There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

  1. Which team you support.
  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  1. A thought on the season so far (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/(el clasico?)/World Cup bids.

sad thing is, imo, in the depths of the barrel that is footie punditary, we don't see a shining Prince of the future. None. .

DanFmDorking · 15/03/2012 20:50

Don't worry Man Utd fans
If you quickly turn over to Channel 5+1, you?re still in the Europa League!

thefresheggnoodlePan · 15/03/2012 21:09

Crumbs. A bitter gooner. What a surprise!

thefresheggnoodlePan · 18/03/2012 19:00

Fabrice Muamba

If Mumsnet has 'government trackers' keeping an eye on developments here, then maybe F.A./F.I.F.A. may keep an eye on BB's Rolling Footie Thread...

If so, or if not, then I am sure all footie fans, and posters here, are keen to pass on their very best of wishes and hopes for Fabrice and his young family, and anticipate that he comes out of this episode as best as he can possibly do so.

"St Totteringham's Day is still feasible.." et voila.

shabbapinkfrog · 21/03/2012 23:58

Been a Man City fan for the last 44 years...through bad times and worse Grin Am a bit of an armchair supporter at the moment...rely on my SIL's season ticket and her not being able to go to the match LOL.

.....also live in the Bolton area and hoping Muamba makes a total and full recovery.

BelfastBloke · 22/03/2012 14:56

It's not St Totteringham's Day until it is mathematically impossible for Spurs to finish above Arsenal in the final reckoning.

That means St Totteringham's Day is likely to be the final day of the season, I should think.

Unless Harry continues to work his recent magic ...

MNHelenisPansfavourite · 22/03/2012 20:14

oh I seeee....but by then the bottom three will be:

Spurs
Wolves
Wigan

surely?

BelfastBloke · 22/03/2012 21:42

Nah, he'll do that to England, not to Spurs.

Going back a few comments, Pan; wouldn't you say that Gary Neville is a shining Prince of punditry? Maybe you haven't had a chance to see him very much this season, but lots of people I know are impressed with him.

Ruefully, surprisedly, impressed.

erm..GN..I am afraid as a 'seasoned' GN observer in the last 15 years or so I am prob. too immersed in the 'other GN' - the myopic, ranting, slightly unhinged GN - he is/was a real favourite at OT - epitomised the spirit that carried the day often. So being dispassionate about him is tricky. I know he has a column in some newspaper, and he has obv. worked on presentation skills, but Utd fans will still be thinking 'go on, say what you really feel!'. He is certainly v. intelligent, and astute about off-field stuff (investing in a fans club facing the Scoreboard End/main frontage). And being under SAF's tutelage for so long will have benefitted him massively. Will def. check him out now.

When do we get to shoot Lawro and Hansen?

BelfastBloke · 26/03/2012 07:51

Thank you to Chelsea and Tottenham for drawing on Saturday. Turned out nice again!

BelfastBloke · 27/03/2012 23:00

Trying to work out if Spurs will keep their 4th place. Just can't be sure.

BelfastBloke · 29/03/2012 14:18

How it Tottenham's run-in? I haven't checked.

Arsenal still need to play home games against Man Citeh and Chavski.

We have all the bottom teams to play. Sunderland is the highest placed, we have left. But bottom league teams, is still no guaranteed win for Spurs. who knows what games we will throw away!!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 31/03/2012 07:43

Hey, we are not a bottom team Grin

BelfastBloke · 01/04/2012 07:59

I miss Bendtner. He played brilliantly for Sunderland yesterday.

OP posts:
KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/04/2012 08:36

He did! Great result for us (and Man U!)

MNHelenisPansfavourite · 01/04/2012 09:34

More twisties than a twisty thing made out of twisty stuff.

Thank you KDDDD for all of your hard work yesterday! (is young McLean the find of the season?) I did wonder upthread if Balotteli and Tevez would be Utd's best players - but possibly Mancini is actually playing a blinder for us. So many gaffs and stuff open to misinterpretations, and undermining his own players - and THEN have Viera commence a mind-game war, where there is only going to be one winner. Citeh really didn't need Tevez - has their 'dip' coincided with the return of the prodigal one?
Still, Blackburn can still bite our red bums.
St Totters day has been postponed?

MNHelenisPansfavourite · 01/04/2012 10:27

The other magnificant management master-stroke of Robbie's was to piss the entire squad off by making them remain in Portugal after their Euro game for two days and then travel straight to Swansea for a Sunday game. Lots of reported grumblings and little wonder they were not up for it and so lose another 3 points.

genius.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/04/2012 13:26

McLean is fantastic. DH is a Man U fan so he was very pleased with the result.
Wonder how King Kenny will get on at the discount tracksuit arena today.

MNHelenisPansfavourite · 01/04/2012 13:28

you could still feck it all up for us on the last day! Think it'll be sewn up by then though......

DanFmDorking · 01/04/2012 14:18

What channel was showing the Arsenal match yesterday?
because I checked Comedy Central and they weren?t showing it.

MNHelenisSTILLPansfavourite · 08/04/2012 11:54

Super-douper-easy-peasy Sunday!! Gooners, step up, eh? Where's your pride?
