I have given hundreds and hundreds of pounds of clothes to the charity shops over the last few years my laziness unfortunately outweighs my frugality feel like I need 34 hours in a day not 24.

Me too. Actually your post just inspired me to put some of my DCs outgrown uniform (mostly unworn as bought just before covid lockdowns) on for sale. I could weep when I think how much money I wasted.

It will be good to hopefully get rid.

PearlsPearl · 10/09/2025 17:47

Right I did it, put the blazer on Vinted and it sold instantly within 15 mins. I’m now £30 up!

PearlsPearl · 10/09/2025 17:47

And excellent news on the cheque you didn’t expect to see @JustStopItNora

Alwayslearning25 · 10/09/2025 17:55

Well done @PearlsPearl I just listed some jeans on vinted but got no interest.... I'm planning on listing some end hand Lego but I'm not sure how best to group it. Eg big bulk, small bulk, sorted into colours/ rough themes. I'm cleaning and I've been trying to sort into sets but I'm not getting far.

Thanks! And all it took was 18 years of being taken advantage of by DH's friend and 3 months of me 'reminding' DH not to let this particular CFuckery go. Grin

(DH handed me the cheque and said 'put it in the holiday account. Never thought we would see it'. )

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/09/2025 21:07

Excellent pearls

Frugal25 · 10/09/2025 22:18

Well done @PearlsPearl
I'm the same @ChipshopPickledEgg I could weep at the thought of what I've given away and not sold but no more!
Wow @JustStopItNora !!! Enjoy the cheque!!

DD so much better thank you all. ❤️Her last medication tonight and she was bouncing off the sofa so I think it's worked!🤣

£65 in dividends paid to me today. Banked into savings
Was meant to be a NSD. But.
£1.65 on deodorant as I forgot to put some on this morning and remembered at work.
£3.50 on a drink and snack for me and my friend at lunch. What was going to be a free walk and natter, turned out to be a mad dash for cover as the heavens opened and we had to buy something to be able to sit in the cafe. Rar.

Off to Lidl tomorrow but have a smaller list than normal and I've cancelled DD play group as she gets bored there now anyway so we shall go to the pack with a picnic weather dependent.

chimichangaz · 11/09/2025 07:41

Yesterday was a spendy day in terms of the car £256 on a repair 😭

Today I’m out for lunch and shopping with friends so there will be some spends but I am being much more mindful about my spending this month (hope that doesn’t come back to bite me….)

Sent in the paperwork for my other DB pension yesterday and also replied to the pension company who are denying responsibility for the massive delay in my private pension transfer. Was glad to get those two off my list - also now need to prepare for the submission to the ombudsman.

Edited to add that my appeal against my parking fine has been refused - think I’m going to accept defeat and pay the £60.

Frugal25 · 11/09/2025 10:48

Oh I'm sorry @chimichangaz that's a blow. They make me so cross. Just want our money and refuse any chance of not taking it. Well done on the rest and enjoy your lunch!

£82 in Lidl. Added a few bits to the list and added more to the trolley when in store. Can't seem to resist bumping that total up to £80 can I?!

Sun shining here so got the washing out on airers to grab quickly in case of rain and just off to the park to enjoy it. Grass is looking gorgeous due to yesterdays downpour.

MaryGreenhill · 11/09/2025 11:46

Morning everyone 🌞
Sorry about the fine being upheld @chimichangaz bless you 🤗
So glad your DD is better @Frugal25 bless her ❤️
NSD for me hopefully if l can keep off Vinted 🤣🤣🤣
You did warn me 😁
Well it's still sunny here so we are off for walk along the canal 🤗
Mum was marvellous there despite having her COVID jab yesterday 😊
Hope everyone has a great day 😊

Morning all.

Spendy day for me today. - well more than I expected.

£18 brunch with a friend.
circa £10 after school club for DS1

needastrongoneagain · 11/09/2025 14:04

Morning.

Great new re the blazer @PearlsPearl. One of the things re Vinted I find is if something sells quickly, you probably could have got more for it. I do this more often than not but I honestly and genuinely don't care about making an extra few quid, I'd rather make the amount I am happy with and get rid of the item. I see stuff on there for months and think it's overpriced. That said, I've only item on there at the minute, it's on for a quid and is a brand new work out technical top!!

Great news re the cheque @JustStopItNora. Sort of 'free' money. I know it's not - but things like this feel like it!

Spends
£44 tickets for a distillery trip next week. Unbelievable customer service re accessibility for DH, they are reducing the numbers on the tour and phoned me to ask about his specific requirements, will clear areas, make sure seating is appropriate etc.
£90 shopping. We are getting through a lot of food but 4 adults are eating all our meals from the cottage and I prioritise eating well.

Easy day walking in the estate grounds today or local area.

Alwayslearning25 · 11/09/2025 15:49

Yes, I'm probably not frugal enough to put up items for £1 on vinted. I think the only clothes I've sold have been frugi. I got a good price for a chess set though.

JustStopItNora · 11/09/2025 19:45

I've just signed up for Vinted. I have never got to grips with selling things online so this is a steep learning curve for me!

I am going to dip my toes in slowly. Any top tips for sellers gratefully received!!

JustStopItNora · 11/09/2025 19:48

@needastrongoneagain it DOES feel like free money you are right!!

MaryGreenhill · 11/09/2025 19:49

Oh well done on joining the Vinted gang @JustStopItNora😁

chimichangaz · 11/09/2025 20:10

Thanks all re the parking fine - you win some you lose some!

@needastrongoneagain that’s great re the accessibility for your DH - must take a load off your minds and I’m sure he’ll enjoy it more!

Received a pair of leopard print trousers off Vinted today and I love them. Perfect condition. I’ve seen a few things today while shopping where they didn’t have quite the right size or colour and thought ‘I’ll check Vinted’ 🤣🤣

Not too spendy a day - just £3 in a kitchen shop on a small (teeny tiny) measuring cup, lunch at Carluccios (very yum - me and my friend covered our other friends bill as it is her birthday soon) and then some wine and snacks. There was a time when I’d have bought stuff ‘just because’ so I’m glad I’m being more mindful!

Unescorted · 11/09/2025 21:47

I am just going to slide back in.... Dh got a tax rebate & bought me a laptop - several years after my old one died. I can find you again!

@ememem84 glad to see you are out the other side. @needastrongoneagain which distillery. Service like that needs celebrating.

Tell me about these free energy hours with Octopus peoples.... How do I find out when they are?

@Retiremenbeckons - you & me both. I am finding it all a little scary, but hoping that the extra time will mean I can reduce the convenience s[ends.

chimichangaz · 12/09/2025 07:36

@Unescorted octopus send out an email usually the day before to tell you about any free hours - they also do hours where you can earn points by using less energy (although not had many of those lately)

Vinorosso74 · 12/09/2025 07:58

Thankfully, a much less spendy week here. Did a top up shop yesterday, bought a birthday present for a friend then am seeing another friend later. Hoping for a low spend weekend though I am going to book train tickets to my parents again.

I'm waiting to find out what work I've been allocated for the autumn which will help me budget.
I need to sort through my wardrobe to see what my autumn and winter clothes are like. I think I need some new jeans, coats are ok, jumpers unsure....

Frugal25 · 12/09/2025 08:22

So it should have been a NSD as I'm at work and have everything I need for lunch and dinner. But. I smashed the glass filter jug didn't I. So bought another at £57. Ouch.
That pushed me into overdraft which wasn't great. OH has given me £100 to cover it and some of the bits I've been buying DD for Christmas which is lovely and I'm very grateful.
Very much hoping that's it now.

Yesterday we popped to the park and then did a lovely play date. Both free and DD had so much fun. Made me realise I don't need to spend money to make her happy. I'm guessing that will change as she gets older but age 3 it works 😂

Happy Friday all!!! Whooooo

FirstCuppa · 12/09/2025 08:30

Just swinging by to say Poundland are closing down online - they've an Oral B electric toothbrush on there for £10 which I thought someone might like or want as an early Christmas gift. Also strong bin bags for £1 and some Nivea facewash.

I've been doing porridge oats in a kilner jar with milk in the fridge this week and finding I can use that as a filling meal with some fruit or just a blob of Nutella and cinnamon heated for a bit in the microwave. If I am home at lunch it has become a super fast go to anyway!

I was thinking the same re the points - I haven't "spun the wheel" for months either. I only ever won 2p but it was at least exciting that they might take a tenner off.
