This thread is for anyone trying to conceive... or thinking about doing so through donor IUI or donor IVF. Nothing TMI - feel free to join, we are a lovely group here to support and help keep the cray-cray away!

Hmmm but karen not all relationships are plain sailing - so I would prefer to be alone than badly accompanied! That said I am a hopeless romantic and still waiting for Mr Right to knock on my door.
BTW not sure if you saw that a new version of Anne of Green Gables has been made with Martin Sheen as Matthew? I still prefer the Megan Follows version - which I have on DVD Grin

I think someone else trying to be positive or not positive too close to me would piss me off. I know friends do and they all mean well but don't really get it

HopingForALittleOne · 05/04/2017 09:24

Thanks everyone xx

Kwick interesting news about the re-make but I have to say even the original film has nothing on the books. I loved the whole series of Anne of Green Gables books when I was growing up x :)

PhoenixMama · 05/04/2017 09:53

Great news Karen & Hoping - congratulations!!!

I LOVED Anne of Green Gables (especially the Megan Follows version) in fact DD went as her last month for World Book Day Grin!

Off to the hospital with DD now to have her tonsils out. Was up half the night worrying so I don't worry in front of her.

Catch you all later!

CreatingADream · 05/04/2017 10:04

I just started a thread, I am not sure how I missed this one. Hoping it's OK to join in.

30, single, London - not entirely sure which route I will go down yet. Still in the early days of this decision.

witchmountain · 05/04/2017 10:54

Welcome Dream! Definitely ok to join in.

Not sure how much of the thread you've read but there are some intros at the beginning. I'm also single. I spent a few months seeing if the idea stuck around and then took myself off to a couple of clinic open days/evenings (London Women's Clinic and the Lister - LWC does specific sessions for single women and same sex female couples). Following that I booked a consultation with LWC to get a check up and to discuss options. No hurry for you given your age!

Munrowalker · 05/04/2017 12:03

Hi dream. Welcome to the thread. There's a mix of people here on different journeys but the end goal is the same. There's lots of knowledgeable people on here too so feel free to ask questions.
Great news @Karen and @hoping
Fingers crossed for everyone

Bear1980 · 05/04/2017 12:42

Hi dream I have only recently (officially) started my journey but been thinking about it for a few years. I just finaly cane to the decision that it was time to start trying. There are lots of resources out their (donor conception network, podcasts, you tube channels) which visit all the options available for singletons.

Also been really good to ask people on here what their thoughts are.

Welcome and good luck

cazinge · 05/04/2017 12:51

Welcome dream

My scan went really well this morning, the follicle that was 15mm on Monday is now 27mm Grin & various oth

cazinge · 05/04/2017 12:53

Sorry posted too soon!

Others between 15-18mm

EC has been booked for Friday and only my trigger injection left now. Starting to feel a bit nervous now Confused

witchmountain · 05/04/2017 13:08

Great news Cazinge! Nervous about the egg collection or the bit that comes next?

CreatingADream · 05/04/2017 13:23

Thank you very much for the lovely welcoming messages.

Bear You mention podcasts - are there any good ones I should start off listening to?

Caz Looks like it's exciting news with your scan. Glad that things went well for you today.

cazinge · 05/04/2017 15:36

Nervous about the EC. Having had 3 x IUI the ET will be pretty much the same so am a dab hand at that bit! Will be nice to actually be back at work FT - I have worked all the way through so far but had so many days working at home / have stretched flexible working to its extreme I'm sure my team think I have gone AWOL.

pickle162 · 05/04/2017 16:03

Welcome dream, I'm 33 and single so in similar boat. Everyone is very knowledgeable on this thread you will learn a lot-if you have hours to spare read the previous linked threads we discuss most issues anyone can possible have/think of for iui or ivf :)

I went to the London women's clinic seminar re donor iui, was very informative (that was 18months ago when I was in research mode)

Yay cazinge glad those follies have started to behave and how exciting egg collection on Friday Grinyou'll be fine lovely. We are all here to support along the way

Man I am sleepy today, just procrastinating-I should be finishing my last notes.

In just over a week I should be paying for my meds!! I'm so excited (I know I shouldn't be excited about paying out money!!! But it's the stage I am at-any progression is one step closer!!!!

Pez82 · 05/04/2017 17:08

Welcome dream!!

That's great news Cazinge. I was a bit worried about EC but then I slept the whole time and don't remember a thing!! No pain whatsoever afterwards either, it was like no one/nothing had been there 😉 - much easier than IUI or ET

Are you doing a fresh transfer?

I worked at home the whole week after the collection which means I couldn't really stretch it further after that so was at work the day after the transfer and it's fine really. At least while I'm at work I'm not looking for any suspicious twinge!!

Bear1980 · 05/04/2017 17:21

Yay cazinge that sounds positive, good luck on EC and ET.

dream I listenened to choice moms (it's a podcast by someone in America and its a bit out of date but gave me some insight into what i should think about). There is another podcast called not by accident which is basically someone telling their story and finally I have been listening to just a single mum podcast (single mother survival guide). All of these helped me finalise my decision that I wanted to proceed and here I am Smile

kwick · 05/04/2017 19:12

Oh Hoping I did read the books but after I had seen the TV series and I preferred the TV series. I also went on a road trip to PEI about 10 years ago and was disappointed that it was not more Green Gabely (but they filmed in Ontario). The White Sands hotel was there though!

That is such a great idea for World Book Day phoenix!!! I actually pretended to be her for about 6 months when I was 11
I hope your DD is okay

Welcome @CreatingADream !!!
Fricking wish I had had your presence of mind... maybe too late for me at 42.

Wow caz that is what I call juicy!!!!

OP posts:
witchmountain · 05/04/2017 20:40

I listened to Not by Accident too. Will look out the other ones.

It made me think quite a lot about whether I would try and capture any of this process for the hypothetical child in the future. I think a while back some people on here might have mentioned about that. I did sit down to write something at one point and then it occurred to me that most children don't know much about the circumstances that led up to their conception, so I stopped. Maybe I'll come back to it at some point.

Pez82 · 05/04/2017 21:04

I'm keeping some scan pictures and I've also taken some pretty shameful selfies of myself prior to some of my IUIs and after my egg collection in my hospital gown... not sure yet if I'll do anything with them to create a story... However I definitely want to have a file with my donor's info for the little one. I want them to understand their origins and plan to travel to Denmark when the time is right

Pez82 · 05/04/2017 21:05

'Selfies of myself' - unintended pleonasm ☺️

pickle162 · 05/04/2017 21:22

Yeh totally will be logging any progress if I'm lucky enough

pickle162 · 05/04/2017 21:29

Might make a little scrap book or something

witchmountain · 05/04/2017 21:34

Good word Pez!

Munrowalker · 05/04/2017 21:47

I'm not making a scrap book or anything like that of the conception journey but me and my DH said we would do something every year to mark the donor. Maybe on the IUI date would be nice. Take some photos and write a letter to the donor for a scrap book and encourage our child to do the same when old enough.

I started taking a weekly profile photo with a face mask on...
