Gender Critical in Ireland Part 3

VaddaABeetch · 03/04/2023 13:07

I’m watching RTE news. They mentioned the Garda representatives organisation are concerned about Gender Identity in the workplace. It’s been brought in without consultation & without training.

the Garda Commissioner has said that Garda may be disciplined for misgendering.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I think it was Helen Joyce who said recently that the tanker (of transgender ideology/cultural capture) has definitely begun to slow down, but it's going to take years to turn the tanker around.
I do trust that someone like Helen Joyce, working for Sex Matters etc has got her finger on the pulse. So it's a marathon not a sprint. It's a long game but there are some truly encouraging signs.
May the damage done be as minimal and reversible as possible .🙏

Yeah, I read it. It's also very strongly against surrogacy. I think the existence of an organisation which doesn't need to equivocate when putting opinions out is probably a good thing. There's nothing mealy mouthed about it.

Yes @StephanieSuperpowers the report is totally against surrogacy which it views as an assault on both the mother and child. I also like the phrase ' those who choose to be wives and mothers'. A step forward in itself as opposed to it being their default function.
I think Pope Francis would have been a good fit with the Irish Citizens Army , oddly enough.

https://gript.ie/landmark-review-to-say-young-people-presenting-as-trans-may-have-mental-health-problems/

I know some people on here dislike Gript, but I read all sources and they are excellent on the GC stuff.

On the Independent going more GC, there used to be a policy in the Independent group, of following the successful aspects of the Daily Mail (the UK version), so perhaps that element of management have analyzed the success of their GC stance.

I posted this over on FWR, where they have a thread tracking the media coverage of the Cass report.

Sky News 1 o'clock - Cass report 'welcomed' by.. Mermaids and Stonewall!
Interpreted criticism of care for 'trans' children as that there wasn't enough of it/wasn't prompt enough/wasn't respectful enough, not that it was poorly researched and based on flimsy evidence.

RTE TV[Irish state broadcaster] New 1 o'clock - their London correspondent John Kilraine focused on the report's criticism of the use of puberty blockers and hormones for young people, the lack of evidence re long-term effects, and the failure to consider other issues such as autism, mental health issues etc.
I'll see if I can get a link to that segment later.

Did they read the same report?😠

I was really impressed by the RTE1 [TV] One O'Clock news coverage, their London Correspondent John Kilraine had obviously done his homework. Fair play, RTE!

StephanieSuperpowers · 10/04/2024 13:43

About time. About stupid time.

MarieDeGournay · 10/04/2024 13:58

Should Cass have a thread of its own on Craicnet? I considered starting a new one but I've never started a new thread and wasn't sure it was appropriate in this case.. ?

StephanieSuperpowers · 10/04/2024 14:00

Why not? I'm sure there's going to be plenty to talk about in the next few days! This can be a more general thread? The countess conference is coming up, for example. They're related but maybe people need to be able to get to each as they need to...

Well done John Kilraine. There was that Joe Duffy phone in where practically all the callers supported the GC side , a year or so ago? Then RTÉ seemed to shut it all down , perhaps shocked at the listeners response.

So this is a good omen. Maybe an after effect of the resounding No result in the Referendum.

BelongTo are trying the same approach, their statement is at https://www.belongto.org/belong-to-lgbtq-youth-ireland-statement-in-response-to-the-cass-review/, and it and the review were reported at https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/health/irelands-belongto-responds-to-uk-cass-report-we-urgently-need-gender-care-for-young-trans-people/a501606620.html.

The segment is on the player here for the next few days, if anyone wants to share it, it starts at 13:36. The news report is here.

StephanieSuperpowers · 10/04/2024 15:45

The intro though, using the same completely captured language.

RosesInWater · 10/04/2024 20:49

I'd rather McDowell did NOT go for President. He would be totally muzzled in that role and we need him to speak out as he has been, so successfully recently.

He is the only counterpoint I can think of who is challenging the prevailing views on so called progressive issues.

VoteNONO · 10/04/2024 21:46

@RosesInWater you are absolutely right. He is playing a blinder at the moment & thank God the general public are listening & taking him seriously.

I think because he seems to be one of the only voices of reason in a sea of political nonsense.

Iloveshihtzus · 11/04/2024 11:40

I’m shocked (not) that no government TD or minister has commented on the Cass report, especially since the HSE are sending children for treatment in the discredited Tavistock, and also since an Irishman is at the centre of its ideology (Dr(🙄) Aiden Kelly)

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 11/04/2024 13:18

I see Aidan Kelly's PhD is in psychology, which if James Davies is to be believed (I believe) is about as valid and Angelology. Very entertaining, but not something to be applied to real human beings.

Surely if they took the findings of the Cass report & put it on place over here it would save the HSE millions on their own "independent research".. But then again that would involve common sense..

StephanieSuperpowers · 11/04/2024 13:38

And it would be now, instead of 20 years down the line.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/04/2024 15:47

Tavistock is closed now so at least no more Irish children can be sent there. Lets just hope a similar clinic isn't opened in our own jurisdiction.

StephanieSuperpowers · 11/04/2024 15:57

I mean, that doesn't make you look like a great organisation. It looks spineless and like you can't cope with a changing environment.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/04/2024 16:00

This is exactly what Helen Joyce has talked about - that adults who have been supportive of the medicalisation of children (their own, or children in their care) will be even more difficult to sway than most people because if they have to admit to changing their opinion they in turn have to admit that they've played a part in the harming of those children. So they double-down and insist that gender-affirming care and medicalisation is the right thing to do. What a mess.

this is a really good article about the demise of Tavistock

Why the Tavistock gender identity clinic was forced to shut ... and what happens next

The clinic at the heart of a heated national debate formally closes this weekend. The journalist who told the inside story of its practice reflects on those it leaves behind

VoteNONO · 11/04/2024 16:06

@LifeInAHamsterWheel can they be criminally charged down the line for medical abuse or similar charges for what the irreversible damage they did to these children?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/04/2024 16:11

Parents/teachers/social workers - no, I doubt it. But medical professionals maybe? Big pharma definitely. But it will take a while to filter through. I'd imagine we'll see lots of 'group actions' being taken in the US and only when it hits the bottom lines of these big pharma companies will we see any real halt to it. I see in that article that private clinics are now sprouting up and they'll have no problem with prescribing blockers and cross sex hormones - for a fee of course.

I really want to see TENI and BeLoNGTo gone from our schools for good. My kids (secondary) school are so captured it's shocking.

VoteNONO · 11/04/2024 16:20

That's so scary. Is it really bad? My kids are still in primary school & we havn't come accross it yet. I'm dreading secondary school. I wonder if homeschooling has risen in Ireland much due to the increasing presence of TENI & belong to I schools?
I hate the way they are linking themselves to autism organisations such as Asiam, they are literally preying on the vulnerable.

I really hope some of the medical organisations pushing this face legal action at some point. Ideally some de-transitioners would get together and launch a class action suit.
I would say they could legitimately claim that they couldn't properly consent because of their age, and also because they were lied to about the results.
