Everyone is out and about all gathering in the same shops, DIY stores and those euro giant/dealz type of stores are always full or have a large queue.

Apileofballyhoo · 31/03/2021 00:05

I'm really fed up too. Thinking about the grave visit again!

Mayzee · 31/03/2021 00:11

So fed up too. I knew this announcement wouldn’t ease much as the focus is on schools but it’s pretty much carry on with the misery for another month or two. Being allowed to travel around my county doesn’t mean much as there isn’t much to do in mine. At least the checkpoints will be gone I suppose Confused
I really feel for those of you away from your parents or other close family as it’s tough going so long without seeing them, especially when you have babies that are literally growing and changing before your eyesFlowers

Apileofballyhoo · 31/03/2021 00:29

My family is scattered across the country. The county thing feels like a knife in the wound in a way. It's no use to me at all.

Dunnesstores · 31/03/2021 07:52

In' terms of people county travel won't make a huge difference to us but for walks on the beach it will. It'll also mean we can travel to a larger town without fear of been turned back.

turkeyboots · 31/03/2021 09:15

I still can't see DM, but I can now go for a walk somewhere else and the DC will all be back at school. I can live with that for now.
But had a booking at the Europe in Kilarney for my birthday in May and looks like that has gone.

Thoughts and prayers to those who live in less exciting counties

Emeraldshamrock · 31/03/2021 09:27

@Apileofballyhoo You might have to visit a relatives grave in another county. Wink
@turkeyboots I think you will get the opportunity in May.
Although I didn't agree with the Dublin protests the Cork protest was peaceful I'd bet people are going to kick off.
I've been out of work a year bar the few lifts in restrictions even then they needed less staff on the shifts.

That made me smile. I'm lucky enough that my parents are within my 5k and now that I'm on Hoildays and three days have passed I can see them again. We also have a few lovely walks within my county.
HaHaVeryBunny · 31/03/2021 09:58

Ugh, l'm feeling everyones pain here too after the Taoiseachs announcement.

It reminds of that meme l see everywhere with his face "I expecting nothing, yet somehow l'm still disappointed."

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/03/2021 10:08

I was talking to my GP this morning. He thinks we are on the last quarter of this 'journey'. Hang in there, folks Flowers

Apileofballyhoo · 31/03/2021 10:17

Ah fuzzy thanks so much for sharing that. Needed to hear something positive!

Emeraldshamrock · 31/03/2021 10:26

@IsFuzzyBeagMise That's positive. I was envious of the UK. We can manage a few more weeks. 💪

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/03/2021 10:37

Yes, same! Worth paying the 60e for that bit of optimism Grin (and he was very nice to ds too).

eggandonion · 31/03/2021 10:50

I want a nice GP. I hate all of ours, for assorted reasons. It's a nice day today, I am going to three shops. Within one kilometre.
I am so fed up cooking, I'd happily live on chocolate and crisps.

HaHaVeryBunny · 31/03/2021 11:04

Just a heads up, ice-cream has become a big part of my life during lockdown Grin and Aldi do an even nicer (same sized) version of Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough ice-cream for €2.45 compared to €6.25 in Tesco.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 31/03/2021 11:14

Yes @HaHaVeryBunny my DD and DH are icecream connoisseurs and both have given the thumbs up to that Aldi icecream Grin and the Lidl version is also highly rated!

Thanks for the words of optimism @IsFuzzyBeagMise it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel these days.

tazzy73 · 31/03/2021 11:19

I was talking to my cousin last night. He's a prison warden in one of the busier prisons in Dublin. Not one of his colleagues or himself even getting a sniff of a vaccine.
I feel this is wrong on so many levels, as I know prisons and some bodily fluids go hand in hand. And my biggest concern would be spitting.

Becoming a vaccinator is extremely hard, people having to jump through hoops. There was a doctor on the radio last week attempting to go vaccinate. They were looking for his Jr. Cert....
Anyone who gets 10 minutes training could vaccinate. There just needs to be medically trained staff there to monitor for reactions. In my workplace (hospital), we got vaccinated and then waited for 15 minutes under minimal supervision. The majority of adverse reactions will take place in that 15 minutes.

Hopefully we are coming to some sort of normality. Yesterday's gorgeous day seems to have vanished.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/03/2021 11:22

No worries, Life, it cheered me up, so I thought it was worth passing on.

Thanks for the ice-cream tips. Must go see what they have in Lidl. (Hope I can reach it!)

3timeslucky · 31/03/2021 11:34

@LadyEloise

I'm sure the guards in Dundrum could have done with the vaccines too. But the most obvious deserving cases are the likes of Aoife Stokes' mother and Anna Daly's ( TV3 anchor ) father who are both cancer patients receiving treatment at the Beacon. Instead the vaccines goto teachers in another county.

You couldn't make it up.

Yeah, it is a hospital with Category 4 patients. There was no need to even look outside the hospital.

(And then there was Categories 5, 6, 7 ...)

There are no excuses. I don't think anyone has offered any plausible excuses. It is clear what it was.

I see other teachers in Gerard's are pissed off (rightly) that they've been tarred by the controversy too.

And then there's the big question ... 2nd jabs where????

Iblinkedandiamold · 31/03/2021 11:46

That's good news @IsFuzzyBeagMise.
I'm having a major first world problem here, cupboards and fridge full of food but I have nothing to eat.

3timeslucky · 31/03/2021 11:47

@HaHaVeryBunny

Ugh, l'm feeling everyones pain here too after the Taoiseachs announcement.

It reminds of that meme l see everywhere with his face "I expecting nothing, yet somehow l'm still disappointed."

That is it. I had no expectations but still pissed off. Or maybe I had a hope which is even worse than an expectation about the garden. Having coffee with a friend or parent is way safer in my garden than having it in the local park. And if one of my children had a friend in the garden I can keep an eye but if they go for a walk like they're allowed I've no idea what is happening. Sigh.
Joolsin · 31/03/2021 11:54

I see other teachers in Gerard's are pissed off (rightly) that they've been tarred by the controversy too.

Yes, @3timeslucky another 80 staff in the school, who only discovered certain favoured colleagues had the jab when the news broke ... imagine the atmosphere in that staffroom going forward, there'll be serious fractures between the haves and the have nots.

FinallyFluid · 31/03/2021 12:04

St Gerard's hung the bacon out to dry yesterday, they repeatedly said that they were told that it was being offered with the knowledge of the HSE.

And now the CEO of the VHI .Angry

Iblinkedandiamold · 31/03/2021 12:24

Yes I heard teachers were getting text messages about it. I dont know what type of messages but they are annoyed because they didnt know about it.
