A lush day has been had with my best friend on paper we couldn't be any different but she's one of my favourite people on earth.
Mini egg pot is still untouched. Not sure I'm operating it right tbh but I'm happy enough.

Glad you had a great time with your bestie @Ovoemconserva🤗

£3.99 so far on balloons for OH birthday this week as DD said it's not a birthday without balloons. And obv she is correct

Rainbow1901 · 02/08/2026 10:26

DH picked me up from work yesterday and took me off to B&Q!! Bought two more garden lights still in the sale for £5 each and he bought some bits and bobs for finishing off jobs around the house and a bag of cement to reset some loose flags on the patio. So £39.50 on nothing much!! But my floating shelf/drawer is up - just need a mirror to complete the dressing table look. Already have my stool which the cat has commandeered!! 🐱DH still needs to finish installing double plug - he has no excuses now!! We have bought what he needed in B&Q!! 🙄
On the plus side paid in some cash to the bank to offset some debt but I am off to Bingo with a friend tonight - so hoping for a lucky win!! 😀Not been paid from work yet so will pay some more in next week but in the meantime can't spend it!! So that's a positive!!
Need to audit the freezers and make a list of what we have and do some meal planning and hopefully avoid shopping for a few more days. Hoping to do some cake baking with GCs this week and avoid buying kids treats and snacks.
I also have a day out planned with a friend this week - we normally meet up to take our GCs for a day out but the kids are all away at the end of this week with their families so we are having a day out for ourselves for once!! 😎
🙋@Joyful26

It's almost like mini egg heard what I said yesterday and thought I'll change that fact 😆

She is indeed correct and we wouldn't be brave enough to argue otherwise.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 02/08/2026 13:43

Haha at your DH dragging you off to B&Q @Rainbow1901 😂 . At least you got 2 more bargain garden lights 😁.
Good getting some cash paid off the debt too well done 🤗. Lovely you’re having a day out with your friend 🤗

Bet you're pleased you had the pot ready for mini egg @Ovoemconserva 😂

Hope you slept better and enjoyed the road trip @RumBananaSundae

Good luck at the bingo @Rainbow1901

Hello and welcome @Joyful26this thread is perfect for keeping track of spending.

Hope everyone else is having a nice day..

Been out for breakfast with DHs family which was lovely. Paid for with the pot DSIL and I have, by selling things from late PIL house. I've an item going to auction next week so will see what that brings!

£25 deposit on a micro lodge with a hot tub at October half term. Near Scarborough which is about 2 or so hours from here. Between DHs dodgy knee and the likely inclement weather in October we've postponed hiring a VW camper van until Easter! I'm trying to convince them of the lifestyle but I think that would put them off!

I'm home for the rest of the day so other than the £25 deposit which is from the yearly holiday budget then I'm almost on a NSD 😲

Lockin26 · 02/08/2026 13:47

Sorry missed your post @Frugal25 yes balloons are essentials indeed.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 02/08/2026 18:33

Afternoon everyone 😊
Spends today £30 for a card and afternoon tea for my ex bil birthday who is absolutely lovely bless him. Breakfast with DH’s family sounds fab @Lockin26, and great that it came from the pot you and DSIL have made . Hope the auction item does well next week 🤞
That micro lodge sounds fab, especially with a hot tub! 😍 Probably wise leaving the VW camper until Easter with DH’s dodgy knee and October weather bless him . I’m sure you’ll get them converted to the campervan life eventually! Keep on plodding 😊

And almost a NSD too 😲 Result! ❤️

£1.92 in Asda. No I didn’t need any of it.

Thank you @Lockin26. Slept last night so feeling a bit better today. Hope you’re doing ok. My sister and I haven’t spoken since one of my parents died (more than three years) so people aren’t always on their best behaviour in that situation. Today it’s 29 here.

Welcome @Joyful26 .

Stonehenge and a few places near there @Frugal25 so not far. It was a nice day. Your daughter is indeed correct (autocorrect changed that to firecracker… not sure if that’s a sign) about the balloons.

Fingers crossed you win all the prizes tonight @Rainbow1901.

Actually had a comparably relaxing day today. Worked on an application. Ignored all correspondence I’m meant to be dealing with. Fell asleep trying to catch up on Sewing Bee so started it again and fell asleep. How is it August already?

Cuwins · 02/08/2026 18:43

£80 for big Tesco shop today. Later I’m going to be doing Merlin annual passes for DD and I- have £60 off one using clubcard vouchers but still expensive. However I think we will get enough use to make it worth while and the idea is pre paying for the days out before we move as initially atleast we will need to cut back on spending for days out.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 02/08/2026 18:58

You’ve actually had a proper relaxing day for once bless you @RumBananaSundae! Sod the correspondence, it’ll still be there tomorrow. And falling asleep twice trying to watch Sewing Bee says it all! You must be catching up on your sleep sweetheart . I know right! How on earth is it August already 😱

OP posts:
DirtyGertiefromno30 · 02/08/2026 19:00

@Cuwinsyou will get such good use out of those passes . We used to do them through Tesco Clubcard when the girls were younger they were such a help money wise .

Morning all, had a reasonably low spend weekend. Just food an toiletries. I need to get some things at Boots today and drop my recycling off.
I got paid in cash for a cat sit I did so have been trying to use that so my bank account stays fuller.
I'm working this week so can't really spend much. We get lunch provided-just sandwiches but it saves me money and the effort of making something!
DM doesn't have a date for her op so hoping it will be after our holiday now.

Cuwins · 03/08/2026 08:19

Should be a NSD here. Off to our weekly meet at a friends today for our home ed lesson, then I’m working this evening.

Frugal25 · 03/08/2026 14:28

Afternoon all
£3.75 on an ice cream yesterday at national trust. We went to Winston Churchills house. Just gorgeous.
Ooohh Stonehenge, I've never been @RumBananaSundae you're so lucky. But sorry about you and your sibling. That's tough :(
So OH said that if I opened a revolute account we got £70.
I did. Got nothing. Turned out I needed to spend £25 first. And so did he. Before we got it. Now. I've said it before and I'll no doubt say it again. My OH is an old fashioned gent, a lovely man, kind, funny and very handsome. He is also very intelligent. But. Common sense sometimes lacks. Spending money to get money back..... He has pestered me for days to do it. I've done it and bought things I did need but could have waited for. Argh!!!

Also called up verisure to get a quote for a house alarm. They wanted to see me today as apparently the offer runs out NOW,!! I've called them back to say no and they won't actually accept the word no. I'll just not answer the door. I just wanted a quote. Not a home visit to be bullied into something. Being pushy doesn't appeal to me. Sigh.

I need to catch up on sewing bee too. Will.make a note to drink coffee whilst watching.

Ovoemconserva · 03/08/2026 14:36

Today's expenses 😭

£7 charity shop buys
£20 consumables whilst out.
£2 parking.

Minus £13 in mini eggs pot running at £117 currently.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 03/08/2026 17:34

Actually we did make (cooking is a bit strong!) s’mores which were yummy and food always plays a big part in our day, occasionally cooking! But home education not home economics.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 03/08/2026 17:48

I like the sound of this Home Ed you go to @Cuwins😁 s'mores are delicious and gluten free yay! 😂😋👏

Good evening - hope everyone had a nice weekend. All this talk about yummy cakes and coconut & mango magnums is making my mouth water!

Sorry that some of you are coping with family issues. Tricky times bring out the best and worst in people and it's harder when it's family.

Last week was a mixed bag. I spent £79 on my fares into London, £16 on cards, wrapping paper etc (and balloons!) for grandaughter's birthday and £22 on workday food which is too much for the 2 days I'm in the office.

I have a long commute and don't get home until past 8pm. I've got in the habit of buying food from M&S etc to eat for the journey home which needs to stop. I will make sure I have something quick & light in at home that I can have once I'm in. I don't want a heavy meal at that time.

RumBananaSundae · 03/08/2026 18:57

89p on some jam tarts in sainsbury.

£60 is a good discount @Cuwins.

Ohhh Winston Churchill’s house @Frugal25. I’ve never been. Did you look round the gardens? Stonehenge was good. We had the first time slot so it was quite empty. Saw the Magna Carta too. It’s tiny. Sorry about the alarm people that would cause me stress too.

Greggs TGTG are always packed @DirtyGertiefromno30. How are you finding the gluten free eating?

Had some pasta salad made with left overs. It was very nice but unfortunately was a throw everything in salad and I can’t remember what I threw in. Tomorrow will involve eggs. Trying to arrange a day out with a friend. It’s eye watering how much train travel is. It cheaper to fly to Switzerland than it is for her to get to London.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 03/08/2026 19:57

Those London fares certainly add up @AphraBehn😱 ! Having something quick and light ready at home sounds ideal after getting in so late. You work really long days it must be horrible you must be exhausted. Hope your granddaughter had a lovely birthday bless her 🎈😊.

Did end up spending £3 on 2 different first birthday presents but it was an absolute bargain book from the Christmas bargain threads on here so I’m very happy with that
