@Frugal25 enjoy dinner with your bestie. I am meeting mine tomorrow for lunch. We've been friends 40 years next summer and never a cross word. Have another friend who's more like a sister - we argue but always have each other's backs. 😂 The homemade wedding cake sounds gorgeous 😍

@RumBananaSundae you had me at custard cream 😋

@SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs good move with the stuffie. Thanks for the C.C. update!

@DirtyGertiefromno30 pleased Nana Pumpkin enjoyed the church session. Hoping Austen is not too bad down your way, as you know one of my close friends lives not far from you, so most days I check our weather (NE) and her weather!

Hope you got somewhere with the coat situ @DotCottonsSocks

News here - DDs sponsored walk has been cancelled tomorrow due to Storm Austen - fair enough as it's heavy rain but they've also cancelled non-uniform and said full lessons. Suspect it's because it will be rearranged so they don't want to take students out of lessons two days but DD is disappointed. It's her last whole school walk as she is Year 11.

Coop £2.84
Cafe £6.50 - not running down the beach tonight and can't resist the chips and curry!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 22/10/2026 19:47

What a shame about the walk @Lockin26especially as it’s her last one in Year 11 . I bet she’s disappointed bless her 🤗. Hopefully they’ll rearrange it soon. AHH thank you re my Mum she had a good day today 🤗 . You can’t beat chips and curry sauce yummy 😋. Fingers crossed storm Austen isn't too bad 🤞🙏😊.

@Frugal25 , you. Take me back to my wedding three years ago. We had an afternoon tea in the church hall. My sister made all the cakes and the wedding cakes. We got a local lady to ice them. My cousin and friends made all the sandwiches and we got some local people to serve, It was lovely! You will have a beautiful day too.
@DirtyGertiefromno30 ,we used to visit an Aunty in a local care home and the local church visited and took short services. Once, Aunty launched into “Ding dong merrily on high” It was not Christmas and amused everyone very much! they stopped the hymn they were singing and sang it with her😺
Hopoe your Mammy is well. mine has been rather knocked up with her Covid jab but is pulling around. we got her some lucozade to aid recovery.
£180 for pussycat poo sample at the vet. she is lovely, but not frugal.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 22/10/2026 22:17

Your wedding afternoon tea sounds wonderful @Twogingercatsand so generous and sweet of everyone. Your Aunty singing Ding Dong Merrily on High must have been so sweet bless her heart. Hope your Mum feels better soon after her jab. Lucozade is great stuffy Mum has it every day ❤️.
£180 for a poo sample is slot of money but as long as she gets better.

Loving the sound of the wedding afternoon tea. I spent £10 on two little royal doulton china figures yesterday on vinted
They are Poppy Eyebright and Dusty Dogwood (in their wedding clothes) from the Brambly hedge books. I'm going to use them as cake toppers on the wedding cake I'm making for DD next year. It's a tiny wedding, so just a one tier cake but she adores brambly hedge and wants the cake to be a surprise.

LancashireButterPie · 23/10/2026 08:51

This is the look I'm going for with the wedding cake.

cuckoolodger · 23/10/2026 09:42

@LancashireButterPie. The figures did like a bargain and they will be perfect I’m sure 🥰. I hope you share pictures of the cake after the event!

I’m going to be trying my best for a Nsd today. I’m not feeling great anyway so try to keep busy with some chores and getting dinner on for tonight. My DH has requested sourdough for next weeks packed lunches so I need to wake my starter up and get feeding. But tbh I might just use instant yeast as I’ve got a feeling I might be coming down with something

RumBananaSundae · 23/10/2026 15:09

Spent a bit yesterday. £8.49 on a book at amazon, £1 on a tube of mints and 59p on some oat cookies. Today it’s been 3.25 on milk and crisps. They are off the naughty step.

Making your wedding cake sounds a good shout @Frugal25.

Seeing the weather here today I’d say good shout to whoever cancelled your daughters walk @Lockin26. Chips and curry is a good replacement for a run.

Pussycat does not sound frugal at all @Twogingercats. I hope she is ok.

It’s rather breezy here today. And wet. And it’s so dark you’d think the sun had already set. My summer robe is in the laundry and my winter robe is on. Not looking forward to venturing out later but at least I don’t have far to go. Have been rained on twice already today.

Twogingercats · 23/10/2026 15:40

Good afternoon all. Deep breath,,
£47 Costco, bacon and eggs, individual OJ cartons for Mum, cans of pop and large jar of Tiptree marmalade. and large pack or Twix biscuits for Mr Gingercats who is diabetic but struggles to keep sugar levels up.
£24 Sainsburys, newspaper, custard, crisps, and can’t remember.
£25 Cats at Home for one bag of cat biscuits!
£22 Butchers. 24 sausages for the price of 18, and 2lbs mince.
Puss seems a bit better, thanks @RumBananaSundae . We knew when we took her on that she would be a sickly cat, she is worth it. New vet not cheap but seems an excellent practictioner.. and so kind and gentle with her.
The cake sounds lovely @LancashireButterPie , nobody raves about a shop bought cake, and the mice sound a nice touch. An intimate wedding sounds lovely.
Hope Mum ok, @DirtyGertiefromno30 . Mine is recovered and eating well today, after being off her food for a day or two.
Happy Friday and half term everybody x😺

SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs · 23/10/2026 16:00

Hope everybody is keeping safe in this weather

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 23/10/2026 16:31

What a lovely idea @LancashireButterPie! 🥰 Poppy Eyebright and Dusty Dogwood in their wedding clothes will look absolutely gorgeous on the cake ❤️. That cake looks stunning l love it ! What a lovely surprise for your DD, especially as she loves Brambly Hedge. My Mum has all the Brambly Hedge figures bless her 😁.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 23/10/2026 16:35

Oh bless you @cuckoolodger, l hope you’re not coming down with anything sweetheart 🤗. Just do what you can and leave the rest. Instant yeast sounds like a much easier option if you’re not feeling great! Hope you feel better soon 🤗

A book is always money well spent in my book @RumBananaSundae😁 .
I will get my coat 😁 . I have been looking at Waterstones for a few books for Dd1 for Christmas. She wants The Iliad translation by Emily Wilson . She has The Odyssey, that she also translated and DD said it was brilliant she couldn't put it down .
This weather is so miserable and to think it's going to get worse doesn't bear thinking about 😱. Definitely winter robe and cuppa weather, hope have a lovely evening ☺️

You’ve been busy today @Twogingercats! Cat food or any pet food has gone so dear now . Glad to hear your Fur baby better and is eating again bless her . Lovely to hear you've found a vet who’s so kind and gentle, especially when you’ve got a poorly fur baby . They’re worth every penny, bless them. ❤️ My Mum is ok again today thank you for asking and l am so glad your Mum is feeling more herself and back to eating bless her. Hope you have a lovely weekend and half term too sweetheart 😘

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Weather has been ok here until half 12 then it rained and blew a gale but I where near the wind speed of storm Austen thankfully 🤗. Mum fine, she's with my sister today . Took Mums friend shopping to Aldis and spent £21.70 on bits for us and Mum .
Beautiful here now sunny and blue skies you just wouldn't believe it!
Hope everyone is ok and safe from the storm . Have a lovely weekend and a great half term everyone 😊

About £50 today in a combination of Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and Waitrose.

Glad Puss is on the mend and has a lovely vet @Twogingercats. Even though I know she isn’t ginger I always picture her as being ginger when you mention her. That must have been quite a bag of cat biscuits.

I’ve been into Waterstones a few times this week @DirtyGertiefromno30. I have kept my purse in my pocket so far. I enjoyed the Iliad and Odyssey when I read them many moons ago. How is your mum today?

Got rather carried away in Tesco today. I had £10 until the end of the week so have failed on that front. They had animal cookies, which I’ve not had for years, and it went downhill from there. I’d taken the bus so I made the most of it. I have random things in the cupboard now but will feed myself for a good few days.

Will eat animal cookies while catching up on traitors later. And have some yop.

Hope everyone is OK in the weather.

SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs · 24/10/2026 17:17

£27 in Tesco - approximately £10 of this is necessary; I made the mistake of taking the child and husband. Fool.
£22 at Burger King. It's so expensive nowadays but been craving it for ages.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 24/10/2026 19:52

Animal cookies would have done me in too @RumBananaSundae 😋! At least you’ve got plenty to eat for the next few days, so not all bad sweetheart . Enjoy your cookies and Yop watching Traitors 😁. I’d have struggled in Waterstones, so well done for resisting 😂 . Mum’s been OK today, thank God and thank you for asking 🤗. Hope you’re keeping safe and dry with all this awful weather. It's not stopped raining here all day 🙄

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 24/10/2026 19:55

I try not to take my Dds with me shopping it costs a fortune @SpookyHalloweenDeviledEggs 😁.
Oh lovely Burger King, l bet you enjoyed that! Yummy 😋😁

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 24/10/2026 20:03

Been to see my Mum , she was ok there thankfully 🙏. It's been awful weather here today ,raining and windy as hell .
I went to see my friend , took her birthday presents and cards . I was there ages hence not posting here till now but we had a good conflab 😁. My cousin then phoned me to tell me all her news and to see how my Mum is and we always talk for ages , she's so lovely 😍. So it's been a busy old day here 😁. NSD though so that's good 👍.
Hope everyone is ok with this awful weather . Stay safe and warm everyone 🤗 ❤️

Been blowing a gale here with Storm Boelo - think it's a lot worse in parts of Scotland (we are NE England). DC had an outdoors Halloween event tonight and they still went. It was really wild and wet at one point! I picked them up with blankets in the car. All good and safely home now.

Been a bit spendy on a new autumn / winter wardrobe but hopefully pieces that will last a few years at least. I was down to a couple of decent tops - I sold a few on Vinted earlier in the year as I wasn't wearing them.
£48.62 M&S for wide leg trousers and black cord jeans
£39.98 New Look for a jumper and a cardi. Had 25% off knitwear so that was a nice surprise at the checkout.
Also two new long sleeve t-shirts in New Look but these were an exchange so at least not another expense!
Gave DC £50 today for lunch and the event tonight.
£1 Poundland
£9.35 Home Bargains.

Annoyed with White Stuff - still waiting for tights. It said 2-3 working days for delivery to an Evri shop. Only dispatched on day 3. Got an event tomorrow I wanted them for 🤔 on that note I hope your coat refund was resolved @DotCottonsSocks

Hope everyone is okay in the storms

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 24/10/2026 22:23

So glad you’re all home safe @Lockin26, it sounds absolutely awful out there! Lovely that you picked them up with blankets ready to keep them warm bless you ❤️. Don’t feel bad about spending on clothes, especially when you needed them and you deserve some nice new things too! 😊 Such a shame about the tights though just typical when you need them tomorrow nevermind, have a great time ☺️
