A thread to check in and say how we are feeling with no judgment. Taking one day at a time.

I will have a look at it too.
Feel totally fed up and like a total failure. 😔

You are not a failure. You've been failed by the diet industry. Everytime you try and fail you lose more self esteem and your confidence gets a battering. I've just ordered my book. It arrives on Sunday. If we could only see ourselves for who we really are.

cheeseisthebest · 17/06/2022 21:23

Thank you, maybe I should get it.
Please can we keep this thread going we all need it

Having a difficult evening today. I haven’t binged, but I certainly ate more than I needed to. Feeling a bit uncomfortable and it’s definitely put me in a bad mood.

BusterGonad · 17/06/2022 21:27

I'm always going to be here. It feels really good just to get out my feelings to others who understand. I'm off to bed now. I hope everyone gets a good night's sleep and wakes up feeling a little brighter and more positive. 🙂

I ALWAYS get moody after a binge, the sugar highs and lows and the utter dispair at giving in again. I feel loathsome after. Try to relax with it. Be kind to yourself. We are all still learning how to move on and get over the conditioning we've learnt. ❤️

PashunFroot · 17/06/2022 21:38

I’m going to do 5 minutes on my bike and some yoga and hope that gives me the boost. So happy to have finally found an exercise I actually enjoy and gives me that dopamine boost I get from choccy!

it was a really normal amount of food though, which is why I don’t understand why I’m feeling crap. (Probs because it was McDonald’s tbh!) i fact I should be happy that for once I didn’t buy enough food for 23 people and sit and eat it in the car!

LucyLatimer · 18/06/2022 07:07

You’re not a failure @cheeseisthebest . the fact that you’re here talking about it is such a positive thing. Ordered the book too, it looks interested. Like I said, I am so scared of intuitive eating, but I just get bigger and bigger by restricting myself in my head and then rebelling against that, it’s got to be worth a go to take the importance away from food

It is the hardest thing to let go of the idea of wanting to lose weight - but to overcome binge eating it is essential that you at least shelve it for a while and rebuild your relationship with food and your body. Dieting screws that up completely - restricting food, which is necessary and pleasurable, makes it more desirable than it should be, then when we fail to keep to these (often insane) restrictions, we immediately feel like a failure and the fuck it mentality then often leads to it almost being a punishment, not even enjoyable.

Also, from childhood we are also brainwashed into thinking there is a perfect body shape/size that we should all possess. The media reinforces this so strongly. A very tiny minority of people actually have that body in RL (and they are usually very young). Pay more attention to the bodies around you, especially now that the weather is warm and they are less disguised by clothes. There are all shapes and sizes and they are fine. It’s a sad truth though that a large proportion of people, especially women, are unhappy with its their bodies, even the ones most people would think of as their aspiration.

LucyLatimer · 18/06/2022 08:25

Yes that’s really true. Eating ‘normally’ is just a much of a challenge after so many years or diets and all of the conditioning that goes with it. I haven’t eaten a standard 3 meals for over 19 years, whilst making sure everyone else has that. Yes, this weather is certainly eye opening, very few people appear truly confident and relaxed with their bodies, particularly women

I'm going to stick around as well. It's not an easy thing to talk about in RL is it

BusterGonad · 18/06/2022 09:17

Eating normally is so bloody hard. Insanely difficult. I've woken up in a more positive mood. I'm actually tempted to go out looking for clothes. I ordered the book and a Bourjois lipstick off of Amazon last night. I'm tempted to look for another bikini. The same as the one I've just bought but a different colour. It's good buying them as it forces me to accept my body.

PashunFroot · 18/06/2022 09:25

I need to get some shorts that don’t make me look like miss trunchable. I usually wear skirts but I spend a lot of my time on the floor now at baby groups so need something that’s not flashing my knickers. I’m so so so scared to wear shorts in front of people though!

BusterGonad · 18/06/2022 09:36

I've been buying mine from American Eagle, they do loads of denim cut off style that aren't too short. I think mine are mom shorts. One patchwork pair, one with embroidered flowers (they sound horrible but I like them) and a super cheap pair in the sale mom curvy shorts which don't really suit me as I'm not curvy in the hips or bum just a bigger tummy. But they were £4 so I'll keep them. Also have you looked into crying shorts or modesty shorts to wear under skirts?

BusterGonad · 18/06/2022 09:37

Cycling shorts! I bought some black seemless ones from H&M.

BusterGonad · 18/06/2022 09:41

These. I don't mind my legs, they are skinny in comparison to my boobs and tummy.

If you are anxious about your legs I suggest wearing leg make up. Rimmel do/did one with shimmer or matt. You rub it on like foundation and it washes off. I love it as my legs are extreamly pale. It's amazing the confidence it gives you also Liberata leg blur gets great reviews.

Have you seen fabfatand40plus on instagram. She is a similar size and height to me and I she looks and and is very body posituve. I was inspired by one of her outfits and bought something similar for my holiday. Sally Hansen airbrush legs is pretty good too. Do you have a new flight yet @BusterGonad ?

The flight is a bit of a shit show, we need to email them 24 hours before the new flight is due for them to book us on it. What is that all about? Its causing me so much anxiety as I just cannot plan for it.

BusterGonad · 18/06/2022 10:27

I cannot find fab, fat and 40 plus!

cheeseisthebest · 18/06/2022 12:27

So I've got a different attitude today. It's my youngest childs 11th birthday and we've been out for brunch. Normally I would clear my plate and snaffle any leftovers, because it would be a one off and I would be getting straight back on the diet afterwards so I had to make the most of it!
But today I didn't, instead I just had my own but it was too much and I actually for once left food on my plate, which is normally unheard of!

cheeseisthebest · 18/06/2022 12:28

That is so crap about your flights x

PashunFroot · 18/06/2022 12:44

Thankyou all I’ll have a look at the shorts. I do need to get some cycle shorts but I only want to pay primark prices haha and they only had xs last time I went in. Put a lovely dress on today and felt great then realised ti couldn’t breastfeed in it so back in the wardrobe it went haha!

That's amazing. I'm so pleased for you. That's why dieting is so bad. You've done so well and I bet you had a better time without the fear and stress and worrying about what you will and won't eat. You are a star. 🌟
