There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  1. A thought on the season so far (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/(el clasico?)/World Cup bids.

Well done Man U!!
Hope we kept the Mags out of the champions league.

MNHelenisSTILLPansfavourite · 08/04/2012 18:53

Yes Arsenal are a one-man team...from the top, with feeling....SONG

DanFmDorking · 08/04/2012 18:57

As Man City leave the stadium the receptionist says "Goodbye Mr. Mancini".
"Just call me Mancini" he replies.
"Why?" she questions.
"Because I don't have a title" responds Mancini.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/04/2012 20:23

I do like Mancini's blue coat.

BelfastBloke · 08/04/2012 20:31

Sang at the Citeh fans: "You're the Spurs of Manchester..."

Sang at Tevez: "What you doing warming up?"

also,
"Carlos Tevez,
He plays when he wants."

Ha!

Sung too many times this adfternoon...

"They're crackin' up,
they're crackin' up,
Citeh's crackin' up"

repeat.

MNHelenisSTILLPansfavourite · 08/04/2012 20:41

may have missed the "they're crackin'.." line somewhere in there....
Balotelli - the boy has serious problems. Lovely bloke, but not sure a Premiership pitch is where he should be.

BelfastBloke · 09/04/2012 08:09

Pan, not only did most of the stadium do 'The Poznan' while singing '1-0 to the Arsenal', but we also sang the Spurs song
'I wanna be in that number,
when the wheels come off the bus'.

Pan is your bum squeaking after tonight?

Oblomov · 12/04/2012 09:32

Man U losing to Wigan 1-0, you say?
Mancini bye bye? Bye bye Ballotelli and Tevez? What will Mancini do with Dzeko? He doesn't seem to favour him. Dh said a long time ago that he couldn't beleive that Dzeko got a hatrick and was then dropped. Dh says he would love to have Dzeko at Spurs. But as its lookign like we won't even get CL, that seems unlikely. How painful would it be, to lose CL to the Magpies.

MNHelenisSTILLPansfavourite · 12/04/2012 12:33

KDDDD - my bum regularly squeaks! Esp. when we forget how to defend! MU watchers may notice how we drop right back as a defensive unit, (esp in Europe)incl midfielders, and often leave the sort of yawning lines across the 18 yd box that Wigan found so easily. Having said that their first 'goal' should have stood..but then the blatant hand ball was missed, by the official on that side of the pitch.
We are getting such crass decision-making one suspects a conspiracy by officials to heighten the tension - as if it were needed...

It's quite funny seeing Roberto trying his hand at mind games (it's all over!), as if it will make any difference.

Twisty thing it may be, but when it straightens itself out, Spurs may be getting a crack at the Europa League....Hmm

Oblomov · 12/04/2012 13:32

Dh maintains that there are "plenty more twists and turns in this yet".

MNHelenisSTILLPansfavourite · 12/04/2012 13:35

Remember when Pardew took over at Newkie - a local poll had him at 2% approval for the appointment - now that's pretty twisty-turny!
Looking fwd to the management-change carousel - which has to happen once 'Arry swans off to the FA - Jose looking to return to PL and maybe get some better experience before taking over at OT...

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/04/2012 15:07

DH was working late last night and when I told him the Man U result he went white Grin

BelfastBloke · 12/04/2012 18:26

I'm hoping KenDoddsDadsDog's husband is a black man.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/04/2012 19:14

Ha! No he's Irish and as milk bottle pale as they come.

MNHelenisSTILLPansfavourite · 12/04/2012 19:16

So he went some kind of unattractive translucent sort of thing??

KenDoddsDadsDog · 12/04/2012 20:09

Yes and looked worried. And then I told him the Man City result to bestow further torture Grin

Pan · 13/04/2012 18:26

Another twist to go in the twisty thing?
City should beat Norwich - but won't.
Utd should beat AV - and will.
S'land should help themselves to a hatful at wolves - and will?

The most interesting game is reserved for Arses and the Mighty Wigan, and who is going to call that one??

whenskiesaregrey · 13/04/2012 18:26

COME ON YOU BLUES! Just starting our journey on the way to Wembley, come on! Tomorrow will either be one of the worst days or the best days of my life!

Pan · 13/04/2012 18:27

oh yeah that FA Cup thingy!Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/04/2012 18:46

Good luck whenskiesare grey. If you play like you did against us you will do it !

whenskiesaregrey · 13/04/2012 19:33

Which time KDDD? The quarter, or last week? Wink

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/04/2012 19:34

Cheeky Grin

BelfastBloke · 14/04/2012 07:30

I can't get over the fact that every weekend, at least one of the Spanish games kicks off at 10pm. Tonight it's Levante v Barcelona. That means they finish at midnight!

How is Spanish culture set up for that? Does public transport run through the night? Is the siesta widespread throughout spain? Do kids just not go to such late games? Do the drunk fans walk shouting through the streets at 3pm? Are weeknight games ever played that late?
