There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  1. A thought on the season so far (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/(el clasico?)/World Cup bids.

To answer the OP;

  1. Blackpool
  2. none really
  3. took my boy to see the seasiders in LDV trophy final when he was 5 and he started to support them then. He is now 14 and a strong supporter after going to quite a few matches despite living a long way away. I did say when he was born that I did not want him supporting Blackpool as it was at the time a life of pain - but it is now a shared interest and has beengreat for the last few years. One of my daughters is now getting interested so it may be time for her to experience the tangerine dream.
  4. a bit late for this - Man City for PL, Blackpool for playoffs
KenDoddsDadsDog · 05/05/2012 15:14

I'm marginally supporting Liverpool as the team of my University City. But I cannot stand Dalgleish.
Can't bear the thought of John Terry lifting the trophy.

BelfastBloke · 05/05/2012 18:15

oh, yeah. John Terry. C'mon Scousers.

OP posts:
Pan · 05/05/2012 19:46

Couldn't actually watch the lifting of the trophy bit.

ElBurroSinNombre · 05/05/2012 22:15

Had to smile when JT told us 'honestly' that Carrol's header wasn't a goal.

BelfastBloke · 05/05/2012 23:38

Watched our 3-3 draw with Norwich. We should have had two penalties, and Norwich should have had one. All three very clear.

We have not been given a penalty at home ALL SEASON. What's that about?

It's no longer in our hands.

Greetings ElBurro - toughie Blackpool v Birmingham as the managers seems such decent sorts.
Yes BB, what on earth happened? Dream start then just got over run. And now we have crucial oppositional interests in the Barcode-Shitty game.
KDDDD - I haven't even thought about the Swansea game. Today it's "one game at a time" even when we aren't actually playing in it.

Pan · 06/05/2012 14:23

H-T at St James'. So far so good....

BelfastBloke · 06/05/2012 15:03

Newcastle losing. Spurs losing. Happy days, for now.

OP posts:
Pan · 06/05/2012 15:09

20 mins left at St James'. Enough for Cisse/Ba I'd have thought....

BelfastBloke · 06/05/2012 15:17

Dream a little dream, Pan.

My dreams are coming true.

Pan · 06/05/2012 15:51

QPR and beginning to look a bit handy....

CurrySpice · 06/05/2012 15:58

I'm a wolves fan so it's all over for us :(

But Spurs is my second team so I've been COYS screaming at the radio all afternoon

Pan · 06/05/2012 16:05

So a nice 10 niler for us at OT, then Rangers park the van at the Etihad.....

BelfastBloke · 06/05/2012 16:11

This afternoon could have been a LOT worse for Arsenal.

Now against West Brom we just need to match the results of the Spurs and the Newcastle final games. Absolutely must win, to be sure.

Because Chelsea in the Champions' League final could well be very unkind to the team which finishes fourth.

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 06/05/2012 16:13

It'd be more brutal to lose the title on goal difference, wouldn't it Pan? You're 10 behind Citeh?

OP posts:
Pan · 06/05/2012 16:16

yeah, it never comes down to goal difference, does it? HmmSmile

It's still so good that with 90 mins left for most we only know that Wolves (sorry Curry) are down. Everything else goes to nest Sunday. MOTD best have their multi-screen thingy warming up.

CurrySpice · 06/05/2012 16:20

My ex has just been to collect the kids (he's a big spurs fan) with a cloud of despondancy hanging over his head

CurrySpice · 06/05/2012 16:22

I can't remember a season when so many issues (title, relegation, champions league) were still to be decided on the last day.

Apart from us. We decided to get things over with quickly this year :( No survival sunday for us this time

And if any Manchester United fans want to tell me it's worse for them, or any Newcastle fans what to tell me what fun it is in the championship can have this one way ticket to the other side of fuck off Angry

Pan · 06/05/2012 16:43

Just read 'arry saying his boys "put in a shift" Would that have been the 6-2, 2-10 or 10-6 one then? Or the 12 on 12 off??........or 90 mins of running around with a 15 min rest?

CurrySpice · 06/05/2012 16:46

Well according to the radio they battered AV for 90 minutes...

ElBurroSinNombre · 08/05/2012 13:50

Bye Bye t'Rovers. Don't think you'll be back anytime soon.

Can't believe that the Jack Walker foundation (or whatever it is called, set up to preserve his legacy), actually sold the club to the Venkys. He will be turning in his grave.

Will miss Kean's positive spin - only managed 13 wins in 58 attempts - with a decent squad as well.

So what are we saying about the behaviour of B/burn supporters last night, chucking stuff onto the pitch and boo-ing whilst the game was continuing? A defender was interviewed after the game and he indicated the players knew of the 'atmosphere' in the stands as the game progressed.

Have you ever boo-ed whilst your team was playing? Or even afterwards?
