My clinic store for free for the 1st year, last week they had 12 now down to 7. I think I will order 3 just now and work from there, it does include a pregnancy slot.

Donor is Danish and there is a couple of things I liked about him, he really appears to have thought about his decision to donate, in his letter he address the potential child which I thought was nice and he was the one donor who recognised in his letter that he might be helping a single person.

Karendvm · 28/03/2017 19:30

Bear I ordered one at a time and used a different bank and donor each time. So I'm no help to you! Lol. I just didn't care that much. I really liked my first donor, but he wasn't available the next time so I just chose someone. And off I went!

Sorry to be mia. I've been having all sorts of panic and didn't want to be a downer. This weekend my symptoms just lifted. Yesterday, just gone. I freaked. Flew to the doctor. Made them request an ultrasound. They wanted to do a beta hcg.......,wtf for? Anyhow, everything is fine. Heart beat today of 171. Got more pictures. The tech was so great. And now I'm feeling symptoms back in full force. Sigh. Driving myself insane. I think maybe with the vanishing twin my hormones may have slowed a bit and so I felt a bit better. The stress never ends.

So hi to everyone!

Late how are you doing?

Pez I'm so glad you got some eggs and the free icsi sounds ideal. Fingers crossed for you.

Kwick I hope the weight loss isn't too much of a struggle for you.

pickle162 · 28/03/2017 19:31

So I decided that as I was in the pill and I wasn't checking for LH surge anymore that I would every now again check that I wasn't having any surges. I can safely say not even a feint line and would have something there from around day 10 even tho wasn't positive and nothing on tests I've done ✅ yay!! Come on body keep playing ball little body 😁

kwick good news about the job, I am sure you are doing the right thing if it means less stress and travel. I would like to have more than 1 but time may not be on my side by the time I am ready to try again and clinic gets special delivery rates so that's not really an issue.

karen I think it's only natural to worry every step of the way, sounds like a nice strong heartbeat though so hopefully that will put your mind at ease for a while. I was also planning on ordering 1 at a time until I read this donors profile. There are a few others I liked but this one just clicked for me.

I think I will order 3 cause initial plan is 3 IUIs then consider IVF, perhaps I would switch donor then too. At least this way they will all be in the clinic waiting and like pickle says I won't need to think of that cost again for a while.

CautionHormone · 28/03/2017 19:37

I remember Pickle! I remember how stressed you were when AF didn't arrive on time for you last time... Even though I've got endo, my cycles have always been relatively regular - 25-27 days - and I think I ovulate around CD 16. I'm going to spend from now until August really keeping an eye on my cycles, my surges and my symptoms just so I know my body inside out before I start.

Does anyone have any advice on charting your temp? I think you have done it, Pez?
I just ask because I think I'm going to start once this period is out the way. I came on this morning and it's the AF from hell - I think because I'm still swollen and sore inside!
Isn't temping a more sure way of knowing when you've ovulated? I can't see myself ever getting to grips with OPK's so I wanted to try charting my temp, too!

Bear, I'd say buy "in bulk" too. That's what I plan to do when I come round to starting, purely because it's better to have more than not enough!! What's your donor like? Smile

Bear1980 · 28/03/2017 19:38

Yay pickle hopefully a good sign for your cycle GinSmile

Bear1980 · 28/03/2017 19:39

Lol pickle not sure how I managed to add the gin emoji 😂

pickle162 · 28/03/2017 19:41

Awe that is nice bear nice that he recognises us single ladies :)
Nice to hear from you karen glad everything was ok and scan was ok. Nice fast heartbeat too. Hoping that little bean stays right where they are!!! As u stay could be the change in hormone from that other little sack or maybe some days u feel more than others, I don't know. Just glad everything ok
How many weeks are u now? 8/9?

CautionHormone · 28/03/2017 19:43

Oops cross post!

Kwick, good luck with your job. I think you're doing the right thing... Stress and travel isn't good for future babies, and it seems like you'll feel a lot more settled in the new one. Hope it all goes well for you Flowers

Karen, I'm so glad the baby's heartbeat was nice and strong Smile not glad about your symptoms, but I guess they're there for a reason?! Wink can't quite understand why they've asked for a beta, but it may make you feel better nonetheless. When will you get the results?

pickle162 · 28/03/2017 19:45

Haha bear 🐻** shame I'm not drinking (don't think I have any occasions now where I will make an excuse for drinking-healthy eggs all the way for me now....hopefully

Caution I did temp for last months cycle, yes shows ovulation more clearly- temp goes higher after ovulation and stays like it for luteal phase then drops at AF so you have a biphasic cycle. Doing that for a month and half reassured me that things were working properly

Pez82 · 28/03/2017 19:49

Caution, I temped for 7 cycles along with opks and it gave me a lot of info on my cycles. Especially the ones before I started treatment as after that it wasn't so regular...
I have to say though that this month has been a nice break from temping and trying to spot my surge!

StorkAhoy · 28/03/2017 19:56

Hey everyone!

pez great number 13!!! Well done, and sensible on the icsi, high chance of fertilisation. I have literally everything crossed for you! Thanks for the info too!

Thank you to all who answered my query in short v lite ivf. At some clinics it seems the same, but at others it seems quite different i.e., short = no down regulation, but same level of stims, where as ivf lite means less stims.

Research will get me over this hump. I hope. Xx

hvik · 28/03/2017 20:59

Hi everyone, this is a great thread.
Me: 38, single, just decided on a clinic for donor IUI, or did I... (still need to get some price list from them...)
Thinking of using CRGH. Kwick, I see you have been using them for a while. Any advice/opinion on them which you would be happy to share with me?
Anyone tried NHS clinics? Guy's Hospital would be the closest clinic for me but I am not sure if they are as efficient (can schedule quick, etc) as other clinics. Plus they don't seem to do egg freezing on it's own (i.e if not in an IVF treatment).
I would like to freeze some eggs for potential future usage in the start of the process provided I have some. No medical tests done yet, so I have really no clue.

Oh and where do you ladies get the magic potion? LSB or abroad? Any good/bad experiences?

Kwick, I love the steps, I can fully relate :).

Pez, good to hear they found a solution for that unbelievable mistake. I hope all went as planned today.

Karen, I hope your singleton is growing happily. Stay positive. Fingers crossed!

I am very much up for a meetup (if I am accepted as complete newbee...)

HopingForALittleOne · 28/03/2017 21:09

Pez just popped on to see how it went today -13, congratulations xxxx

pickle162 · 28/03/2017 21:12

Kwick didn't see your post earlier- my posts just seem to post twice but no show up urs 😡
Exciting about new job prospects-if it means less traveling and stress then all worth it! Good luck x

Welcome hvik guys hospital links in with my very local clinic (but couldn't see anything about iui and didn't want to have to travel into London for anything they couldn't do) I found there prices quite expensive compared to others so I went against them even tho the linked clinic is 10mins drive 🙄
I got my donor from Brighton sperm bank and think they are fab, such friendly/helpful staff.
All these girlies are so knowledgeable and kind, sure they will answer any questions....my knowledge only goes up so far

Anyone is welcome to the meet up which we are yet to do anything about to organise 😂

Karendvm · 28/03/2017 21:29

Welcome hvik.

kwick somehow I can't find your post about your job, but from the others comments it sounds positive!

Seems like crazy cross posting today and weird double posts and missing posts. This thread sure can move fast!!!

hvik · 28/03/2017 21:32

thanks for the info Pickle.
Interesting you say Guys seemed pricey, from their price list online they seemed cheaper than the others in London to me (but not big differences...)
Brighton Sperm bank, noted, I'll check it out. I have only checked LSB and the Danish one (only found 1 and 2 donors in each... I am picky, I know. My mother tells me too :) )

And apologies I realised just after posting that I only read the first page of the thread...

Pez, I am glad to hear all went well today and ICSI sounds like a good choice. Although I am a newbie from what I read it seems like the most certain option...

Bear, great Gin emoticon. Can you find the Rum as well? :) interesting point on the bulk buying.... another one to think abt... ohhhhh

StorkAhoy · 28/03/2017 21:38

hvik welcome! Yes we are a bunch of chatty cathys here, this is thread 6 or 7 I think! I'm 38 too, but not London based, I'm with (at least at the moment) care fertility in northampton, they have their own sperm bank. I'm looking at potentially changing clinics now my second failed ivf was unsuccessful, I'm thinking maybe CRGW in Wales as it's amazing great value for money and they too have their own sperm bank.

Alternatively there's always clinics abroad, I'm investigating Cyprus at the moment.

Any questions, please just ask.

witchmountain · 28/03/2017 21:45

Karen glad everything was ok. Please don't worry about being a downer! Isn't that the point of this thread?!

Kwick good the job thing is moving. Any idea who you'll be handing over to? It sounds to me like you're hugely valuable to them. Just don't get landed with two jobs during the transition!!

Stork one way or another the hump will be surmountable. Looking forward to hearing what you've got planned next when you decide.

Late good luck tomorrow!

Hvik welcome! Of course you'd be accepted! I used LSB and all was well. No knowledge of NHS clinics I'm afraid, I used LWC. One thing I would say though is think about IVF as well as IUI because if you want to freeze eggs then you will have to go through the first half of IVF anyway, i.e. taking the drugs to generate follicles from which eggs would be collected. Having got that far they might as well fertilise the eggs outside you and put one embryo back in and freeze the rest. I initially thought I'd do IUI, then when I realised I needed to delay I assumed I would freeze eggs. However when I talked to a consultant she explained that embryos freeze much better than eggs, so really the only reason to freeze eggs over embryos would be if you anticipated meeting a partner whose sperm you wanted to use in the future. I would like two children and I produce quite a lot of eggs - she thought we'd only need one cycle if I froze embryos but she recommended three cycles if I was freezing eggs. Worth thinking and asking about anyway.

Pez82 · 28/03/2017 21:48

Welcome hvik!

Thanks for your messages everyone. I've realised that I'd previously arranged dial-in meetings all morning tomorrow which I can't move now so probably won't be able to pick up the phone when the embryologist calls 😬

They didn't tell me how many were mature. If I understood well they're doing ICSI on all 13.

I feel surprisingly really good (apart from very swollen nipples - never happened to me before and it's not the nicest feeling eek)

And yes the thread is really busy these days!!!

witchmountain · 28/03/2017 21:52

Pez they may only have told you about the mature ones (i.e. the 13). I don't remember being told X number of eggs and Y were mature. I think I read that it's actually illegal for them to attempt to fertilise an immature egg, so I'd say you had 13 mature ones which is fab!

Maybe you will mysteriously cut off from your dial in meeting when your other phones rings Grin

Pez82 · 28/03/2017 21:52

Oh and yes, late, best of luck tomorrow for the transfer!! Remember, warm feet, warm food and drinks, high proteins and low carbs, no fizzy drinks and no raw vegs Wink
Im not buying a pineapple this month, will focus on ginger infusions instead!

Pez82 · 28/03/2017 21:54

Ah ah witch, I'm chairing 2 out of the 3 so can't really cut off 😖 #shouldhaveplanneditbetter

Everhopeful76 · 28/03/2017 21:55

Kwik so sorry hope it didn't put you off potentially using IVI -Spain. Just didn't get the vibe I was hoping for and am getting desperate and feel time is running out too but could have been just not jelling with the Dr I spoke to, although no point doing PGS on the few embryos I would make. Miraculously I have retained 5 follicles (didn't think I even had that many) and did feel that my fertility would have dropped massively in the time it was last checked. I read on another thread someone had had 5, a similar AMH and was pregnant with twins so I guess anything is possible. Fingers crossed for us all xx

Hi Witch am happy to set up a spin off weight loss thread if anyone is keen or we could highlight an alert in the post so others can skim past if its not something they re dealing with. I just cant keep the pace up on here at moment, was on here less than 24 hrs ago and we ve got reams more!! Whoever recommended the fitapp, thank you I ll check it out.

Late I think the Drs name was David Colson?? at Manchester Fertility. Seemed personable enough until he opened his mouth to speak really but he did get lynched. Unfortunately very ill advised to over focus on women's careers being the catalyst for poor fertility outcomes later on. Of course you cant change biology but some peoples fertility decline quicker than others and he said if AMH is undetectable (like mine) then its a less than 1 pc chance of a pregnancy. I got pregnant with that, and countless others have before. He kept changing his opinion and was back peddling. Left me feeling pretty negative about it all

Pez congrats on your egg yield and you must be relieved.

Welcome Hvik Waving to everyone else contributed since last night, I cant remember the rest!! x

Everhopeful76 · 28/03/2017 22:02

PS Sorry Late just realised your having a transfer tomorrow, hope all goes well and keep warm x
