Does anyone else want to join me?
Failing that, has anyone else done it and managed the 50 000 words?

Could they find a black cab abandoned in the middle of the street in front of the hotel, fight their way to it using tinned vegetables and tampax, and then discover no one has a driving licence.
Luckily it's an automatic so they can continue to make it up as they go along....
When they get to BP, the bloke in the armour could be a retired, but completely psychotic taxi driver who still has 'the knowledge'...

Any help?
Hmm

That's brilliant! That's exactly the sort of silliness I was looking for Grin

BustyDeLaGhetto · 05/11/2011 20:06

SouthernandCross Came back to try and help but I also think that is brilliant, and could no way come up with anything better. I think the psychotic taxi driver with 'The Knowledge' adds an almost sinister touch.

ALso like the idea of beathing up a zombie with a severed limb Sephrenia, but tell me, will their be a zombie Queen in residence at the palace ? You could have a grimy union jack fluttering outside in tatters.

SephreniaHasARocketUpHerButt · 05/11/2011 20:18

Ooh, I hadn't thought about that Busty, that's a good touch, I think I'll do that Grin

I was going to have a few MPs running from the Houses of Parliament while being chased by a few overly enthusiastic zombies (my zombies can run, it keeps it interesting Grin ) which I thought would be funny. I'm also contemplating having one of my characters brain David Cameron but I wasn't sure if that was going a little too far. Besides, who can tell the difference between David Cameron and a zombie these days anyway? Wink

CassiePalmer · 05/11/2011 21:37

I've done nothing today, one of those days when I'll say I'll get down to it in half an hour and the half hour just gets longer.
I could totally put some zombies in my novel too, though think I'm going to go with a necromancer instead to liven my group up, there just plodding along on there journey and need a few things thrown at them.
And on a tangent, my DH works in a medical lab, he often tells them he is planning on creating a T-virus out of the rabies virus, the freak. I don't think they trust him to work alone anymore.

BustyDeLaGhetto · 05/11/2011 21:52

Sephrenia Arfity arf arf. You could have one of your characters brain David Cameron only to reveal nothing in his skull, like a joyless hollow easter egg.

CassiePalmer I too have done nothing today as ILs down for weekend - am currently esconsed in the bedroom 'settling DD'. Hoping to catch up next week, although I know that the longer I leave it the more I'll loathe going back to it.
What is a T-virus ? I've only ever heard of it in Resident Evil. Incidentally, isn't a necromancer 'livening things up' an oxymoron ? Literary jokes rule! etc

SephreniaHasARocketUpHerButt · 05/11/2011 22:19

Grin @ Cassie's DH

Busty - y'know, the more you post, the more ideas I have. I may have to stalk you just a little bit Wink

I'm quite proud of myself today. Once Southern came up with that idea, the words just flew out. I've done a grand total of 6192 so far [proud] Grin

SephreniaHasARocketUpHerButt · 05/11/2011 22:20

That's a grand total for today, not all round . All in all, I've done 12,760 Blush

MysteriousHamster · 05/11/2011 23:15

I can feel myself slowing down - it's so annoying. I was writing 2k plus at first per day, but now I'm struggling to do the minimum to keep up the pace. I need to stay ahead so those horrible days when I can't get anything done due to work or whatever don't matter so much.

Today I was slow because I was writing a scene I didn't like, and it took me ages to find a solution to set me in the right direction again. Argh!

:o @ Busty - it is an oxymoron and now I may have to use that line Wink
T-virus is from Resident Evil, the virus that creates the zombies in it, DH just has a dream of making it real. I think he thinks it would be like out the movies and him being left with a sniper or something Hmm. We've also been caught having a major argument one time as he asked what I'd do if he was bitten by a zombie, I said I'd wait til he turned zombie then kill him and he told me he'd kill me straight away as it wouldn't be worth the risk keeping me alive, I got quite angry with him Blush
I managed to write some tonight, glass of wine must have helped me out. I wanted a head start this week as my new job starts on Wednesday and I need to get an assignment written for Thursday, and last year I flagged after the first fortnight and only reached 50,000 in the last couple of days, so I'm glad I've made some headway.

SephreniaHasARocketUpHerButt · 06/11/2011 11:07

Resident Evil is one of my favourite horror movies Grin Strangely, my two male characters are acting like it's a bloody movie. I've got a teenager who sits up late watching horror flicks while his mum is asleep so he's been acting like an expert, while the boyfriend of another character thinks he's fabulous at dealing zombies because he's played both Resident Evil and Alien vs Predator on the X-Box.

Not sterling qualities for survival if you ask me Confused

Heh, I asked my DH what he'd do if I ever got bit by a zombie. He said he'd slap a Hannibal Lector mask on me, tie me up in the basement and toss scraps of meat to me while the kids prodded me with sticks when I'd already promised just to shoot him in the head and not make him suffer. Yeah, he got yelled at for that one Blush

GrendelsMum · 06/11/2011 20:13

Just checking in to say I'm still going okay with my writing, still on target despite a busy weekend - though it's only day 6.

juneybean · 06/11/2011 21:07

I'm so behind, 1,323 words, they reckon I should finish by June 2012 Grin

SouthernandCross · 06/11/2011 21:12

Am up to 11 000 here. Am hoping to reach 12000 by the end of tonight, and finish off chapter 2.
Writing is weird isn't it? The characters keep doing things I didn't know they were going to, and the character I thought I'd not like is my favourite!

Sephrenia, 'I'll take that on board' is a brilliant responseWink

I now have a grand total of 1300 something words after a weekend with my in-laws. This isn't going so well, is itGrin You lot are amazing, though. Keep it upSmile

BustyDeLaGhetto · 07/11/2011 09:27

Just past 10,000 words here, but have friend coming to stay this week and had inlaws over the weekend so will be seriously behind by Friday...its a shame as I feel as though I could write like the FURY now but DD needs my attention and have to make tea. Gah! I so RARELY feel equipped to write and now I feel as though I can, I can't!

SouthernandCross I always think of that as being the sign of writing going well, when the characters dictate to you.

CassiePalmer · 07/11/2011 12:00

Mines going quite well, only a few times I've been left staring at the screen thinking, what next? or this is a pile of shit! The outline I did before I started is out the window though, it's gone in a different direction Confused
I've done just over 13000 words, unfortunately my uni assignment only has 150 words so I'm going to have to crack on with that :(
Helvetica, mines changed point of view a couple of times. I started writing in third person from one characters POV and then for some reason in the middle I have switched to first person before switching back again, and now I've done from two other charcaters POV :o

juneybean · 07/11/2011 13:40

1,770 here, slow going -.-

I'm really interested in the zombie one though! Hope we get to read it when it's done Wink

MysteriousHamster · 07/11/2011 22:59

How is everyone doing today? I am just about to get the bare minimum for the day. I prefer to aim for 2k to get me a bit of a buffer, but some days are harder than others and I really need to do a few other things tonight (bit of work, bit of housework, sort out some eBay stuff). Life kinda gets in the way sometimes!

I'm at 13.5ish k now and it has been going relatively smoothly. However I had quite an in-depth outline until this point and now it gets much vaguer. I suspect the next few weeks will be a bit harder!

I had been planning to do a lot of writing at work at lunchtimes too, but I keep getting invited out on lunch - not normally a problem, but it is in November! :)

How's everyone going?
I feel like I'm treading water a bit atm but am up to 16 134 now. I'm hoping to feel more inspired tomorrow.

OP posts:
GrendelsMum · 09/11/2011 08:32

Going fine, really. I stick to the daily minimum but doing it every day without fail, which is the discipline that I seem to need and which works for me. It's going to get awkward later on this month as I'm going away for a work conference with a group of colleagues, so will just have to get up extra early and lock myself away to write first thing, I think. Worked fine last year with the same conference as I was staying with family rather than a hotel, so they didn't mind me announcing I was going to go to a cafe and write rather than sitting with them (the poor things seemed to think it was quite normal for me). The bit I'm really not looking forward to is NanoEdMo, though. I'm confident I can do NaNoWriMo, but that's going to be a real challenge!

I'm still not sure where the plot is going, but I do now have freak shows, jazz clubs, drunken poets, a morgue and a police canteen. Plus everyone is baffled, no-one knows what the mystery is or how it will be resolved, or even if there's a mystery at all.

CassiePalmer · 12/11/2011 10:40

How many are still going with this?
I started new job last week but managed to get 1000 words done on the night time on the days I was working and got 2500 done last night. Think I can have a few days off not doing much over the weekend as have a million other things that need doing.
