Started this as we’ve veered off topic on the AG thread.

I'm in Scotland, the Sandy Drummond case is often reprinted in the press. I found his mother heartbreaking saying what a wonderful son he was, he survived NI in the army and was killed on his own doorstep. Someone in the community must know what happened.

OnaBegonia · 06/02/2022 13:55

@ToffeeNotCoffee
The Mull case is odd in that his body was found in an already well
searched area, in a position walking downhill rather than the expected uphill. Some of these cases would be solved nowadays with the improved forensics.

Such weird disappearances and discoveries, just reminds you how much misery there is out there.

Glynn Rennie went missing from Plymouth in 2014 after occupy Plymouth fell apart, he never liked me but it haunts me not knowing.

Every now and again I think of him, there has been basically no appeals beyond the original I don't know if he died or he just didn't want to be found? What happens if your not actually missing you just don't want to be in contact with your family and want to start a new?

I live in Plymouth and have never heard of him being missing. He looks familiar and on FB we do have a mutual friend so I expect that is why. Just read the articles and havemessaged our mutual friend. He certainly can't have had much publicity when he vanished.

Not a disappearance, but I saw that Levi Bellfield allegedly confessed to the murders of Lin and Megan Russell in Chillenden, Kent. Michael Stone is in prison for this crime, he has always claimed innocence and the case against him seemed shaky.

Not sure how credible this confession is, it's from his solicitor. It doesn't seem like his normal MO which appeared to be young women walking home - not a family of three including young children.

He's not confessed to anything else, as I recall he hasn't admitted his part in any other murder. The press seem quiet about it too. Seems off to me, not sure why.

Not a disappearance but I remember this case from a book I read. So strange. I believe the DNA was the same as that from a robbery at a jeweller in the same area. I also remember a burglar phoning in to Crimewatch and saying it was obviously staged as a burglary as there was so much that a burglar wouldn’t do.

Amy Fitzpatrick an Irish girl living in Spain.
Disappeared in 2008, it's her 30 th birthday today.
And still no sign.

Her brother was killed by his stepfather,and the mother is still with him.

Gloria Bielby went missing from Hull in 1979. She was seen with a suitcase getting into a car with a man so maybe she wanted to disappear without a trace.

The bit that makes it odd are her family are convinced she appeared as an extra in The Professionals 21 months after her disappearance. If she wanted to disappear without trace why would she do that (if it was indeed her as they've never been able to confirm who it actually was)

I worked with the mother of a missing person and she was so dignified and resolute in the searches she and her husband made over many years.
I cannot begin to imagine the agonies that families must go through when this happens.
It must be impossible to stop your imagination running riot, living torture.

LadyEloise1 · 07/02/2022 23:36

@BorderlineHappy
Amy Fitzpatrick who disappeared in Spain.
So so sad.

mixum · 08/02/2022 16:39

For those interested in a podcast with mostly British cases, try "They walk among us". Some fascinating and quite sad and often bizarre cases, and the narrator has such a soothing voice too.

ENoeuf · 08/02/2022 19:46

Thank you that sounds interesting

@mixum, thanks. I'll look into that.

Hippywannabe · 09/02/2022 09:16

My friend of the missing boy from Plymouth thought that he had been hiding in a field when reported missing. However, he then said he hadn't heard from him in years.
I find it so sad that he had so little publicity when Plymouth is such a quiet place normally.

Corrie McKeague had been drinking in a nightclub before he disappeared. There is CCTV of him on that night after he left but I’ve always felt that his disappearance had something to do with an incident at the club or bars that night.

I don't believe he'd willingly climb into a wheelie bin to sleep.
Malibuismysecrethome · 07/03/2022 07:45

^ neither do I, who goes to sleep in a dumpster bin anyway. He wasn’t a down and out he was a serving airman. He was probably thrown in one after a fight. He had a car round the corner to sleep in.

hookiewookie29 · 20/03/2022 23:03

@emwithme I live in Coventry and wonder what happened to her. I know 2 men went to trial regarding her disappearance but were found not guilty and released although many still look each year

Yeahthat · 21/03/2022 07:45

@GhostTypeEevee

Amy Lynn Bradley disappeared off a cruise ship in 1998 and experts believe it's unlikely that she fell overboard. He family believe that she may ah e been smuggled off the ship and sold into sex slavery, there were unverified sighting of her and one man said that when he was in a brothel and women said her name was Amy and begged for help but he didn't report it to anyone.

It must be horrific for her family

Have you seen the photo from 2005? The resemblance is uncanny.
AllAmericanGirl · 29/03/2022 10:10

Has anyone mentioned Jennifer Kesse or Brandon Lawson (not to be confused with Brandon Swanson) yet?

These are two cases that have always fascinated me. I would love to know what happened.

OnaBegonia · 30/03/2022 22:15

Brian Lawson case, they've found remains they expect are his sadly.

wednesday32 · 08/08/2022 12:37

It is so sad to see all of these names mentioned some well known and others not so much. Every missing person deserves recognition in the media. I would recommend listening to the podcast The Missing by Pandora Sykes. So many families waiting for the door to open, in hope their loved one is still alive.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 09/08/2022 13:24

@wednesday32

Pandora Sykes Missing podcast is excellent. Very well told stories, very respectful and her interviews with the relatives of the missing are heart breaking.

BTW re: Cory McKeague I suspect he put his phone in the dumpster purposefully or someone did.......

OnaBegonia · 12/08/2022 00:07

@ToffeeNotCoffee
Was there not a weight discrepancy and CCTV never showed him
leaving the bin area.
