I bought a 2nd hand flower fairies book for my daughter, £11 my colleague loved them as a child and recommended them when I said my 7 year old is really into 'fairies in the garden'.

I also spent £13 on 2 sessions of toddler gym yesterday and next week. We didn't pack a lunch box so also £6.50 in the cafe, chips and a hot chocolate. I have had 2 hot chocolates out this week so I'll stop that...and £4 on a too good to go muffin break bag.

Today I shouldn't need to spend and money. I'm working this Sunday, an overtime shift.

MaryGreenhill · 16/10/2025 06:51

Good morning everyone 🤗
@Alwayslearning25 AHH the flower fairies are just gorgeous 😍 hot chocolates are one of the little things that get me through Winter tbh with you but l don't buy them out . We have one in the evening l buy a huge tin of chocolate from Costco and we used that 😁.
Hope you have a bit of a rest today you sounded exhausted yesterday @chimichangaz.
Great stuff with the tyre warranty too 👍👏🤗.
@Frugal25 AHH you are welcome sweetheart , l would get the full fat version especially for the DC , they are creamier and the texture is nicer. l am not sure about a yogurt maker tbh l have never made them . Good luck 🤞
Going to declutter today , so NSD for me. l am not going anywhere . I have to get rid of stuff before l can organise the Christmas presents and sort myself out 🤗
Have a lovely day everyone 😊

Afternoon.

@BigSkies2022 don’t feel guilty, the use of resources has not been decided upon by yourself, and you not using the pass wouldn’t make an iota of difference. Enjoy!

you okay @lifelongfrugaleer?

Hope your mum is okay @Frugal25

Spends today
Moving some money into our investment pot but not technically spending, rather putting resources in a better place to grow long term.
£20 on brownie and coffee at a local coffee shop where we went for a walk. Surprised to find we’ve spent nearly £35 ‘eating out’ this month. I’ve only allowed for £40. Shows how it adds up. We’ve only had a couple of coffee out but I usually buy extra brownie for the DC.

RumBananaSundae · 16/10/2025 18:57

£5 spend today in Sainsbury’s. And paid the credit card too. Can’t remember how much but it was random Amazon things over the past month.

South London @BigSkies2022. I’m quite envious of your National Gallery visit. I love going there. Once I’m up and about I’ll be heading to Radical Harmony. I had a yogurt maker (EasiYo) a few years ago. I’m not sure it worked out cheaper than buying yogurt.

I’ll get there @Frugal25. Thank you. Trying to get through the rough stuff and hoping there’s something better at the end. Sorry I missed your mother being poorly. Fingers crossed she’s on the mend.

Hope the antibiotics kick in soon @lifelongfrugaleer.

Good news on the extended warranty @chimichangaz.

Keep thinking today is Friday so tomorrow might be a shock. Am planning on spending the evening thinking about what to do in Paris next month. Think I might be being a tad optimistic that I’ll make it but it will be something pleasant to occupy myself with tonight.

HP87 · 16/10/2025 20:17

Almost a NSD but I've got a couple of coldsores appear and my cream is out of date! So ordered some of that.
Sold the children's wardrobe and changing table/drawers. DS is very confused where his furniture has gone and demanded we build his new stuff tomorrow, but it doesn't arrive for another week yet 😂. We only got £20 in the end as some of the cam nuts broke as we took it apart but the guy still wanted it and will sort out new ones for them.
I'm glad we made the money and it's gone straight into the decorating pot!

Alwayslearning25 · 16/10/2025 21:26

I'm trying to loose weight so go for mont tea as my evening drink but might need to buy hot chocolate to have at home once a week or something. The one I had in the cafe yesterday was the melted chocolate on a spoon type and very nice.

Work (in a hospital) is looking volunteers to cover the evening (5-9) next week... it's normally a late start shift but they are asking for overtime...I could do it for more pay but I have dropped a workday to spend time with family. I have the whole of half term booked off though so... choices choices.

Frugal25 · 16/10/2025 22:09

Oh I get cold sores too @HP87 a blinking annoyance. Hope they heal soon.

Oohhh flower fairies. I loved these!!!! Hope she enjoys @Alwayslearning25

Feeling more rested today @chimichangaz ?

Mum is so much better, a few health niggles but being looked after and that's all we can ask for.

£73 in Lidl today. I did buy a birthday present and two Christmas cupboard food items in that too. Oh and flowers for mum.

£6 on play group and £1.80 on Mini cheddars from the vending machine after swimming.

£10.14 on petrol. Tried to hold out but the rest light came on. Poop.

So glad tomorrow is Friday. Bring it on I say.

chimichangaz · 16/10/2025 22:24

Good to hear updates from all of you - and thanks for asking, I’m feeling much more rested today. Lights out before 10 last night and my sleep app rated me 100% sleep quality! Have caught up with last night’s traitors and slow horses and just watched tonight’s traitors.

No spend today but I keep thinking of things I’d like to buy and adding them to a list!!

Tomorrow I will at least have my haircut to pay for and I’ll probably return library books so that will be a car park cost. But I feel I’ve done well this week eating out of the freezer so my grocery budget is quite healthy.

pistachiosanscream · 16/10/2025 22:31

@lifelongfrugaleer sorry to hear you are unwell. I hope it passes soon and don’t forget to take some probiotics after your antibiotics

@BigSkies2022 enjoy your holidays and free travel! You have earned it.

I too am feeling the increased cost of kids activities @HP87 and @Johaanah ive made friends with some of small child’s friends mums and this has meant an increase in activities. Nothing very expensive but still an increase though one I’m currently happy to pay. I’m an introvert myself and know that it’s important for small child to facilitate meeting up and I also like making new friends so this works now.

@needastrongoneagain1 enjoy this period, you have deserved it.

@Frugal25 i hope your mum gets better soon and well done on getting the doll replaced.

glad you are better rested today @chimichangaz

hang in there @RumBananaSundae these dark days will pass.

when I last posted I thought I was done spending but forgot I had to pay for the next terms swimming lessons so €78. Yesterday was €15.50 on dinner at a pizza place with small child and their friends mums. Today was €60 on treats for party bags. And I have to get more! There are 24 in her class and some of the, have small siblings who will also come to the party so want to give them one too. Then we have the family party so treat bags for that too.

needastrongoneagain · 17/10/2025 06:53

Morning.

Good stuff for organising small child’s social activities @pistachiosanscream, it’s really hard if you’re introverted. Completely understand. I’m social, but enjoy small groups and not big crowds and events.

Made another £20 on Vinted so will post that item today.

£100 Ocado.

Should be a NSD otherwise (groceries are from my pots), although I need to get some cash out for a 18th, unless I get said persons bank details. I have a presents pot too!

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/10/2025 07:57

I’m feeling better today. It’s a UTI another meno present. Been WFH all week so not much spending & not much movement either.

I was introverted and still am to a certain extent but went to the same groups and Magdeburg some lovely friends I’m out with tomorrow. Dd was 18 last week

£167 Sainsbury’s fml. Still Need to do Lidl as well for the stuff I refuse to pay Sainsbury’s prices for. Tbh it’s more convenient this week

i have however got my Xmas eve slot. Which is currently a bottle of champagne 😂

MaryGreenhill · 17/10/2025 08:51

Good morning everyone ☀️
Glad to see you got your priorities right @lifelongfrugaleer🤣
So glad you are feeling better 🤗
Now l have a query and l wondered if anyone here can help me please 💐
I have had DH on daily Turmeric for a few years now .
He has suddenly started itching and bleeding when he scratched too much . I thought it was from the Turmeric and took him off it never dreaming he would be devasted by the stiffness and aching he is feeling now . So l am wondering if anyone uses anything for their joints and general stiffness like Cod liver oil , Glucosamine etc . What works for you that you wouldn't be without ? .
Thank you for your replies ☺️

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/10/2025 10:24

I use turmeric and have itchy skin but never put the 2 together. edited to add mines a meno side affect again

MaryGreenhill · 17/10/2025 10:37

Hello, can I join? I need to be more mindful with my spending and hope I get some inspiration and support.

MaryGreenhill · 17/10/2025 15:21

Hi @FurForksSake yes of course, join in ,everyone is so lovely here 🤗

OP posts:
pistachiosanscream · 17/10/2025 17:28

UTIs are awful @lifelongfrugaleer i hope you get it cleared up soon. I will always be introverted but do appreciate good company and know as it doesn’t come naturally to me that I have to work at it.

@MaryGreenhill well done on the NSD. I know my brother in law wears copper bands at his wrist to help with inflammation.

welcome @FurForksSake we are a happy little group here so I hope you will join in

ive spent all my vinted balance but in general very happy with my purchases, anything that’s not been good I’ve listed myself and so far they are selling. Today I spend €23 on more treats for small child’s parties. 48 treat bags made. Then I spent €3 on vinted as I hadn’t enough in my balance.

And the whopper €1734 on flight to lanzarote for February mid term my mum will repay me €450 as her portion. Still an expensive holiday. However my mums 82 and I want to spend these holidays with her while we can.

MaryGreenhill · 17/10/2025 17:43

Oh that's lovely and well worth the money for you all to get together. I hope you all have a wonderful time 💗
Thank you re my DH l didn't think about a copper band and he likes wearing things on his wrists, he wears the charity bands all the time 🤗 @pistachiosanscream

OP posts:
Frugal25 · 17/10/2025 18:19

Oh @MaryGreenhill I hope you and your DH find something soon. I don't take anything but had heard good things about both tumeric and cod live oil. Oh and the copper bands too. They are meant to be very good.

@pistachiosanscream I'm also an introvert and like you find it hard but I do it for my DD. Painful at times to be seen to be chatty etc.

@lifelongfrugaleer get better soon darling

@FurForksSake welcome! Come join us!

NSD today. Whoop. Got a free brekkie at work and sold another item on vinted. So glad it's Friday. Currently making homemade pizza with a topping of three different cheeses that needed using up, homegrown tomatoes and jalapenos that also needed using up. So hungry!
And I knew this month would be good for my waist line. I've lost half a stone. Needed. Just another 1.5 to go!

RumBananaSundae · 17/10/2025 18:46

Spent just under £4 in Waitrose. It included some yellow stickered rolls for supper.

Sorry about the cold sores @HP87. Hope the cream works it’s magic and they clear soon.

Get you and the sleeping @chimichangaz . Glad you’re feeling much more rested.

Thank you @pistachiosanscream . I hope so. Great on the small child activities. I’m not the biggest social butterfly so well done. Have a wonderful holiday.

Glad you’re feeling better @lifelongfrugaleer . UTIs are no one’s friend.

I have no words of wisdom about the turmeric @Frugal25 and I do hope it gets sorted out. I’d be interested to hear about the joint things that people take/do. Sounds like you’ve lucked out on those leftovers. Free is always good and well done on the Vinted.

Welcome @FurForksSake.

Had a day of two halves really. Whatever was happening with the guy isn’t. Am upset and feel so foolish and angry with myself but well. Had a few legal bits to do so am nervous about that starting. I sent the solicitor a question and they didn’t respond so I hope that’s not a sign of things to come. Just before I logged off I had an email from an overseas head honcho (well their assistant) saying they would have a call with me about some work I’m doing. That did cheer me up a bit as work has not been fun since I’ve been back.

MaryGreenhill · 17/10/2025 19:04

Ah thank you @Frugal25, l have just decided, l am going to get some Omega 3 fish oils for him and me lol !
Well done on the Vinted sales , the pizza making and yay to the weight loss , brilliant 😁
That's marvellous you are being contacted by the head Honcho @RumBananaSundae 😁👏
Sorry about the solicitor not getting back to you sweetheart.
It's unknown territory for you but we are all here for you , fingers crossed for good news soon 🤞.

Evening all. Can’t believe I said yesterday was a NSD - just remembered the order I placed for Laura Geller while watching tv last night…. It was half price though so I treated myself to a kabuki brush too £29 including postage.

Today has been spendy - hairdresser £26, charity shop £8 (2 books and some Laura Geller tinted moisturiser- they often get overstocks of random stuff in! I might go back and get another one!). Library visit and £14.50 in hobbycraft on an A3 display book and a watercolour brush plus £1.20 car park. Then a few bits from Morrisons £18. I may or may not have had a Greggs sausage roll too….

Thanks @RumBananaSundae but I’m back to feeling knackered again tonight!! Will try an early night again! I think I’m getting back into the swing of not being on holiday and also working again. Lightweight 🤣

BigSkies2022 · 17/10/2025 20:29

I had joint pain, tendinitis and plantar fasciitis (basically a huge tendon in the foot that can get tight, lumpy and inflamed) and I take oestrogen, testosterone and progesterone for it. Also lots of ballet barre exercises for feet, calves and hips, yoga, Pilates and weights to build muscle and mobility around the affected joints. I hope some of this might be relevant to your DH Mary but I realise he is not a post-menopausal woman.
