Yay!!!!
£8.50 on posting two birthday presents.
£65 on going out to lunch with friends. We haven't been out ever as a foursome so was lovely and plan to do it again. Hoping OH pays half in a bit...

Hope the period pains go soon @deep.
I have played holidays. And midwives I had to push a dolly out. All very exciting. But I got a lie down so....

Ovoemconserva · 04/07/2026 18:59

Can we discuss scotch eggs?
Truthfully, I'm of the opinion some things just shouldn't be messed with.
I was offered a Piccalilli one today, absolutely not.

Hiya! Been a busy time lately. Been reading threads but no time to post. But still on with money saving, living frugally and 😾still spending!! Great thread name @DirtyGertiefromno30

Holidaysandchocolate · 04/07/2026 20:04

Thanks for the new thread.

I need to get back onto the frugalness as my casual job now pauses until November so need to save a bit more on the day to day. Will be nice to only do one job for a bit though.

The last and next few days have not been frugal as I bought theatre tickets (hoping we get to see Sam Ryder perform) and we need to pay our holiday balance.

DinoLil · 04/07/2026 20:32

I'm new here but I've been a bit spending mad recently.

Today I bought some lavender plants to be delivered and one of those supermarket Indian meal deal things in a bag.

Yesterday, I bought stake wotsits for my new veg plants.

I'm stuck indoors and need to reign in my spending! I dont have money to throw about and hope it grows in the diaguise of a tomato or snack cucumber plant 😬

RosalieRosa · 04/07/2026 20:35

Oh hello - may I join you please? I am a frugal person (or trying to be at least)!

Oh lord! The pressure 😂😂. But thank you for the welcome 🙏

I had an almost no spend day today by cunningly not leaving the house. But I did buy a couple of secondhand paperbacks for the summer. Not too bad though...

I have a rose bush in my garden which today has produced its first roses, so that is exciting. I would also like some lavender at some point.

I personally love scotch eggs. I don't like the sound of a piccalilli one though....but I think I have had one with a small quantity of black pudding (I know that is not for everyone!) in the sausage and it was very nice. I want to try making my own some time but think I might be the only person in the house who would eat them 🤔, so maybe not worth the effort for now.

Ovoemconserva · 04/07/2026 21:06

@RosalieRosa
Your favourite tea bag?

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/07/2026 21:07

@DinoLil l bought a curry bag from Morrisons it was only £5.50 for 2 curries , onion bargees , 2 nans and a rice for 2 . I thought it was an excellent price . Hope you aren't permanently stuck indoors lovely 🤗

Your favourite tea bag?

My favourite tea is punjana by thompsons I think. Just plain black tea. Pretty strong 💪

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/07/2026 21:09

I would love to make my own Scotch eggs @RosalieRosa . Your roses sound beautiful ❤️.

Love the rose blooming for the first time. Magical.

Love a Scotch egg although it has to be veggie.

Naturally I like yorkshire tea! I mean, of course 😂

Yes, it is lovely to see the roses. Some pesky ants were at it yesterday though and we get a lot of black fly round here. I have sprayed it with some soapy water to deter them!

Hello. I would like to join please. For accountability mostly.

I am sixty, with two adult DC living in London. DD is sort of OK financially, but DS has very low pay and so needs regular support.

I lost a huge amount of weight in the last 18 months using Mounjaro, and have spent A LOT of money on Vinted buying way too much replacement clothing.

My aims are:

To wean myself off my Vinted habit
To improve my savings in the hope that I might be able to retire at 63 (fairly unlikely but worth a shot)
To fritter less money on silly little things so I have money available when I/DC really need it for something important.

Apologies if the big introduction is unnecessary or boring, I just imagine posters are here with quite different backgrounds/stages of life/aims but all needing help. ❤️

edited to add, I have a climbing David Austin rose and only drink Yorkshire tea!!

Welcome!
We are very tolerant here apart from when it comes to the tea.

RumBananaSundae · 05/07/2026 20:17

Spent £8.10 today. Most of that was random Asda yellow stickers. In the freezer now and will do quite a few meals.

Thank you for the new thread @DirtyGertiefromno30.

Welcome to the new faces.

Glad you had a lovely lunch out @Frugal25.

I love lavender @DinoLil. A very good choice. Though I think I’d love a plant that sprouted cash a whole lot more.

RosalieRosa · 05/07/2026 20:23

Evening all

I almost had a no spend day and then got asked to donate to a collection by some other school mums. I donated £3 which was about right in the circumstances.

Statsinyoureyes · 05/07/2026 20:34

Hello again all! Ho hum. A not very frugal weekend but a nice one! School fair for the kids was in Friday night and I didn't want to deprive them so we had a go at the stalls and had food from the burger van - probably spent 25 quid all in. Saturday i was working in the day, but then had to nip to aldi to buy washing liquid and decided to buy myself a couple of cocktails in a tin and 2 beers for DH. It being Aldi though, it was cheap. Today I had to buy some new sunglasses, 13 quid from sainsbury's as I can't find mine anywhere.
