Unlinked because I can't remember how to do it, and can't find Help thing.

Deirdre had a blonde Mary Robinson quality about her

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 24/02/2021 21:15

DH has just been ranting for the last half hour about his DF (late 70s but very fit & healthy) saying he doesn't want the vaccine. I can see both sides of the argument to be honest. DH is saying that the family should rally round and tell him they won't see him until he gets it. It occurred to me that there's been no information campaign on this at all! No flyers in the door, no ads on the TV or radio etc no public service announcement about it. I'd say a lot of people share DFIL concerns. Surely the government should be allaying those fears and trying to inform people so they can feel safe in getting the vaccine?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 24/02/2021 21:16

Same here Life. I've lost all sense of time too.
If you told me it was going to be Easter next week, I'd believe you!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 24/02/2021 21:17

Lol at Deirdre channelling Mary Robinson! But now you've said it, yes I can see it!

@JollyGreenGiantess as I said on the other thread, in an ideal world I'd leave DH and the kids to fend for themselves and live out my days alone in that gorgeous cottage Smile

Iblinkedandiamold · 24/02/2021 21:50

Hmm, I'm watching the vanishing at the Cecil hotel. So far I have more questions than answers which is good because I've just eaten chocolate and I'll be awake tonight, plenty of time to wonder about what happened at the hotel. Grin

halfpasteleven · 24/02/2021 22:13

I've heard it's meant to be good.. would you recommend it ?

SionnachRua · 24/02/2021 22:15

Not to dampen your enthusiasm but God I hated that show. Having watched a bit I can see why the family wanted nothing to do with it, it's all wannabe Youtube stars frothing at the mouth to talk conspiracy theories.

Reminded me a lot of the Behind the Curve documentary if anyone's seen that? Except that one was well made. I think it's still on Netflix if anyone is at a loose end.

SionnachRua · 24/02/2021 22:20

@halfpasteleven

At one point one of the web sleuths said for him, her death was "like losing a sister". Same lad sent a friend out to video him fondling her tombstone...Really weird people cast for this, if you ask me.

Now, they did turn things around in the final episode apparently - won't say how in case people want to avoid spoilers - but "Don't fuck with cats" is good if you want something like the Cecil doc. But better. Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 24/02/2021 22:26

It's like a badly cast crime story, if it wasn't real you'd think it was a mockumentary even the hotel manager was a bit strange. I just want to know what happened. It's a bit dragged out but I guess they are trying to build a story.
The YouTubers are crazy alright.

SionnachRua · 24/02/2021 22:35

I did hear they tie it together well in the finale but I could never get to that point. It was the bit when they went on the roof that turned me off in the end Grin

Speaking of documentaries, did anyone watch Hail Satan on Netflix? I saw that last weekend and thought it was great. Maybe not one to watch if you're very religious but they raise a lot of good points.

Iblinkedandiamold · 24/02/2021 22:42

One to add to the list.

halfpasteleven · 25/02/2021 06:02

Hmmm so not as good as I thought it might be, thanks for that.

I don't usually watch a lot of those types of documentaries - Knowing DD will wake in the night has me in bed early most nights!

Iblinkedandiamold · 25/02/2021 09:53

The ending was a let down. I feel terrible saying that as a young girl lost her life, but I have no idea why they bothered making a documentary about it in the way they did. That poor girl and her family.

Iblinkedandiamold · 25/02/2021 11:31

Back to normality on Monday, how am I going to drag myself out of bed at 6.30am. Will miss my slow mornings.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 25/02/2021 11:37

Hopefully the mornings will be lovely and bright like this morning @Iblinkedandiamold all of this will be easier to cope with when we feel Spring in the air!

Iblinkedandiamold · 25/02/2021 13:12

The evenings are also brighter @LifeInAHamsterWheel I'll be finishing at 5 so it'll still be hright going home.

eggandonion · 25/02/2021 14:12

That's a long day. Are you getting a good Easter break?
It's a lovely day here, after Tuesday's grim weather.

Sunlight makes such a difference doesn't it?! Hoping for a good stretch of it now, not just a day or two and then back to wind and rain!

eggandonion · 25/02/2021 14:30

Its raining now, hopefully not for long!

Iblinkedandiamold · 25/02/2021 18:40

Two weeks Easter break. We go by the school calendar.

eggandonion · 25/02/2021 21:28

Is it four weeks until Easter break? I really hope they are making the right decisions.

OP posts:
halfpasteleven · 25/02/2021 21:55

@eggandonion yes.. basically the first four weeks of March until the Friday 26th and then holidays for two weeks..
I hope so too.. a new variant announced tonight..

eggandonion · 25/02/2021 22:18

And a little st Patrick's day break. In normal circumstances that would be a nice month!

OP posts:
Iblinkedandiamold · 25/02/2021 22:41

Another new variant? I dont watch, listen or look up news unless I really need to like with schools open. Does the vaccine work with this new strain?
Maybe I should invest in some sort of hazmat suit for work.

halfpasteleven · 25/02/2021 23:26

Tbh @Iblinkedandiamold they didn't say too much about it.. just one case of it. It was on the journal.ie that I read about it.
