I was looking for the other thread and see it's fallen way down the list so I decided to make a new one for all our daily musings ☘️

I hope today isn't funny Friday on Liveline. I suppose the president will call Joe.
Does Joe want to be president?

I have been wondering that since he announced his retirement. He wouldn't be the worst (and no-one seems to want it).

I’ll miss Joe on Liveline. He was/is a man of the people. It was quite emotional listening to his final show today!

Agree @DeanElderberry . I read a biography of Frank Duff , founder of the Legion of Mary. By Finola Kennedy. He hated the laundries and mother and baby homes. His own refuge for unmarried mothers was run by older women, usually mothers themselves. Actually he was quite left wing , albeit obsessed with the Rosary. But those were the times he was born into.

I just read on my Indo news app this morning about that Clare garda who subjected a female colleague and her 2 daughters to an appalling experience inciting men to visit her home and rape her as he had put her name and details on a website where people invited others to come to their home and rape them.
She found out because a man phoned her to check that she really was consenting.
The Garda was her friend as well as a colleague.
The depravity 😮🥲

Did anyone watch The Phone Box Babies on RTE last night ?
It brought a tear to my eye that’s for sure.

That Garda sounds seriously mentally unwell.Thank god that guy phoned her to check. Otherwise it could have been horrific.

How can that female garda trust anyone after being so betrayed by a colleague she thought was a friend.

Didn't the Legion of Mary homes keep the mothers and babies together?
That was pretty radical! They still run a hostel for homeless women.

Yes they did @MarieDeGournay . And the homes were run by older women - at least the main Dublin one was. The women were able to get employment too. I was surprised by a lot of things in the book. I borrowed it from the library. Must try to dig it out again.
