Yay, I got an egg chair and I didnt have to queue. I got if on line only 20 quid more than Aldi but it'll be delivered to me.

7Days · 04/06/2020 13:56

No Earlofeggmuffin just a generic phrase that disappears more easily into google

7Days · 04/06/2020 13:57

And I meant Brendan O Connor in the story above - sorry

eggandonion · 05/06/2020 13:41

I want the new rules to work!

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/06/2020 14:08

What are the new rules? I see that instead of just 20k we can now travel anywhere within out county.
I was joking with friends that I'll have to drive further to tesco and Aldi as the one closer to me are in a different county. It's 15min to my nearest one and 30mins to the one in my own co. Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/06/2020 14:28

Leo making announcement soon. I didnt know, my sister texted me.

eggandonion · 05/06/2020 14:29

You will be able to go anywhere in your county, plus 20 km into the next one. I live in Cork, so that's nice (I have no plans to go anywhere). Various shops can open, but it's complicated for places which open into shopping centres.
Hotels and bandb will start to reopen early July and all Ireland travel too (not sure if we can go to NI).
Playgrounds are reopening, summercamps and training may be allowed to run.
Not sure what NPhet think!

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 05/06/2020 14:37

Oh thanks for this- just logged on to MN while eating lunch at my desk.
Great to see things moving ahead- so many people need to get back to work.

eggandonion · 05/06/2020 15:08

I think I have forgotten how to go to work! I haven't been told what we are doing yet.

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/06/2020 15:17

Me too eggandonion. Having to get up at 6.30am will kill me.
I still dont know what we are doing, I am a sessional service, we close during school holidays. I am assuming we wont be opening until Sept but my boss cant say for sure. Waiting to hear from the DCYA. They like email people at strange times on Fridays so not expecting to hear anything soon.
I would love clarification on everything even reopening in September and if I'll have my full hours of not.

7Days · 05/06/2020 17:01

It was another good speech. I hope people dont lose the run of themselves.
Hope I'm not one of them myself

3luckystars · 05/06/2020 17:16

This is like the Life of Brian, what did he say we can travel anywhere within out county and 20kms into the next county?

We are still too far from Dublin for them to come here then.

eggandonion · 05/06/2020 17:38

Virgin news seem to say your own county or 20 km whichever is further. I might see my kids early July, the one who is here might be able to have a trip to Dublin to stay a few nights in her house share.

chartreuse · 05/06/2020 17:39

I think the 20km outside your county was the media speculating. I think the new rule is either within your county or 20km from home whichever is further which I suppose gives people who live near a county border a bit of flexibility.

To be honest I don't think there will be nearly as many checkpoints now

eggandonion · 05/06/2020 18:00

It's about three hours from where I live to castletownbere, I wonder if the chipper is open! But it is nice to have parks and beaches accessible.

Lipz · 05/06/2020 18:01

Does anyone know what needs to be done, if anything to extend the covid19 payment? It's definitely extended till August?

Also dh is on immune lowering meds, he's been advised by doctors and arthritis Ireland not to return to work as he travels 2 hours one way on 2 public transport buses, his job is returning Monday..... Will he need to get letters for him not returning?

3luckystars · 05/06/2020 22:51

Has he been working from home?
Can you email your doctor and they will give you a letter for his employer saying he needs to continue working from home.

LadyEloise · 06/06/2020 00:08

Did anyone see Leo being interviewed by Pat Kenny on Virgin Media 1 ?

7Days · 06/06/2020 00:17

No when was that LadyEloise

halfpasteleven · 06/06/2020 00:21

It was on at 9 pm Friday night I think.. didn't see much of it myself.

Lipz · 06/06/2020 02:56

@3luckystars

Has he been working from home? Can you email your doctor and they will give you a letter for his employer saying he needs to continue working from home.
No, he works dealing with the public. His job entails crowd control. He would be dealing with the public. I'll email the gp and see what they say. Thanks for your reply.
Iblinkedandiamold · 06/06/2020 10:29

The downside of this virus is my friend asked me to help her throw turf into her shed yesterday. I had no excuse to give her. Still it was actually nice spending the day with a friend, although I couldn't go into her house or have a cuppa with her. It almost felt like old times.

eggandonion · 06/06/2020 10:41

There might be new aspects to the job he could cover, but I'd be more concerned about the travel on public transport. I don't know how that will work in September for anyone.

3luckystars · 06/06/2020 12:38

Well it might be gone in September, I'm still hoping for a miracle.

eggandonion · 06/06/2020 13:21

Aren't we all!
