Needed to pop to the bank so went into town while there had a little wander and £10 in marks and Spencer, £3 in boots and £3 for parking for it all.

That's a great price @Rainbow1961 😊. All th3 better you won't eat them before Christmas, not like here , we have scoffed half the Halloween stash already 😱😁.

We don't even need a Halloween stash as we will out at a show that evening - so a saving to be made there at least. Not sure if we'll treat ourselves to a big mac that night 😅or eat out somewhere a bit better!! We'll see how the finances go.

Lockin26 · 03/09/2026 22:10

These last few days have been LSDs less than £20 all week. Tonight was £61 in Lidl but that included 3 x birthday cards and XXL deal on 4 rump steak so that will cover a weekend treat.

Cleared out the freezer this morning, thanks to the inspiration on this thread and that has created four nice meals that I didn't have yesterday.

Happy anniversary @DirtyGertiefromno30 44 years is amazing 🤩

Sorry will catch up fully over the weekend. Full on day today with work and DDs activity tonight.

Frugal25 · 04/09/2026 10:33

Happy anniversary @DirtyGertiefromno30 and Mr dirty.
Wow. 44 years. Rare these days. Any wisdom you can pass on??
Scones in the freezer is a great idea, I might make some and do the same @Twogingercats thank you

Well. I spent a bit yesterday. Sigh.
£108 in Lidl. I did get a birthday card, a magazine for me and grabbed a few bits off list though.
Then £64 on insurance for the blingy ringy as my home insurance wouldn't cover it.
£18 roughly on soft play after first day at school. All her friends go every week but we normally have gymnastics so can't make it. So we tagged along yesterday. Wow. School and soft play means bedtime was at 7!!!! Unheard of.
Then I went out with best mate to tell her about engagement. Despite me throwing it under her face for 2 hours she didn't twig. So I just said "congratulations on being my maid of honour". Cue lots of hugs and tears.
Dinner out with her cost about £52 including taxis. I don't begrudge it as we only see each other about every 4 months.

Today with be NSD for me.

First day at school went so well. Off she went through the gates first, leading the rest with a glance over her shoulder to say a casual "bye mummy". Oh gosh the tears I had (but didn't show her). And when I picked her up I was told she is a very confident and lovely little girl. Cue more tears of pride.
Been given a promotion at work, and before you all congratulate me, it's to replace someone above me but I won't be paid their wages. I'm literally just taking on their work. I have decided to do it, do an amazing job and in my next end of year bring it up and say "show me the money".

Hope everyone is ok today. Yay it's Friday.

Love a new washing line. Which reminds me. I need a new airer.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/09/2026 15:03

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Been to see Mum and she was fabulous there thank God 🙏
She ate and drank really well for me and l was so relieved 😁.
We came home and l went to the dentist and had my crown put back on thankfully only £25 that was money well spent . I had a cancellation at last min l was so lucky!
Went shopping to Aldi then, for stuff for Mum and us £68 only a few bits 😱. Just got home and had a protein yogurt and a cup of tea. I can't eat solids till this evening. Popped to the pharmacy and picked up my prescription. Just put the washing out and l forgot to say l bought a brown mat for the front room it was only £17 . We don't buy presents for each other so that was just a little pressie for our wedding anniversary 🤗.

What a busy day for you @Frugal25! Don't worry about the spending , it was an exceptional 24 hours and every penny was well spent sweetheart!
Hearing how confident your DD was on her first school day is just wonderful and a 7pm soft play bedtime is a great bonus 😁👏
Waving your ring for two hours before just dropping the Maid of Honour offer to your friend is just brilliant 💍🤣👏.
Your work strategy sounds spot on, too, smash the role, then get the money at review time, what's not to like sweetheart 😁.
Re the marriage advice , who sl l to give advice. 🤣, but you did ask , only thing l would say is to never take each other for granted 🤗.

@Rainbow1961great idea going out for Halloween! I am thinking of doing the same and putting the sweets in a sweet bowl and leaving it outside although l do love seeing the outfits so l might have to veto that lol 🤣.

Spendy two days here. Bought some drugs so I have about six months worth. Just under £5 on random groceries. Spend £24.99 on a TGTG delivery of 36 tins of Mutti chopped tomatoes. It’s coming with Evri so not sure they’ll arrive. I’ve had one TGTG delivery before and thought it was very good value. Though not sure when I’ll eat them or where I’ll put them.

Happy anniversary @DirtyGertiefromno30. And Mr Dirty. Enjoy your takeaway. Glad your mum is OK.

Love how your ring is being referred to as blingy ringy @Frugal25. Glad Little Miss Frugal has taken well to school and that work is OK for you.

Feeling rather drained. Not been running for three days so that’s not helping. Am determined to relax this weekend as much as I can. Spoke to my friend today and she’s off to see The Tapestry on Thursday. I’m rather jealous.

Cuwins · 04/09/2026 19:11

About £25 on lunch in a cafe for me and DD but had a lovely time catching up with friends so worth it

Twogingercats · 04/09/2026 20:12

@DirtyGertiefromno30 , many happy returns of your wedding anniversary . Hope you had a lovely day.
Spending today, £20 having toes done. Mum came too and had full pedicure. Unfortunately she managed to overturn the foot spa, how I do not know. The therapist was very nice about it and mopped all the water up. £8.50 at market cafe, which is very good, tea and a bun for Mum and I had a coke. £17 on 2 Christmas presents and £28 on Opera screening tickets for next February.
I picture you all consuming scones and jam over the weekend!
DH begged off freezer surfing today and had a steak pie from the butchers. Mum nobly had egg and chips!😺

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/09/2026 20:12

Six months of meds sorted and 36 tins of Mutti tomatoes, well done sourcing them and being prepared @RumBananaSundae 👏. Good luck finding room for all those tins and fingers crossed Evri delivers the box in one piece, knowing what EVRI are like is half the battle, if they turn up at all it's a plus 😁🤞.
It’s no wonder you’re feeling drained with all that is going on , don't be hard on yourself for taking time out , you need it sweetheart 🤗
I’m jealous of the Bayeux Tapestry trip too 🤬👿🤣. A quiet weekend for you to properly recharge sounds like just what you need. Get your feet up and enjoy a peaceful couple of days and have a good rest sweetheart 😘❤️

The tomatoes are an excellent buy @RumBananaSundae . I buy them from Costco, an excellent standby. Will look out for TGTG though.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/09/2026 20:19

Thank goodness the therapist was so sweet about the foot spa @Twogingercats she's probably used to it happening though part of the job l expect . You can't beat egg and chips and l lol @ your DH wanting the pie , l bet it was delicious 😋. You've done well ticking off Christmas gifts and an Opera treat for February too. We will absolutely do our best to consume our weight in scones and jam this weekend 🤣😋 and thank you for the goods wishes for our anniversary we have had a busy but happy day 😁

So what's the secret of 44 years?
You've managed 30 years longer than we have so far.
I'm guessing similar to my mum in the idea of he is a bit of a twat at times but he's my twat.

Oh well done to mini Frugs on their first day at school. Same to mini Egg if they started too. They are such little stars ⭐

@Frugal25 good plan at work - hoping it pays off (literally £££).
@DirtyGertiefromno30 hope by now you're back on solid foods. Not a bad price at the dentist.
@RumBananaSundae hope you can get some down time over this weekend or exercise. I am going back to tomorrow after the infected bee sting stopped me last weekend - it'll be hard tomorrow morning as I have 2 x gym classes booked. Did not realise TGTG did deliveries - tomatoes are a good buy.
@Twogingercats good prepping skills there with the Christmas presents
@Cuwins lunches like that are well worth it 😊

Today was v LS so far £1.30 for a bag of crisps from a vending machine. Got home and had a freezer dive for tea. Then caved and ordered a 'desserts delivered' for me and DC on Just Eat for £24. Cookie dough pie for me. My first order on Juts Eat so I've got free delivery. It's Friday and even though I only worked three days it's felt like a very long week.

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Got up early and went shopping,
Farmfoods £14
Tesco £35
Morrisons £23
Home Bargains £33
They have their Christmas stock out in ours and they have some lovely things
I did buy wrapping paper 12m for £1.29
And 12 sheets of tissue paper for 99p.
I don't know how they can sell it so cheaply in comparison to the other shops tbh.
Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend 😁
