There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

  1. Which team you support.
  2. Which team(s) you loathe.
  3. How you are getting your kids to follow the correct team.
  1. A thought on the season so far (Premiership/Championship/Champions? League/FA Cup/League Cup/(el clasico?)/World Cup bids.

It was great, got some fond memories. Including being barricaded in The Arkles when it all kicked off between Liverpool and Man U fans outside.

Panfriedstardust · 13/02/2012 21:43

The only footie violence I was involved in was in Stanley Park and all the way back walking to Lime Street after beating them in a Cup reply at Goodison in an evening game. (before I lived in Liverpool and we were getting back to Manchester). Possibly the longest night of my then-short life.Grin

When I went away to Anfield a few years ago (when Arsenal were good), the Gooners were singing, "Where's your famous atmosphere?"

(To the tune of Bread of Heaven/You're Not Singing...)

and of course there was the editing of the Scouse song "In my Liverpool home", which we turned into a very nasty slur. ( In the current circs it would be indelicate to type out the lyrics.) We did enjoy waving fivers (or tenners if you were really flush) at visiting Scousers to O.T. Nothing like stereotypical-based footie banter.

BelfastBloke · 14/02/2012 06:58

It's Tevezday!

Panfriedstardust · 14/02/2012 07:27

oh happy day!
I'd said somewhere up thread, or on one of the Capello threads that Tevez/Balotelli will be the incendiary devices that will implode Citeh, but I didn't realise it would be such a blast so soon. Schadenfreude is usually such an unattractive display, but there are exceptions.....

DanFmDorking · 14/02/2012 23:07

Returning Man City forward Carlos Tevez claimed that Roberto Mancini treated him like a really rich dog during their spat which saw the Argentine flea to his country and play difficult golf courses for four months. The former Man United striker claimed that for all the mansions, the signing on fees and the luxury surroundings provided, being told to ?f*ing warm up? was a step too far.

DaddyTheHouseElf · 15/02/2012 19:38

Come on Henry, score your last goal for Arsenal. You've scored the winner in the FA Cup game, and in the Prem game. Do it in the Champions' League as well.

DaddyTheHouseElf · 15/02/2012 21:44

Not so much, then.

whenskiesaregrey · 15/02/2012 21:57

Tsk not impressed with all these Liverpool students who didn't come to Goodison....

I think someone needs to take KD down a peg or two, he really isn't the king he (or the fans) think he is.

I don't understand how Tevez can now be 'welcomed' back to Citeh after saying he was treated 'like a dog' only days ago on Argentinian T.V.?

Also Spurs fans, what do you think of the rumours that if 'Arry was to go, Moyes is one of the favourites to replace him?

Apparently Mourinho back to Chelsea? Took my son to Everton vs Chelsea at the weekend, his first game Grin

KenDoddsDadsDog · 15/02/2012 22:04

I have never been to Goodison. No idea why as lots of friends are Evertonians. Heard a great baby name the other week - Eva Toni Ann! Dad was a fan!

Panfriedstardust · 15/02/2012 22:06

Went to Goodison once. Got my head kicked in. Not really keen to repeat the experience.Smile

Panfriedstardust · 15/02/2012 22:07

Moyes would be good at Spurs. You can have Mick McCarthy.....

whenskiesaregrey · 15/02/2012 23:15

No thanks! The most depressing man ever.

DanFmDorking · 15/02/2012 23:48

Arsenal remind me of Heather Mills.

The second leg's just for show.

Panfriedstardust · 17/02/2012 22:26

Ok. Bit of a sort of meh week. The Arse being spanked, MU doing just as is necessary ( bit predictable). Citeh doing really well away, and liking Balotelli/MCFC's formal complaint.
And Scholes invitation to the Euros.

DaddyTheHouseElf · 18/02/2012 17:52

Arsenal have lost three defenders to injury in the last three games, including this game going on right now.

Warlock · 18/02/2012 18:03

Forest win 2-0 against Coventry and move out of the bottom 3. Can we survive having sold all our strikers ?????

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/02/2012 19:42

Get in!!!

Panfriedstardust · 18/02/2012 20:14

KDDDD - was thinking about you as the minutes dribbled away to the whistle. Such energy, organisation and most of all, belief. Well done yous!

Arse? Oh dear. It wasn't pretty, was it?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 18/02/2012 21:24

Thank you Pan! We are all chuffed to bits. Makes a welcome change.

DanFmDorking · 18/02/2012 23:09
