I'm getting the Omnipod :)

Diabetic socks?!?!?! Whatever next. Probably like those nasty diabetic shoes you see in the back of Balance magazine. Makes my blood boil!!

RueDeWakening · 15/01/2016 12:50

FFS. Had my bloods done earlier this week. Had clinic this morning. HbA1c result listed as "outstanding". While I'd like to hope that that's the actual result the lab has given, we're fairly sure it isn't... Grin

So now I have to phone back next week to see whether they've found the result yet or whether I have to get it redone. Bollocks. I was hoping it'd be better this time, too.

On the plus side, I've lost half a stone since last time I was there, which is nice!

Also I hadn't realised how much DD is playing on my mind. She's only a few months short of the age I was diagnosed. I know it's silly to worry, but try telling my head that!

RB68 · 15/01/2016 13:03

Hi I am a recent T2 an due on Desmond early Feb. I already know I am going to find it irritating. I had gestational 10 yrs ago and both parents T2 with Dad now heavily reliant on insulin.

I am currently low carbing to get weight off and keep sugar levels low - so have given up all sugar, sweetners, caffeine and wheat for now so over half a stone down and waiting to go back and be retested. I hae a feeling I will be back within normal readings as at the time of the last one that put me into diabetes I was carrying a serious sinus infection that has subsequently been treated!!

SpottyTeacakes · 16/01/2016 07:01

Waking up with a hypo sucks.

paddyclampitt · 17/01/2016 19:34

Blame the cold, *Spotty" !

RueDeWakening I got so paranoid when my kids were the age I was at diagnosis!

RB68 hopefully you will get a good result this time

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2016 19:47

I had half a bottle of wine last night so reduced my basal by 10% but still woke up at 2.7 after some very outrageous odd dreams about a dr at work BlushGrin

RueDeWakening · 17/01/2016 20:30

Grin Spotty is he a nice doctor?

Yeah I hadn't realised how much it's been affecting me tbh. Had a chat with DH on Friday night, not sure he really understood - also talked it through with the dietician I see at the clinic, her DH is also type 1 and she's lovely, so that helped too. Seeing the counsellor in a couple of weeks hopefully for the last time, so will talk to her too.

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2016 20:48

Not particularly! There's a little spark but it's completely harmless.

I'm not sure how I'll feel when the dc are older but I do worry about them. My mum has type 1, my sister and MIL have lupus so what hope do they have??

SpottyTeacakes · 24/01/2016 09:16

I just keep having hypos and it's driving me mad! It's so much effort to sort it out though. There's no rhyme or reason sometimes. I don't think I ever have a whole day where my levels are perfect.

TheFuzz · 25/01/2016 01:03

Spotty are you on a pump ? If you are regularly getting hypos then maybe it's time for a basal adjustment or indeed a meal ratio adjustment. We keep forgetting about this with my son. It works great for ages, then bloods go up the shoot. Time to adjust again.

SpottyTeacakes · 25/01/2016 06:51

I am fuzz and I know I need to look into it but it's just so much effort BlushGrin I think I'm going to try and reduce my evening meal ratio as I'm always having a hypo after dinner

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/02/2016 19:31

Evening! Have just started eldest on the freestyle libre - am hoping he likes it. Next step is a pump. He's beginning to think it is a good idea. Can't believe it is nearly a year since his diagnosis!

Hope you're all doing well.

Spotty - dc has been having lots of hypos recently - I realised he's been doing way more sport and hadn't adjusted ratios accordingly for his supper.

paddyclampitt · 08/02/2016 23:06

Hypo city here last week due to a lot of running, obviously I didn't correct properly!

I love the libre but it is so expensive!

WreckTangled · 13/02/2016 07:17

(Name change)

MrsCB it's great that he's considering the pump it really is amazing.

Paddy how are you coming along with getting a pump?

My levels have been all over the place. I've got an awful cold so would expect to be higher but they're not really. Tbh I've taken my eye off the ball a bit must get back into it.

WicksEnd · 13/02/2016 16:31

How are you finding the Libre MrsC?
I also started it last week ( I'm T1 diagnosed last year) I love it. It wasn't very accurate for the first 3 days but seemed to settle down. I particularly like the trend lines so you know where you're heading. I imagine it's a great tool for parents for scanning at night instead of finger pricking?
There are quite a few parents on the Libre FB group btw, should you need any support.
Shame it's not available on the NHS Sad

MrsCampbellBlack · 13/02/2016 16:38

ds is really loving it - like you the first couple of days were a bit off readings wise.

I don't test him at night which I know is controversial but it is interesting to see his levels through the night.

It has just been approved for under 18's so I think they're now in negotiation with the nhs but we'll continue to fund it as it is making his life so much easier.

I have found it amazing how much illness impacts levels. Hope you feel better soon.

MrsCampbellBlack · 25/02/2016 20:07

It is oh so quiet on here! Hopefully that means things are going well for everyone.

A year tomorrow since DS was diagnosed.

WreckTangled · 11/05/2016 13:17

Helloooooo is anyone there?? I'm really struggling at the moment with hypos and need your pears of wisdom

WreckTangled · 11/05/2016 13:17

Pearls ffs. Serves me right for typing with a bm of 2.7 again

WreckTangled · 12/05/2016 19:21

princessmi12 · 12/05/2016 19:37

Wreck tangled are you t1 or t2

WreckTangled · 12/05/2016 19:43

princessmi12 · 12/05/2016 19:50

I'm T2 sorry probably wouldn't be able to help /advice ((

WreckTangled · 12/05/2016 19:52

Ah thanks anyway Smile

stillstandingatthebusstop · 12/05/2016 19:58

Mum of a type 1 here. Are there any patterns to your hypos? How about setting a temporary basal rate to reduce the hypos in the short term? Go down 10% (as in less insulin)? Maybe it's the hot weather?
