Well, I have been to a third party garage this morning did not say I had had a service etc etc and just asked for a break check. . . Everything is fine!
So I believe the garage saw the car seat in the back of my car looked at me and decided I wouldn't question it.
Can't wait for them to ring for feedback 😆

Glad the first week of the holidays hasn’t been too painful money wise for you @Rainbow1901. Hopefully the trips can stay in reserve for when boredom strikes 😂 . And yes, worth keeping GS doing a bit of writing, even if he’s not keen!
Hope you get some extra hours in too. And 😂 at the paddling pool saga those GCs certainly know how to wreck them!

Its so absolutely maddening I feel sorry for the vulnerable people they've probably targeted this week whose for whatever reason not thought to shop around etc and they've just milked.

Thats shocking @Ovoemconserva thank god you had sense to double check. What did they say when you told them?!
£7 here on a large roll of brown wrapping paper that I use for everything. Birthday, Christmas and vinted.
Oohhh cream cakes @DirtyGertiefromno30 I bet they really enjoyed those. You are such a lovely lady.
Another paddling pool leak here. My grass is very green from being watered by it. Hose pipe ban comes here on Monday so I may fill it tomorrow (after leak is repaired) and try and keep it clean for her for a week or so as much as I can or she won't have any pool fun.
Pizza night here so I'd better log off work to go and make them. Hopefully eating in the garden tonight as it's so lovely.

Oh. And I registered the kittens with the vets at long last to get their flea treatment sorted now they are going in the garden for a few minutes a day.

RumBananaSundae · 31/07/2026 17:49

£3.24 in Aldi on milk and their coconut/mango version of magnums (they are nice) and £33 in Marks and Spencer on gym/running clothes in their sale. I’ll knock a bit off that as I got some delay repay money for Tuesday.

Thank you @DirtyGertiefromno30. Another one today. I’m sorry about your daughter. I hope things look up for her. I did hear that they are getting hundreds of applications for jobs they would not have been able to fill a couple of years ago. Piguana to all. Except you lovely people here. Bet your mum’s friends loved the scones

I made it @Frugal25. And then ate most of it. I know what you meant. Thank you. X My birthday day was a non-event but my friend took me on a road trip earlier this week and that was a lovely day. Enjoy your pizza.

Thank you @Lockin26. I used some to make a banana microwave cake. Well done on the lottery win. Sorry relatives are being toads. Maybe drive somewhere far far away in the camper van?

Good on you for going somewhere else @Ovoemconserva.

Hoping the new gym clothes will get me out tomorrow.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 31/07/2026 18:00

£7 for that roll of paper is brilliant especially if you use it for everything @Frugal25.
Aww thank you re the cakes ❤️ . They definitely enjoyed them, they didn’t hang around for long 😂. Oh dear another pool leak . At least your grass is getting a good watering 😂 .Good idea filling it tomorrow and trying to keep it going through the hosepipe ban, Dd needs some pool fun while she can bless her !
Pizza tonight sounds lovely 🍕 hopefully you can eat it in the garden , perfect weather for it.
Ahh the kittens are registered at the vets ❤️! They must be loving getting out in the garden for a little potter about.

Ooh coconut and mango Aldi Magnums 😋 they sound lovely @RumBananaSundae! £33 on gym stuff isn’t too bad either , especially from Marks , their gym stuff is excellent quality l reckon . It’s mad how quickly things have changed with jobs, hundreds applying for ones they couldn’t fill a couple of years ago 😱. Piguana to everyone except us😂! Aww thank you ❤️. I really hope things pick up for her and you too sweetheart. Mum’s friends loved the scones bless them, they went down very well indeed 🤣.

@Rainbow1901 pay day here yesterday, I need to do the same and leave the current account pretty bare!

@Frugal25 and @Rainbow1901 shows how much fun they are having in the paddling pools for all of these leaks to happen! Hope you get that repaired and filled today Frugs - lots more fun next week!

Indeed @RumBananaSundae Piguana to them all!

@DirtyGertiefromno30 oh I bet those cream cakes and scones went down well, you'll have made their day 🩷

@Ovoemconserva wow that's shocking, so pleased you got a 2nd opinion - but the first garage more piguanas! 😡

@RumBananaSundae hope you do get out in your gym clothes today. Yes piguana to all but us!

DB said no to a retirement flat with immediate availability yesterday. It doesn't have carpets (he has the money in his account to carpet the full block after living in DMs house rent free for 4 years!) and he could smell cigarette smoke in the communal corridor. And he hasn't put the energy into his name at DMs so we now have a demand on the estate to pay. Dsis x 2 refusing to put the house on the market until he's out, I don't think he will go until the sale is proceeding or the completion date. It's a house that will sell itself (we have a cash buyer already keen) so that's frustrating, as it would benefit all four of us and the seven GC but noooo effing alcoholic DB takes priority... Oldest Dsis was so spiteful to me out of earshot from middle Dsis and DB last week. It's jealousy. I grassed her up to middle Dsis last night as she came to my house so I could do it outside of messaginf. If it wasn't for middle Dsis I'd be slapping a solicitors letter on the older two. Have agreed with DH we won't talk about it this weekend as I'm sick to the back teeth of them. Piguanas!

Yesterday
£30 favourite candle shop, got 3 for 2 as I took a lot of their jars back to be recycled.
£20 meal out with old work friends of almost 20 years, well worth it as we all had a vent!
£3.40 M&S
Also a £9.99 refund from Amazon

Also I put in expenses at work for the first time in years! It's only ever a little bit of mileage and is such a complicated procedure. The extra money will cover a few city centre parking passes each month going forward.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/08/2026 07:51

Good morning everyone 🌄 🤗
Up early this morning off to see my friend at hers this morning ☺️
Oh God @Lockin26I don't blame you being sick to the back teeth of the whole lot of them! 😡 . Your DB turning down a flat because it hasn't got carpets and he could smell smoke in the lobby, after living in your DM's house rent free for 4 years would have me raging too! Especially when your poor Mum had to breathe in his alcoholic fumes for all that time . I have first hand experience of their breath the next day , it's nauseating 🤮.
Especially when he's got the money to sort the carpets himself. And now the energy bill is landing on the estate too. 🙄
It's so frustrating when you've got a cash buyer ready and the house could be sold and benefit all of you and the 7 GC, but nooo selfish DB has to come first. 😡 I think you're right to have a weekend off from talking about it. You must be so sick of it. Glad you told middle Dsis what oldest Dsis said too.
Piguanas indeed! 😂😂
At least yesterday had some good bits for you sweetheart. 3 candles for £30 with 3 for 2 and recycling the jars is a result! 🕯️ £20 for a meal and a good old vent with old work friends sounds well worth it too. And well done putting your expenses in! That'll soon pay for a few parking passes each month. Every little helps! I am so sorry you are having this awful time with your family . It makes me feel bad for you because l have had experience of alcoholism in my family and understand your frustration and sadness . I think some of it is possibly you feeling sad for the life your poor Mum had the last 4 years of her life . He was like a noose around her neck . Your poor Mum and you bless you sweetheart, you vent here all you need. Have a lovely weekend with your beloved ❤️

And I’m back! American relatives off to Scotland now. We have had a really fun week with days out and dinner out every day. But I would hate to add up the cost!
Today we need to do a small shop for essentials and plan a big delivery for tomorrow but other than that it should be a NSD as we all need a quiet weekend.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/08/2026 14:37

Sounds like you’ve had a brilliant week @Cuwins. Days and dinner out every day sounds fab, but definitely don’t add up the cost! 😂😁👏. Have a lovely weekend 😊

Afternoon all,
£12.99 on a foam sword for DD as she wants to knight us all like the queen. I don't mind at all, it's lady frugal from now on if you don't mind.
£26 on getting a key cut for DB so he can cat sit when we go away . I'll take that out of the holiday pot seeing as it's related.
OH paid for my petrol and filled the tank up bless him.

Oh @Lockin26argh. I'm angry for you. That would make me so frustrated, so glad you're having a weekend off chatting about it.
Hope you had a lovely time with the relatives @Cuwins
How was your friend @DirtyGertiefromno30? Did you have fun?

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 01/08/2026 17:55

Am loving the sword for DD @Frugal25 🤣. Bless her she is so sweet and funny ❤️.
Well done to your DH he's a good un 😊. Yes thank you we had a great time putting the world to rights 🤣👏

A lush day has been had with my best friend on paper we couldn't be any different but she's one of my favourite people on earth.
Mini egg pot is still untouched. Not sure I'm operating it right tbh but I'm happy enough.

RumBananaSundae · 01/08/2026 19:24

£2.30 in Marks and Spencer on some frozen vegetables and 85p in Aldi on crisps.

Sorry about your family woes @Lockin26. It would be aggravating me too. I do hope there is movement soon. Didn’t make the gym today. Was still trying to get to sleep at 530 so gave up on any kind of activity.

Ohhh Lady @Frugal25. That’s a well spent £12.99.

Glad you had a great time with your friend today @DirtyGertiefromno30. Am thinking about your scones.

Well done on the untouched pot @Ovoemconserva.

Ovoemconserva · 01/08/2026 19:38

Am I such a child that I giggled at "I'm thinking about your scones"?

Lockin26 · 01/08/2026 19:40

Lady Frugal it is @Frugal25 how lovely.

Well done on the undisturbed mini egg pot @Ovoemconserva

Ah @RumBananaSundae sorry you had a bad night 😕 I really hope you get a better night's sleep. I'm not surprised you didn't make the gym.

@DirtyGertiefromno30 thank you for your thoughtful message about DM. It has been hard but I'm on the up, today at least!

Thank you for your kindness Frugaleers about my ridiculous DB situ! Had a much better day, feel prepared to let this go for now as some of my family relationships are too important. I think by the end of August middle Dsis will crack and put the house up for sale, even if he doesn't move out. I'm going to be the supportive one until then and enjoy August.

Lidl £21.99
Coop £1.54

Had a really lazy afternoon after two gym classes this morning. It's 16° and windy here, I've got a lovely wool blanket on the sofa with a book. While feeling envy of the parts of the country still basking in sunshine ☀️ whereas j bet most are fed up with the heat!

Lockin26 · 01/08/2026 19:46

Ps @Cuwins pleased you had a great time with the relatives and now a lovely quiet weekend.

Joyful26 · 01/08/2026 23:32

Hello all, I would like to join this thread please?

I’ve overspent badly in June and July and need to live within my means from now on.

August should be a quiet month so if I’m sensible it should be doable.

today was just about an No spend day, but this evening I rented a movie on Amazon for £3.99 for dc.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 02/08/2026 08:22
