Ok

So if you were returning from Australia, and you stopped over in Dubai albeit for 45 minutes, would you not just do your quarantine and get on with it.

I know staying in a hotel room for 2 weeks won't be much fun, especially with kids, but hasn't she seen an airport hotel before? Their room looks like it is a standard size, and I am not sure they have suites at the airport, which it sounds like she was expecting they'd get. They are daily-mail-sad-facing all over my FB feed.

HaHaVeryBunny · 28/03/2021 08:22

Have just seen reported in The Sunday Times that the British are planning to offer Ireland 3.5 million doses...

@NewjobOldme

When I was in college a friend of mine had a part time job playing piano in Hayfield Manor, when it wasn't long open. She invited us to come for a drink in the bar and to hear her play. I've never felt further outside my comfort zone in my life! To be fair although we were clearly a bunch of penniless students the staff treated us very well.
We used to go in there for a drink at night sometimes when the Boole threw us out at 10, and no one said ‘Begone, student filth!’ (90s, we all looked kind of like the Hothouse flowers — lots of paisley shirts...)

Mind you, we stayed there once years later, and toddler DS smashed a mirror in our room with the golf thing they have in the rooms for some reason (club, golfball and a little thing you aim for)... We’re still in the 7 years bad luck.

IwishIwasontheN17 · 28/03/2021 08:36

I have a dream list of hotels I’m going to stay in when all of this is over. My introvert self has taken a battering being locked up with two babies and albeit lovely DH 24/7/365.
Adare Manor
Hayfield Manor
Monart
Inchadoney

Mayzee · 28/03/2021 08:43

Ooh @IwishIwasontheN17 that would be my list too. I’ve only been to Monart but would love to go back.
I remember always longing to go to Hayfield when I was on Magicmum 100 years ago as it seemed to be a favourite of loads of posters there:)
And Adare 😍

Barmbraic · 28/03/2021 09:12

I had a day, all by myself, booked for monart this time last year....Sad Hayfield is amazing, definitely going there when all this madness ends. Or Ashford Castle. I've never been, but since we've two years' of holiday budget I might blow it all on a weekend there??

Carriemac · 28/03/2021 09:21

I got engaged in Adare ! Staff were fabulous and planned the whole thing with DH .
Innchydonney, being family run , is also lovely .
I found the Monart staff a bit offhand .

Radyward · 28/03/2021 09:32

Looks like boris will save our bacon giving extra doses to ROI as NI cant lift restrictions too quickly due to the sh#@%t show down here ran by nphet and co.i for one will be v grateful if uk does this.
Endless LD with no end is soul destroying. Anyone notice less guards checking now as the govt. Know people are at their wits end.

M0rT · 28/03/2021 09:41

I highly recommend adding Farnham to the spa lift. Outside pool is fab and the staff are lovely!

M0rT · 28/03/2021 09:41

*list

@Radyward yep, credit where it's due the British vaccine roll out has been top class. It's reported in the Sunday Times (no point in linking as it paywalled) that the British are on track to have over 100 million extra doses, so it would make sense to them for an all Ireland approach to covid to prevent a 3rd wave in Northern Ireland and also give 2 fingers to the EU, so definitely not an act of total benevolence and as @IsFuzzyBeagMise said, we'll see!

I want a massage and a spa day. My shoulders are aching. Spa days are something I only recently got into it.

Ahh, a Spa day, l see this bandied about mumsnet a lot, as a reply to "my husband has run off with my best friend, what do l next?" type questions but you're absolutely right they are great. I had a seaweed bath in Galway and it was glorious. I get a seaweed block in the health shop and use it at home, it fills the bath, is the closest l'm gonna get to a beach holiday anytime soon and soooo relaxing.

NewjobOldme · 28/03/2021 10:52

Now we know why we are in a pandemic! A broken Hayfield mirror. Grin

Ohhh snap!

Add Ballyfin House to the list, if you're planning on blowing a 2-year holiday budget in one go... Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 28/03/2021 10:54

@HaHaVeryBunny before I went on one ,Spa days were my idea of hell but then I realised I had misjudged them and they are fantastic.
I had a sea weed bath in Sligo. I wasnt a fan. I dont like baths anyway, find the boring and hot.
My skin and hair felt glorious afterwards though.

Thoughts and prayers @Barmbraic. I was supposed to have been at Adare this week last year for a night alone. It had been a shitshow couple of months to that point. I had booked it for a full night sleep. Didn’t happen Sad
IwishIwasontheN17 · 28/03/2021 11:02

Ohh good idea @MarDhea. I’ll stick it on my ‘dream spa shared photo folder’ that I share with DH lest he ever be stuck for birthday ideas

Iblinkedandiamold · 28/03/2021 11:20

It's so horrible today but I need to go out today I spent the whole day yesterday indoors but I cant do it again today. I'll go crazy. Especially as I'm watching Greys and I'm on the new series. It's awful depressing. Oh god they've just put a list of everyone that died in America at the end of it.
I am so lucky I live in Ireland. I dont know anyone who has passed from the virus. My parents are well thank goodness. I'm in tears now watching it. Crying is good for the soul though. Grin

eggandonion · 28/03/2021 11:29

I only know of people who have died from covid, parents of friends. And sadly some others who died during the past few months, which has been equally difficult for families and friends.
I think we should have put the clocks back and had an extra hour in bed, it looks like November again today.

LadyEloise · 28/03/2021 11:34

Any word on the absconders ?
Had they pre paid ?
Did the government not look into how it was done in other countries- what country did it successfully and what was their modus operandi ?
And follow suit.

The vaccine roll out is a disgrace.
A 98 year old still not vaccinated !!!

What's the point of demanding the CEO of the Beacon resigns.
He owns 20% of it anyway apparently.

It's like almost everything else controversial that happens in this country.
Big news for a day or two, then no real consequences.
It was ever thus.

Daydreaming of escape to another county for a staycation.

Mayzee · 28/03/2021 11:42

I’ve booked 2 Airbnb stays for July and august to give me and the kids something to look forward to. Praying they happen obviously.
But the second hotels are announced as opening I’m booking the most luxurious spa stay I can afford, all alone 😆
