How does it feel tone in here?

I'm just pooling around on my iPad, wasting time, when I realized that Dadsnet is in the club section of mn and wondered how people felt about that?

Would it be more relevant to be in the parenting section, or does there even need to be a separate section?

Just curious, really, but it sort of feels like being a Dad is some kind of hobby group you might sign up to on a Thursday evening, when I suspect that really it's part of everyday life.

when your a dad even if your hands on dad that your just playing at it and the children are the wifes department, she will get the final say in what is good for them, people have asked me if i'm 'babysitting' if i cant come to the pub.

Really?

Changlingz · 17/08/2012 10:44

You are allowed to generalise in Dadsnet.

It's perfectly acceptable.

MrGin · 17/08/2012 10:44

This thread aside, 'Dadsnet' is like a club. A gentlemen's club, where nothing much happens aside from the occasional rustle of newspaper.

We should have a rustling newspaper thread.

KickTheGuru · 17/08/2012 10:46

.. Ahem..

rustles paper>changes leg on knee

MrGin · 17/08/2012 10:47

and

here are the rest of us preparing to make salutations.

This was a great post by Unquietdad.

' I have been here 4 years and Dadsnet has always been a bit like a quiet, empty bar with the odd bloke nursing a pint, some football on a screen in the corner, a buxom barmaid looking surly...

...and a loud, wild, hilarious party of mostly women going on in the room next door.

Occasionally a tipsy woman will stagger in through the doors, clutching a bottle, wearing a party hat and blowing a party vuvuzela. She will then laugh uproariously at us, say what a bunch of saddos we are in here and invite us to come in and join the proper place if we have the balls. She will then slosh and teeter her way back through the door again, cackling madly.'

KickTheGuru · 17/08/2012 10:52

Can I be the token laydee?

MrGin · 17/08/2012 10:53

:)

KickTheGuru · 17/08/2012 10:53

Or the buxom barmaid? Grin

MrGin · 17/08/2012 10:54

Sorry that was to Changelingz.

KicktheGuru, all are welcome in here. Well apart from extremists from any side of the divide.

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 10:57

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 10:58

MrGin · 17/08/2012 11:01

< i mean pipe >

KickTheGuru · 17/08/2012 11:02

So...do we discuss what's happening in the news?

Or do we silently just read it and not commet?

wonders how the talking goes on with all the newspaper reading

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 11:02

Im hiding as i seem to be upsetting people this week, im blaming it on my chest infection and being too blunt with people :(

KickTheGuru · 17/08/2012 11:03

I always upset people. I actually come with a disclaimer

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 11:07

A female friend i worked with over five years ago txt me this week that she is getting married in two months but has not sorted a venue yet. I told her she would be lucky as most places are booked up 6 months in advance. Then she posted on fb that she and her partner have been accepted in the orthodox church where they are getting married in two months time. So she has been to church for the past five years and has been living with here partner for 7 years. It reminds me of the placebo lyric "living in sin while asking God to let her in"

I just dont get it!

MrGin · 17/08/2012 11:10

I think you've got the wrong thread anairofhopeFORGOLD :o

MrGin · 17/08/2012 11:11

I know it's massively confusing having more than one post per day in here. ;-)

anairofhopeFORGOLD · 17/08/2012 11:11

So whats your fav alcoholic beverage?

KickTheGuru · 17/08/2012 11:12
