Good evening all.
£65 at Sainsburys, Mum kindly gave me £20, towards store cupboard supplies for the coming bad weather. We have been snowed up before now.
jiggered today, doing some Autumn cleaning, deep cleaned bathroom and loo and did some tidying. Mr Gingercats hoovered and Mum dusted and polished.
Puss did the looking on, @RumBananaSundae . I knew a lovely ginger cat called Moses when I was younger, and always promised myself two, but a big black cat came instead. The cat chooses us, rather like the wand choosing the wizard. 🐈
Glad Mum is ok @DirtyGertiefromno30 . Mine has found and consumed several Club biscuits which I was saving for half term. when I remonstrated, she was quite unrepentant and said she needed sustenance after all that cleaning.
I have made a large pot of tea, and put up two flasks for the morning which helps get us out of bed. 🫖

SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs · 25/10/2026 05:52

So which idiot turned up at an airport an hour early (on top of my usual massively earlier than I need to be anyway) to pick a friend up. Wish they would stop this clock changing thing 😆.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 25/10/2026 07:49

Good morning everyone 🌞
Sunny here unbelievably and blowing a gale so my washing is going out 😁.
Off to Home Bargains, Tesco and Asda this morning. Got to get a few bits and going early because DH wants to watch yes you guessed it , a football match this afternoon 🤣. Obsessed or what 🙄.
Hope you are all dry this morning and the rain/wind/storm Boelo has stopped. Have a lovely day everyone 🤗.

You’ve been busy @Twogingercats! No wonder you’re jiggered, that’s a lot of cleaning! Your Mum made me laugh with the Club biscuits, she obviously thought she deserved a little treat after all that hard work aw bless her 🤣❤️ !
Thank you Re my Mum, it's my sister's day today ❤️
I love what you said about cats choosing us, every single one of our 6 cats have been strays and turned up on the doorstep ❤️🤗. The flasks ready for the morning are a brilliant idea and l am thinking about getting a flask today to do exactly the same , also sometimes l can't sleep and get up to make a cuppa and this will stop me having to do that . Great idea thank you so much for telling us that 👏👏👏🤗.
@SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs
Oh no that was such bad luck you poor thing and you were only doing your friend a good deed . You know the saying ' no good deed comes unpunished ' 🙄. Nevermind at least you helped your friend out and you will never forget to put the clocks back again 😁.

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Back from shopping, cleaned the 2 fridge freezers before l went and put it all away . Dried 2 loads on the line and put away , just put third load on the line 🤞😁. Spends were £62 in Home Bargains, of which l had loads of chicken, fruit and veg reduced, honestly you go on a Sunday morning and it's really good in there for yellow stickers .
Put a chicken curry in the slo cooker before we went so tea is sorted. @Twogingercats bought a flask told my DH he said it was a brilliant idea so we are doing that every night now, so thank you sweetheart 😁.
Spent £8 in Asda on the flask and £16 in Farmfoods , bought Pringles for £1.25 for Christmas in there and a lovely large green Mistletoe Yankee candle for £8.99 (not the Home Inspiration the other one that more expensive) . Mum was fine there thankfully 😊 🤞🙏👏.
Hope everyone is ok and having a good day ❤️

I wish you and Mr Gertie joy of the flask @DirtyGertiefromno30 ! It’s so easy when you make a drink in the evening, to do the flask ready to take upstairs. Im the morning, after a quick scrub, it can be filled again if you are going out, and then you have a hot drink to take with you and need not buy one out. 🫖

RumBananaSundae · 25/10/2026 16:38

Just under £4 on yellow stickered bits today in Asda and 48p on two potatoes in Aldi. £20 on eBay on two jigsaw puzzles. There are £18.99 each in Waterstones/John Lewis so I saved some pennies.

Hope you enjoy your event today @Lockin26. Sorry the tights haven’t arrived.

Loved your wizard/wand/cat analogy @Twogingercats. You’ve been very productive. All I have managed is cleaning the kitchen.

Strangely sunny here too @DirtyGertiefromno30. And very windy. A good day for laundry outside. Enjoy your curry. I thought about your daughter today as one of my animal cookies was part koala part pig.

Will actually watch Traitors this evening. I was distracted by Murdoku yesterday and didn’t. Thinking about a life coach but not sure if it’s too early days. Or if there’s any point. Anyone have any experience?

Frugal25 · 25/10/2026 17:09

Afternoon all,
Apologies, I blinked and it went from Thursday to Sunday....
Friday I did absolutely no work and went to get my hair done £35. Asked hairdresser to do hair at wedding.
Got in touch with a make up artist too.
Yesterday was swimming lessons and putting DD new big girl bed together. She was thrilled. Went to lidl with OH (I feel your pain @SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs) it's a rookie mistake and I spent £87. Thank you for the c.c spread location.
Today a NSD. Went to church and then a free event afterwards which was educational but so much fun.

Ooohhh your wedding afternoon tea has my attention @Twogingercats. Why didn't I do that?? Hmm. Maybe I can get an afternoon tea snuck into the plans somewhere. But yours sounds absolutely beautiful. And do glad your cat is better. Love the tea idea. I shall.follow suit.
@DirtyGertiefromno30so glad your mum is ok. You were good to get all your washing done. Boom!
Enjoy your curry.
@LancashireButterPiethe cake sound amazing and what a great idea on the wedding figures. I see you're a Pinterest girl too. I shall do the same with my figures. Thank you for the idea.
@RumBananaSundaelove an animal biscuit. Nom. Was it good?
I'm feeding my brothers cats for a week which is fun.
Cats def choose us. I always rescue cats and my last cat meela actually got into my handbag when I was standing in the rescue centre having a look at what they had. She had been there 5years and apparently had never raised her head before. Naturally she came home and was so grateful she didn't leave me alone for the very short time I had her.

Oh. And we paid half the balance for wedding venue (in a pot ready) and I paid £97 for wedding insurance. And later I'll.br paying £75 for stationery. I wanted to do it myself but I couldn't see a way of doing it.

We’ll definitely get our money’s worth out of it @Twogingercats! ❤️ Such a good idea , really, especially with the price of drinks when you’re out. Every little saving helps these days 🫖☕.
I couldn't believe DH ,he was all for it and he can be a real misery guts about things like this🤣

You did well with your bargains today @RumBananaSundae👏. Those puzzles were a great saving 👍. I’ve never had any experience with life coaches so can’t really advise, but I suppose it depends what you feel you need from one, can you ask on MN , there are probably lots of people who have had experience of using them . Hope you enjoy Traitors tonight, love it , only 2 episodes left 😁. Aw bless you thinking of my Dd and the Piguanas 🤣

Aww your DD must have been so excited about her big girl bed @Frugal25! ❤️ And bless Meela, she obviously knew you'd come for her.🤗 Five years in the rescue centre, poor thing, how lovely you found each other 😍 . Hope you manage to fit that afternoon tea in the wedding plans l love an afternoon tea it's so charming ❤️ . Thank you re my Mum 🤗

@Twogingercats lol'ing at your mums Club biscuit raid. My DM used to be a fiend for nuts and crisps. Good idea to stock up for the winter. So far I've found a torch that doesn't work so I need to think about this more carefully.

@DirtyGertiefromno30 that's good to know about the yellow stickers at HM on a Sunday. Good job on the washing! My washing basket is overflowing but I didn't dare hang out. My plastic greenhouse blew away overnight. There's been no reports on the local Facebook page and I daren't ask as there's some absolute jokers on that page and I'll get ripped.

@Frugal25 ah your DD and her big girl bed - hope she has a lovely first night's sleep.

@RumBananaSundae I've never used a Life Coach but something to think about for definite - I think I'd really have benefited in the past. I've definitely got imposter syndrome, it holds me back at times. Hope others have more constructive experience than me!

@SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs Toby Cavery saved the day!

Sorry if I missed anyone - just read the last page.

£60 on drinks at event - it's not cheap even when two of us were on soft drinks!
£6 on parking in town

White Stuff tights did not arrive on time, they are now with the courier five days after I ordered. They'll be great though for upcoming later autumn and winter events though.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 25/10/2026 22:05

Oh no @Lockin26, I hope your greenhouse hasn’t blown too far away! I don’t blame you for not asking on Facebook if they’re likely to take the mickey 😱 and £60 on drinks is a helluva lot, especially as you were both on soft drinks 😱. Blinking shame about those tights too , they sound absolutely gorgeous, nevermind like you say you will get a lot of wear out of them over the next few months . Some of the courier services are diabolical 🙄.

Afternoon all

I haven't used a life coach before @RumBananaSundae but sounds such a good idea. A different perspective and maybe a little more expensive in some areas?
DD is loving her big girl bed although the nightmares continue. Hoping it's a phase. I'm not sleeping much and it's starting to make me feel sick.

£4 on a broach for me off vinted. It's Audrey Hepburn and I couldn't resist.
£10 on lunch out for me and DD after swimming.
£75 on deposit for stationery so she can start drafting designs.
Need to stop now as I've overspent already this month and I'm only a week in.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 26/10/2026 16:04

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Weather terrible here wind and rain but strangely warm 17C 😜. Odd as hell .
Mum was fine there today thankfully 🤗❤️🙏. Popped to Waitrose for some cheese for DH he likes their Essentials cheddar and their Long Clawson Shropshire blue . £10 in there .
Popped to Morrisons to pick up Gluten free Baking powder , l have a load of bananas here and l want to make something with them but on the other hand l may just freeze them for now until l am ready 😁 .
Aw bless her @Frugal25 hope the nightmares pass soon and you manage to get some sleep sweetheart ❤️. It's horrible when you're so tired you feel sick. The Audrey Hepburn brooch sounds lovely, I'd have been tempted too! Well done on the stationary deposit too, it's exciting 👏 🤗.
Hope everyone has had a lovely day 🤗

£1.69 today in Aldi. I might go to Sainsbury in a bit just because.

The animal cookies were good thank you @Frugal25. I went specifically to that shop for something else so they were a very pleasant surprise as I’ve not seen them for a long time. Nice to see the wedding planning is progressing. That’s a lovely story about Mela in your handbag. It’s a sure sign she was meant to come home with you. Sorry about your daughter and nightmares. They are not good. And sorry you’re not sleeping too. Don’t be too hard on yourself. X

No idea what I need (except for a job) to be honest @DirtyGertiefromno30. It’s been one thing after another for the five or so years and I really am not sure which way is up. Did enjoy the traitors thank you. Glad your mum is OK. Wind, rain and warm here too. And flowers coming up outside.

Thank you @Lockin26. I want to say I’ll give the coaching a whirl what’s the worst that could happen but I’ve learnt to not say that. Glad you will still be able to wear your sparkly tights. Can believe your greenhouse blew away. I hope you find it.

Wow that’s a successful shop @cuckoolodger.

Had a shirty reply from the theatre today after chasing my refund so that didn’t go down well and with the job search being rubbish has made me feel pants this evening. Can’t believe it’s dark already. Uggg uggg uggg.

Lockin26 · 26/10/2026 17:59

An Audrey Hepburn broach sounds gorgeous and I think £4 is a lovely frugal treat @Frugal25

@DirtyGertiefromno30 the weather is indeed strange today. Still no washing done here! I had a load ready but worked 7am to 1pm and then had to go out so... Will try again tomorrow 🙏

@RumBananaSundae ah it sounds like one thing after another for you and the dark evenings don't help. I was just going to say the same thing - it's so dark! I hope tomorrow is a better day.

£42.56 Morrisons. Thanks for the heads up @cuckoolodger I got £25 off with the £15 voucher and other deals. Couldn't get the £25 to go through but it was a huge saving anyway and takes the pressure off me this week.
£49.08 Lidl - saved £9 here on the Lidl Points Plus as I had a voucher plus coupons.

That's it for today. My White Stuff tights arrived - I forgot to pick them up from the post office on the way home from Lidl! Will get them tomorrow.

No sign of the greenhouse, was just a cheap plastic cover with shelves which all collapsed. I'll have to find another way to grow my spring and summer bulbs. The garden just eats them and they never appear (I am not green fingered) so maybe pots in a sheltered spot!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 26/10/2026 19:07

£1.69 is very good @RumBananaSundae . Hope you find something nice in Sainsbury’s if you do have a mooch. It’s lovely when you come across something you haven’t seen for ages and you really enjoy it 😋
And it's not a bit of wonder you’re feeling pants if it’s been one thing after another for five years sweetheart 🙄. The job hunting is hard enough for you ATM without the blinking theatre messing you about over your refund as well 🙄. You deserve a bit of luck for a change 🤗. Glad you enjoyed The Traitors though, at least you had that to enjoy! It’s getting dark ridiculously early now isn’t it, and this weather doesn’t help either. Lovely to see the flowers coming up though l bet 🤗 .
Thank you re my Mum, bless you for that 🤗

I have one of those greenhouses too @Lockin26 they do blow about don't they. Mine has been torn badly and the poles inside have rusted so time for a new one like you. Pots sound lovely, I love my plants in pots. I'm excited about your tights!!!

Oh @RumBananaSundae you have had a bad run of things. And like others have said, the dark doesn't help. I dislike this time of year for the darkness. The theater don't sound professional at all.

thank you for the vouchers @cuckoolodger!!

Did a pasta dish from a mary berry book. Serves 8 it said. It didn't. It served me, OH and DD at a push. We shall need snacks later. This is prob why I'm bigger than Mary.....

So glad your lovely mum is ok @DirtyGertiefromno30 oohhh am I sensing some banana bread coming on???

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 26/10/2026 19:16

You’ve done well with your savings at Morrisons and Lidl @Lockin26 well done 👍. Shame the £25 wouldn’t go through but at least you’ve saved a fair bit anyway 😊. Hope you get your washing done tomorrow, this weather is so strange today ! Just blinking typical forgetting your tights after all the delays with the couriers , they really don't want to come home to you do they 😂. What a shame about the greenhouse disappearing but pots in a sheltered spot sound a good compromise 👏🤗
