Six weeks and three days until Christmas break. Grin

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 07/11/2021 18:42

You'd easy know you work in childcare @Iblinkedandiamold Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 07/11/2021 19:26

😂😂 I'm just so tired. I dunno why. I think I might have to look at my diet. I'm sure chocolate and crisps are not helping.

Éamon Ryan: jeez, it's a long way to Glasgow on a bicycle Grin

Éamon Ryan: jeez, it's a long way to Glasgow on a bicycle Grin
He's a hypocrite considering he's been driving a 2.5l diesel van until last year after he was called out on it.

He's made a mockery out of the HSE PCR testing, tested positive yesterday then went and got a private test and 24 hours later tested negative. Once you test positive you're not offered another PCR test for around 9 months as you may have some of the virus in your system. Very suspicious why he'd go for a private test straight after having a positive test.

halfpasteleven · 07/11/2021 22:11

If he goes to Glasgow after this it won't bode well for him. He has to explain this fully.
Why wasn't a positive result good enough for him like it would be for the rest of us plebs?

Yes! Whoever heard of retesting?!
LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/11/2021 14:55

It makes a mockery of the whole thing really doesn't it?

Two kids in my DDs class have tested positive. One is feeling absolutely fine but another is feeling unwell (like a very heavy cold apparently) My DD sits in same group as one of them but they all play together at breaktimes and when doing PE or other group stuff. I'm watching her like a hawk now and hoping that she doesn't start showing any symptoms!

shrugitoff · 08/11/2021 16:19

@LifeInAHamsterWheel Could your daughter be asymptomatic and pass it to other family members ?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 08/11/2021 16:51

Possibly, but then we could all be asymptomatic couldn't we? and "the rules" now say that you only test if you're symptomatic. Everyone else at home is fully vaccinated so I'm not worried about us getting it. Not meaning to sound flippant but at this stage I think we're ok. DH had it (even though he is fully vaxxed) and none of the rest of us got it (despite being tested) I think it's so odd how some people get it and others don't. Anyway for now I'm just keeping a close eye on her, which is what the school have told us to do.

honeyrider · 08/11/2021 20:38

It's so scary how some people despite being fully vaccinated can really suffer if they contract covid. My very fit and healthy vaccinated 23 year old son was very bad when he contracted covid yet his unvaccinated housemate contracted it from my son and didn't develop any symptoms. In my area 1 in every 15 people have tested positive in the last 2 weeks.

Keep testing until you get the result you want, just like in the referendums keep voting until they get the result they want.
Radyward · 08/11/2021 21:21

No headline in any of the broad sheets today regarding eamon ryans utter hypocrisy and double standards
All the people and familes who have sacrificed 2 weeks isolating at home,as i read today some miissing family funerals and the like to hear about this is just such a betrayal. I mean its a disgrace. Had to laugh at a comment on twitter about him sitting beside Obama in Glasgow. The cost of fuel is exorbitant. Filled up today and the man in the garage said sales are quiet. People are staying at home more. Its so unpopular to the ordinary joe soap and china spitting out mountains of coal clouds fgs !! No issue there it seems - unchallenged.
The pcr and nphet are an absolute joke

halfpasteleven · 09/11/2021 03:29

@honeyrider it would appear you are spot on.

sillysmiles · 09/11/2021 14:37

Does anyone else think that Ireland is going to be a voluntary sacrificial lamb for climate change? That we'll adopt laws/practices that look good to outsiders but have a massive negative impact on normal people's lives - especially those in rural areas but in reality will have negligible impact on global climate change?
Or am I just sceptical?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/11/2021 16:14

We'll we're doing it for the whole trans/self ID issue so yes, we'll probably do it for climate change too...

shrugitoff · 09/11/2021 16:16

I've just seen Sean Fitzpatrick of Anglo Irish infamy has died.
Rereading the debacle after the 2008 crash and his arrogance has made my blood pressure soar.
The collapse of Anglo Irish along with Irish Nationwide cost the taxpayer circa €36 billion pounds of tax payers hard earned money.
In an interview with Marian Finucane he declined to apologise to the taxpayers but did say thank you.
My blood is boilingAngry

Iblinkedandiamold · 09/11/2021 18:29

Can I start saying "Fuck it, it's Christmas" while eating a whole tub of Roses yet?

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/11/2021 18:45

I've already eaten the box of cherry liqueurs I had stashed away for myself Blush

Iblinkedandiamold · 09/11/2021 19:03

@LifeInAHamsterWheel tubs of sweets are 4 quid in Tesco. I bought 2 of them. Shock

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/11/2021 19:58

Oh god it's too much too soon isn't it 😩 I have zero willpower, I wish to god the stuff didn't appear in shops until December!!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/11/2021 15:06

How is everyone doing? This thread is filling up, so much for 'the exit' we'll need to call the next one 'the u-turn' Hmm Grin

I wish we just had one office doing the communications, instead of the very public ping-pong between NPHET and the government. Are we supposed to work from home or not?? And how can schools actually be low bases of transmission?? Reading an article earlier, Professor McConkey saying that people should be doing 2-3 antigen tests per week and that the price of them should be brought down to €3 - what world is he living in?! We're a family of 4, with no financial struggles thank God, and yet I'd still feel it if we had to shell out €24 a week on antigen tests for the next 6 months! They should be free, surely?

sillysmiles · 15/11/2021 15:10

@LifeInAHamsterWheel ... I agree. I just listened to the Nolan podcast over the weekend.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/11/2021 15:18

Re 'the exit'... It seems to be a revolving door!!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 15/11/2021 15:29

That's the perfect title @IsFuzzyBeagMise!

What podcast is that @sillysmiles? I still haven't got round to listening to his Stonewall one, that's next on my list.
