Of course you can join in @LancashireButterPie! 😁 Welcome to our lovely thread . £8 for a leg of lamb to feed four is brilliant, and those chickens were a real bargain too.
Ohh Plum cake 🤤😋

Afternoon all. I am so angry! Ordered a winter coat online on 10th October express delivery. Reached out twice to see where it is with same auto response ‘be patient’ searched reviews for company and it’s full of people saying scammed out money didn’t get goods or are cheap goods drop shipped from China.

I have sent 7 more emails to company all ignored. Need wait 4 days before I can do claim witj credit card.

So annoyed as the zip has broken on the winter jacket I use now 😢

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 21/10/2026 16:14

Oh bless you @DotCottonsSocks, no wonder you’re so upset, especially with your old coat zip breaking too! 😞. It’s awful when you pay for something in good faith and you get scammed . Hope you get your money back without any hassle and can find yourself a lovely warm coat soon. Sending you a big hug sweetheart 🤗 ❤️

Oh @DotCottonsSocksi hope you either get the money back or the coat. Def need a coat now it's so wet and windy.
@Lockin26the call was an absolute waste of time and I had no idea what the work was he was showing me. Told him to go back to the person who sent him my way and try again.
Welcome @LancashireButterPie oohhh lamb on a Tues. Yum.
I don't have a community pantry here. Just googled. Just tgtg bags which I haven't done for a while and my M&S hasn't joined them yet sadly. Although I'm sorry your last bag was rubbish @RumBananaSundae
Oh well done on getting washing and Christmas sguff organized. It's too wet here today for washing so I'll try again tomorrow.
I had a NSD. Tried to buy my friend a hot chocolate but my card decided not to work and by the time I found my other card she had paid. We have arranged another lunch date though and I'll pay then.
Been a bit naughty. I'm going to get my eyebrows waxed tomorrow. I've done it myself for years with my trusty wax pot (I was a beauty therapist in my 20s) but with the wedding coming up I really need them done properly so have booked somewhere up. Nothing big or fancy, just a wax. Also got hair trim tomorrow. Haven't been for months and it's overdue. I also need to ask her whether she does wedding hair or if I need someone else on the day.

I actually had to do some work today. Booooo. But I sold all the shares I had that were tax free so that's £1750 coming my way. I'll put that in my emergency fund when it hits my account. Slowly closing everything down at work. Such a shame as their benefits were amazing. But there we go. I'll start again elsewhere.

RumBananaSundae · 21/10/2026 17:19

No spend day for me today.

Proper chilly indeed @DirtyGertiefromno30. I have slippers on. And a blanket. Not sure how it’s gotten chilly so quickly.

Welcome @LancashireButterPie. Well done on your Vinted sales. You have reminded me to get a wiggle on and try with some listings.

Oh noo I’m sorry about the coat @DotCottonsSocks. I would be angry too. Hopefully the credit card will come through. With seven emails they can’t say you haven’t trued to resolve it yourself.

Hope work is OK @Frugal25. Being unemployed is definitely more expensive.

Will have a look later at jigsaw puzzles on eBay and Vinted. Someone had given me one and I saw the same brand in John Lewis at £79. There was a cheaper brand so I’ll look for them first. Still have housework to do. It will still be there tomorrow.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 21/10/2026 17:28

Typical about the hot chocolate @Frugal25 at least you’ve got another lunch date to pay her back 😁! And you aren't being naughty, you’re allowed a bit of pampering, especially with the wedding coming up sweetheart 😘. Hope she can do your hair for the big day too 👍🙏🤞.Shame about work and the benefits though, but £1750 into your emergency fund is bloody good going! Every little helps and you’ll get yourself sorted somewhere else like you said keep your pecker up sweetheart. One step at a time ❤️

It’s turned so cold all of a sudden @RumBananaSundae.I’ve got my sippers on too 😂. £79 for a jigsaw, blimey! Hope you find a bargain on eBay or Vinted. I have found loads of them in the cancer charity shop . And the housework will still be there tomorrow, no point doing it all today.
Going to have a look at the lovely range of jigsaws l have bought they are based on books . l will post them now hang in them . We love them here ❤️

@SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs shamefully I leave the ignition running while I'm in the house with the heaters full blast (it's an 18 year old Micra so old school heating system). DH rolls his eyes - maybe I should look into a windscreen cover 😂

Welcome @LancashireButterPie the lamb and chicken sound gorgeous, I'm on my way home on the bus and I'm hungry!

I told DC to do a freezer / cupboard dive for tea before I got home - I'm practicing benign neglect aka you are old enough to sort yourselves out!

@cuckoolodger Love the sound of your swimming costume, I have some designer bikini tops from eBay. Just paired them up with new black bottoms. Lamb chilli also sounds delish - I am trying not to snack so I'm soo hungry on the bus!

@DotCottonsSocks ah that's so annoying about the coat - I've been had by one of these companies too! If it helps Morrisons have supplied me with two great winter coats for around the £40 mark each.

Good news about the shares @Frugal25 and that call sounds like a waste of your time! Hopefully you don't have to do too much work now, they don't deserve you.

Good luck with the jigsaw hunt @RumBananaSundae

It's getting cooler here now @DirtyGertiefromno30 and heading for the tail end of a storm this weekend. DD has an 8 mile sponsored walk Friday and then both DC going to a huge outdoor Halloween event Saturday night. What can you do! 🙏🙈

Lockin26 · 21/10/2026 17:51

Oh spends I forgot
£2.10 for a bottle of diet coke - Tesco is so expensive!
£1 in Poundland for 4 Kinder Bars. I did snack on one (as I was restrained about snacking all day)
£16 Amazon - mascara and a sweeping brush as ours got broken

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 21/10/2026 18:22

Oh bless you, hope you get home soon and can get something to eat @Lockin26 . Hope the weather behaves for your DD’s walk and their Halloween night. They will have a great time l bet 🤣. Storm Austen is here tomorrow night too . My DH has spent most of today putting the garden furniture away and battoned down the hatches in preparation for it , fingers crossed 🤞.

Home now @DirtyGertiefromno30 and quickly dispatched DD at cadets. DC have made jumbo scampi, chicken wings, rice and sliced apple between them as they couldn't find any veg (spoiler it's in the bottom of the fridge 😂). Ready meal in the microwave for me, at least I didn't need to come in and start cooking 👍

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 21/10/2026 19:10

So glad you are home safe and sound and well done to your DC @Lockin26 sounds like they did a good job sorting themselves out bless them ! 👏☺️ Lovely that you could come home and not have to worry about cooking, one less thing to do after such a long busy day. Hope you enjoy your tea and put your feet with a nice cuppa ❤️🤗

Thank you ☺️

I hate shopping for clothes and specifically went out shopping few weeks ago to try jackets on and couldn’t see one then I saw exactly when I wanted online now this.

Ive sent them several emails (ignored me) asking for a refund so I have these as proof for bank to make a claim.

Still without a decent coat for this weather though 😢

DotCottonsSocks · 21/10/2026 20:41

@RumBananaSundae @Lockin26 @Frugal25 Thank you all ☺️

I will be keeping the email chain to send over to bank for proof of me asking several times where the items are and also asking for a refund.

I don’t know how these places get away with this? Surely it’s criminal? If I came on here and offered you all a product, you send me money, I don’t send the product then I would assume I am breaking the law?

Anyway, NSD for me. Took lunch to work so many people off with this cold/flu my OH went to GP today he’s been given antibiotics as his chest is bad. We get free prescriptions in Scotland so again NS.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 21/10/2026 20:50

Typical that you finally find exactly what you want online and then this happens @DotCottonsSocks. At least you've got all the emails as proof for the bank, hopefully you'll get your money back with this proof. It's just such a shame you're still without a decent coat when you need one most. Hope you manage to find one soon and l am so sorry to hear your poor DH is so poorly bless him, hope he is better very soon 🤗.

Afternoon all,

I hope your bank gets this sorted for you once you have sent it across. I don't see why they wouldn't.
Your DC sound like they did good with the dinner @Lockin26 yum.
£14 for me for an eyebrow and top lip wax (the downside of having English rose skin and dark hair). She did a good job but when I asked about facials she tried to sell me a face lift and Botox. I guess they did away with the normal beauty side and went for procedures. A shame. I'll go elsewhere in future.
£21 for eco friendly cleaning products that I can then make my cleaning products out of. Green bleach. Washing up liquid. Citric acid etc.
Did have my hair booked but she had double booked herself so I rebooked for tomorrow.

Out with best friend tonight for dinner so that will be around £50 including cabs. I could make it £20 cheaper and do public transport like my friend does but OH doesn't like me using it when it's dark which is fair enough.
Absolutely shattered today. I fell asleep under 3 blankets last night on the sofa. Need to up my green veg maybe.
I'm playing a game at the mo with OH and DD, who can eat the most veg and fruit in a week. We have a list on the fridge we have to add to. So far we are doing good but I do need to mix it up a bit or it's the same stuff each time.

RumBananaSundae · 22/10/2026 16:16

No spend day for me today. But might give some to Mr Amazon later.

Wow @DirtyGertiefromno30. Those were the puzzles I was looking at but the Agatha Christie ones. I will take on your recommendation. Not sure if you have heard of Murdoku. My friend mentioned it to me today and I’ve been playing it online and it’s good. I’ll order a book too.

I share your coat pain @DotCottonsSocks. I had a look in TK Maxx today but nothing suitable. Hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

Enjoy your dinner out tonight @Frugal25.

Felt rather odd today. I put it down to eating 2/3 of a jar of custard cream spread out the jar with a spoon. I do not recommend it. Am going to the cinema later fingers crossed I stay awake.

Hope everyone is OK if they catch any of Austen.

Bloody hell @Frugal25fancy trying to sell you Botox and a facelift when you only wanted a facial 😱. Their loss darling, you’ll find somewhere much better! Enjoy your dinner tonight with your friend, sounds lovely 😋.
Love the fruit and veg competition, you’ll have to get creative now and get one over on OH and DD 🤣.

Afternoon everyone 😊
Battoned down the hatches here ready for Storm Austen , although they have said it's going to be more south than they thought we shall see . NSD for me yay! Mum was lovely there thankfully bless her .Church came and she really enjoyed it ☺️. Take care everyone if you are caught in the storm ❤️

Where did the jar of custard cream spread come from so I can make a sprint there..... @RumBananaSundae enjoy the cinema. What are you seeing?

Updated to add £5 on a book that should hopefully be a step by step guide on how to make a beautiful wedding cake by myself. Mum suggested doing the flowers too but I'll stop at the cake I think. I remember in the 80s when the food, flowers and even bridesmaids dresses were homemade.

SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs · 22/10/2026 17:26

£9 treated DD to a "stuffie" she saw and loved. Think she might be nice to me for a while ten minutes.

Ooh a homemade wedding cake would be lovely @Frugal25 👰💒🤵 ❤️. I remember too when people were so resourceful , my Mum and all my aunties used to run up a dress to go to a works dinner and dance overnight 😁. I think you’re wise to stick to the cake though, it would be very stressful for you to do more sweetheart. I want to know where that custard cream spread is from too 🤣😋
