'll refund them on the 23rd if still not received by then.

And if I were you I'd re-list all of your unsold items for 7 days to end on either a Sunday or Monday night - bet you'll sell at least 50% of them then :)

Dumbledoresgirl · 17/11/2010 21:04

Thanks dinosaur, I do appreciate your helpful replies. Smile

I think I have almost come to an end with my current ebay splurge - as a seller anyway, the buying fun has only just begun Smile.

I have sold nearly every toy I listed, but books and clothes just don't seem to be attracting anyone right now. (though, funny this, every coat I am watching with a view to buying for my dd has had several bids already Hmm) So unless things change in the next couple of weeks, I will have made only £209 before ebay fees and having to refund my seller whose item hasn't arrived. Not bad, but a bit short of the £300.

mygirllollipop · 17/11/2010 21:21

Well if everyone pays I've made £370.40 so far! Not expecting anything else to sell, and don't think I'll re-list.
DH just seen the total and wants to hit £400 so is wanting to raid the house! To be fair we have a viewing on Monday so could do with less things in the house.

FrameyMcFrame · 17/11/2010 22:11

I didn't think of that Tortoise, but it's true.
Also you really need to try helmets on I suppose.

I'm going to start listing some bundles of children's clothes next as I've never done that before.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 18/11/2010 00:58

DG - Glad to be of help, hope you don't think I'm lecturing/bullying Wink Don't give up, try listing everything you have left so that everything ends on a Sunday evening somewhere between 8pm and 8.45pm and I'll bet you they will sell within 3 weeks. And bundle all those books, take a photo of them all together, add all the specifics in the item details for your clothes and you'll sell everything before Christmas I bet :)

ShittyBangBang · 18/11/2010 08:32

OMG, I have 29 watchers on a pair of curtains and 19 and the other pair!! Shock Never had so many watchers on something so soon!

DirtyMartini · 18/11/2010 08:32

I'll be keeping your advice in mind too, Dinosaurs v helpful. So Sunday night is the best, then? I do like this thread it has made me money, for sure, and lots of others too no doubt. :)

52 watchers on my weirdly popular car seat footmuff now Shock. It ends this evening at 9:50. I am all agog to see the final few seconds.

Our Catimini snowsuit had sod-all interest though, so I ended the auction early and am going to rethink it and try again. I guess I priced it too high (I put a £4.99 start, as it was £60 new and is immaculate) because I sort of hate the idea of getting peanuts for it. Emotional investment = bad selling results!

DirtyMartini · 18/11/2010 08:33

lol Shitty -- high watcher counts rock!

ShittyBangBang · 18/11/2010 08:39

I think loads of people will only really look at the lower starting snowsuits DM tbh. I know I do anyway as they are only in them for tht one winter and I'm tight

DirtyMartini · 18/11/2010 08:53

Yeah - I know in my heart you're right. Will try again when I'm feeling braver. It is a bit sentimental but not the kind of item I have space to hang onto so I'll have to get ruthless about it eventually and do a 99p start type thing.

ShittyBangBang · 18/11/2010 09:02

Can someone have a look at my teatro dress and see if I should put cocktail dress in the title. Not really sure what I should put.

I know what you mean re being sentimental. I had a couple of bit of both dc's that they come home from the hospital in that I couldnt let go of, but in the end I had to. Didn't sell them though, I passed them on to good friends.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 18/11/2010 11:41

Just noticed i have been left neutral feedback for 2 items bought by same seller. Just because they asked me to send to a different address to the one on Paypal! Had they been in UK i might have chanced it but the address on paypal was Belgium. I didn't want to risk it.

Some bits ending later. Not expecting many to sell! Most have no watchers!

DirtyMartini · 18/11/2010 12:03

Tortoise, how maddening! Can see why you were inclined to be cautious.

PurpleFrog · 18/11/2010 13:25

Well - you were right - they will waive insertion fees this weekend....

.....but only if you donate a percentage to "Children in Need"! (Min donation £1) You do get a percentage of your final value fee credited as well, though.

ShittyBangBang · 18/11/2010 15:33

Why do they not just donate all final value fees from all sales?

Lulabel27 · 18/11/2010 16:34

Everything going well and have a new load of stuff on now! It's so distracting though as I refresh eBay every 10 minutes to see if I have any bids.... I know what you mean about the "lost" feeling when you're not selling anything that ends in the next day or so...

Don't know if you remember I raised a query because a buyer bought my broken iPhone and I sent it recorded but RM have lost it... I've refunded the guy :-( I'll just have to claim the £41 back from RM next week (I sold it for £140). Expensive lesson learnt...

Does anyone have any thoughts on starting price? I put a DKNY bodywarmer on that sold for £5.50. I started bidding at £5 so only has 2 unique bidders. Do you think it would have sold for higher if I'd started it at 99p and "roped people in" so to speak?

my items now

DirtyMartini · 18/11/2010 18:00

Quite, ShittyBangBang! Not really very generous of them considering eBay is so massively profitable.

Bad luck Lulabel :( As for roping people in, yes, I think that does make a difference sometimes.Bit scary though, feels like a gamble.
