How does it feel tone in here?

I'm just pooling around on my iPad, wasting time, when I realized that Dadsnet is in the club section of mn and wondered how people felt about that?

Would it be more relevant to be in the parenting section, or does there even need to be a separate section?

Just curious, really, but it sort of feels like being a Dad is some kind of hobby group you might sign up to on a Thursday evening, when I suspect that really it's part of everyday life.

MrGin · 17/08/2012 14:56

Well KickTheGuru and KickarseAngel ( the OP ) didn't overlap, I just assumed it was a name change mid thread, nothing wrong with that though.

Sockpuppetry would be her in discussion with herself, and she wasn't doing that.

Changlingz · 17/08/2012 14:58

To be a sock puppet it would have to be someone on this thread.

I have asked mnhq why she was ban. They might tell us?

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 17/08/2012 15:01

Wasn't me!

Trying to keep up but it's moving too fast for me Grin

HelenMumsnet · 17/08/2012 15:02

Afternoon.

We don't want to delete this thread but we do have to ask you all, please, to stop attacking other groups of posters on MN and to stop repeatedly posting details about the recent 'hoohah' in the Feminism section.

To continue to do so looks very much like goading/inflaming - and that's absolutely not on.

NewStartSameStory · 17/08/2012 15:02

There are many kickarse type named posters, it was discussed on another thread a while back. And the op (kickarse) has clearly stated she is in a different timezone which is highly probably.

As they don't comment on policy can't fecking remember the acronim we are unlikely to know.

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 15:04

Helen why was a poster ban please?

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 17/08/2012 15:05

MNHQ intervention!
is that a dadsnet first?

HelenMumsnet · 17/08/2012 15:06

@anairofhopeFORGOLD

Helen why was a poster ban please?

We tend not to broadcast our reasons for banning/suspending posters - not least because, sometimes, the suspension is only temporary.

However, we will drop this particular poster a line.

Changlingz · 17/08/2012 15:08

I think posters have been trying to inflame the thread to get people banned.

SigmundFraude · 17/08/2012 15:08

Is there a particular reason for not wanting anyone to discuss hoohah's? It is rather restrictive, I can't quite understand it, particularly since everyone knows the details anyway.

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 17/08/2012 15:09

i like this thread ,happily bubbleing away tucked away here on dadnet, feels slightly naughty, subversive even.
we knew they had their eye on us with all the deleations but now Helen has erupted onto the page in shocking blue and reproached us, it feels close to dissention!

peoplesrepublicofmeow · 17/08/2012 15:10

i would like to know the details too , all i'm getting atm is rumours and speculation.

NewStartSameStory · 17/08/2012 15:13

Love the fact that it isn't dadsnet getting swept under the carpet.

shhhh its a secret Wink

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 15:20

Ok i didnt know not to ask!

HelenMumsnet · 17/08/2012 15:20

@SigmundFraude

Yes. Because it was a hugely upsetting period for many Mumsnetters. And since the details were discussed at great length at the time, anyone raking over all the details again does rather give the impression of goading/inflaming - which is against our Site rules.

NewStartSameStory · 17/08/2012 15:24

Thing is that is does change the fact that the whole section of feminism can still be an incredibly intimidating area. It was before and it was after. Are you saying we are no longer allowed to voice this opinion?

NewStartSameStory · 17/08/2012 15:24

Just for clarification.

NewStartSameStory · 17/08/2012 15:25

ffs *doesn't change the fact

UnimaginitiveDadThemedUsername · 17/08/2012 15:27

Apologies, but I didn't think that mentioning the 'hoohah' in a folder that has less traffic than the Isle of Sark would be 'goading/inflaming'...

From now on, mum's the word.

MrGin · 17/08/2012 15:30

Yes, but it's all still going on Helen. I've seen at least 4 posts in the last few days of people saying they don't feel able to post in FWR. The same atmosphere is creeping back in there just under different names.

Many of those threads were a small group of people so I don't see how there can be mass upset amongst the MN massive really. Unless you feel the 'radFems' need special protection in some way.

It's not like we have been discussing it at length. Perhaps it should be in the talk guidelines. Don't mention the radFem wars of 2012.

DontstepontheMomeRaths · 17/08/2012 15:34

I've always stayed well away from that area, as it's a tad too intimidating for me. And I do not understand a lot of what they seem to say. In fact I've missed this whole hoohaa it seems. Probably best from the sounds of it. Sorry Helen Blush

So what are people cooking for dinner?

HelenMumsnet · 17/08/2012 15:35

@MrGin

If you have a problem with another poster or a group of other posters, please do report them to us or mail with with your concern. We will then look into it. But posting about your problems with another poster or a group of other posters is counter to our Talk philosophy and, if it strays into a personal attack, is likely to get you deleted - or worse.
