Oh it's all mod cons there now @Frugal25 they even have an interactive board to order your food on , pay then go and collect it 😁

Ds would live in his wellies but he's left them at nursery. I've ordered some crocs wellies and he can wear tatty shoes to nursery.
£22 for fish and chips for the family, birthday treat and DD has fractured her wrist.

MaryGreenhill · 02/10/2025 18:37

@Johaanah I know exactly what you mean about builders. We had work done on our house a few months ago. Wonderful guys, polite and really no bother at all but I was SO relieved when they finally left and we had the house back to ourselves. It's just not the same when you've got other people in the house and are constantly making cups of tea 🤣.

I was on track for a NSD but ended up buying DH a Christmas present so £33 spent on that.

Dinner was cheap and cheerful sausage pasta.

BigSkies2022 · 02/10/2025 19:49

£63 on ddog’s haircut. 20% off usual price and he’s now ready for his holiday. Otherwise a NSD.

Spaghetti carbonara for dinner, using up some bacon and Parmesan - I am ravenous today. DH brought home some mini Montezuma chocolate bars from his work’s annual residential so might eat one of those later.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 02/10/2025 20:58

A day of absolute heart break and a day of sadness terrible senseless attack in Manchester :-(
£11 in Asda for tea bits and dog bits.

chimichangaz · 02/10/2025 23:15

Absolutely awful news today @ChipshopPickledEgg. I like to believe there is more love than hate in the world but sometimes it feels like hate is winning 💔
Not sure when I last updated but it’s been a busy week. Don’t think I’ve spent much, filled up with petrol on Tuesday, today I did a bit of shopping to fill up some household bits. I’m on my cruise on Saturday for a week (think of me rocking about in this weather!) so hopefully can spend a bit less on groceries this month.

I’ve done quite a few hours for my old employer now, and it made me feel quite stressed today. I have to log on in the morning to see if something has been actioned, and I shouldn’t be working - so I need to watch my boundaries. I think they have a tendency to think I’m back in my old job and I’m not - I’m contracted to do a specific task and I’m not paid what I was before! I’m glad I’ve only agreed up to end of October for now. I may work into November but then I’ve said I don’t want to work into December and I’m away in January. I’m very grateful for the work and it’s decent money, but I really don’t want to feel stressed again!!

Won’t post now until I’m back but I’ll try and keep up to date with you all. Hope everyone stays safe in this weather - it’s just started chucking it down here!

GameOfJones · 03/10/2025 07:37

@chimichangaz I'm so jealous of your cruise, we have one booked for next August so a while to wait but I'm really looking forward to it. Have a wonderful time!

MaryGreenhill · 03/10/2025 13:31

Good afternoon everyone 😊
What brilliant news for you both going on cruises 👏😁 @chimichangaz& @GameOfJones.
Ha 3 a wonderful time @chimichangaz forget all about your work and just chill out 🤗

Afternoon, Frugal Friends. What awful weather.

I hear you re builders. Our extension is 3 years old and the builders and contractors were lovely and very respectful and clean, but having your own home back is still wonderful when they leave.

Sorry to hear about your DD @Alwayslearning25, how is she today?

Spends in the last 2 days
£25 veg box and eggs. Enough for two weeks now as I had a few bits left.
£20 window cleaner
£5 local shop on some turkey breasts to add to our pasta dish yesterday (home made tomato and roast veg sauce)
£26 Garden Centre - pot for a plant, Christmas present of a huge box of shortbread, packet of cookies.

Business sale went through yesterday, with the monies received today, so a strange feeling overall but a load lifted.

MaryGreenhill · 03/10/2025 16:37

Wonderful news re the business sale @needastrongoneagain1 😁👏🥂

OP posts:
needastrongoneagain1 · 03/10/2025 16:43

It feels strange @MaryGreenhill, a weight lifted but emotional too. 25 years of hard graft and long hours, and probably more than a lot of a contributory factor in DH’s stroke re the constant stress. But it was our baby too, so conflicting emotions! Hopefully it will go from strength to strength and do him proud. Thanks for the congratulations 😊🙂

MaryGreenhill · 03/10/2025 17:09

It’s no wonder you feel a mix of emotions @needastrongoneagain1, after all those years and all the hard work you've both put in 🤗. I really hope it goes from strength to strength for the new owners . What you have achieved is enormous and you should feel so proud of yourselves 👏🤗

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/10/2025 17:25

The mcr attacks are senseless to me. Poor folk affected

Had to get lunch today as not made yoghurt in time. And face wash £6 ish for both

and urgh it’s wet and windy. Stupid storm

RumBananaSundae · 03/10/2025 17:53

Today I’ve spent about £15 in Waitrose. The freezer eating is not back on track. Though after getting back from the shop today I decided I wanted leftovers so didn’t eat any of the groceries I bought.

Getting a bit disheartened with the therapy. I’m doing exactly as I’m told and can’t see any progress. Managed to kick the kerb when I went out and wanted to rip my leg off. Manchester happenings were unsettling (that’s an understatement) and there were more police yesterday. It’s sad that there are any.

I do @MaryGreenhill feel utterly defeated. Exhausted and tired. Not sure how to fix things.

Thank you for the hug @lifelongfrugaleer much appreciated.

Glad it’s Friday @needastrongoneagain1. I can do nothing tomorrow without feeling guilty. I went back to work too soon. Last time I was in Paris I bought a candle and when I smell it it takes me to a happy place so I might light it tomorrow. And maybe read a book. Goodo on the sale going through. Congratulations.

Good thinking on the trainers @HP87

Sorry about your daughter’s wrist @Alwayslearning25. I hope she is ok.

MaryGreenhill · 03/10/2025 18:11

@RumBananaSundae oh bless you , l am so sorry sweetheart. You can talk to us here you know that , everyone is so supportive🤗.
If there is anything we can do to help just say 💐

Rainbow1901 · 03/10/2025 18:27

I did a top up shop today - probably more out of laziness than need though. Lidl £32.82 and Home Bargains £28.88 but did include cat food for the moggie!
Must do an audit of the freezers as I'm sure we could manage with minimal shopping until we go off on holiday in 3 weeks.

Frugal25 · 03/10/2025 22:25

I hope your beautiful candle makes you smile a little @RumBananaSundae , you deserve to be happy. Maybe the results will still come given time?
Congratulations on the sale @needastrongoneagain1 you should both be so proud of yourselves.

Gave a refund on vinted today £5.85 but got a refund from paypal of £6.99 as I cancelled the learning game for DD. She was not learning so much as playing and I didn't like her being on the screen so much. I'll use good old fashioned flash cards going forward.

Happy Friday all. I'm watching my beautiful silver birch blowing about. It's beautiful to watch but I'm not a fan of storms.

Mochi1fudge · 04/10/2025 07:16

Still wild and windy here this morning. Hope everyone is okay.

Congratulations on the business sale @needastrongoneagain

Sorry to hear it's an ongoing battle @RumBananaSundae and you enjoyed your day off yesterday.

Enjoy the cruises Frugaleers - sorry I've forgotten who's going!

Yesterday was £51.48 in Lidl and £21.48 eBay for vitiman supplements. £31 on fish and chip supper. £3.49 for an Amazon rental that DH wanted to watch, I slept through the whole thing!

HP87 · 04/10/2025 07:57

Good morning everyone. Good few days here of pretty much nsd. We have ordered most of ds2 bedroom furniture but that is from a separate pot that has been saved for. We are waiting on £300 which is the ikea wardrobe and we did not order it on the credit card! We will wait until dh pay day. We decided the wardrobe was best to wait for. Just need to order the skip but the money is there for that. I have also saved a little for bedsheets etc so when I buy for that it won't be out of Octobers pot. I'm very happy with myself!

Only other spend in the past couple of days was parking for dds dance (I take all three kids so getting round tesco to spend £5 is not what I want to be doing at 6 o clock on a weds!) and calpol in boots. With the recycling scheme. I am doing a calpol collection for dds residential trip - they'd rather have boxes of sachets to share than a bottle/box each child. So I am spending other people's money and doing the recycling scheme. Got to take the wins for being the organiser! I've got another load to do today - need one more box and I'm sure I'll find something to make it to £10 to then do the recycling again.

Should be low spend weekend. Dh is going to the football with his own pot of money, both boys are off to a birthday party that my mum is taking them to, so I get a few hours with dd. We will just have to both shop in tesco and spend £5 for the parking, but we are big on Halloween here, we get about 100 trick or treaters so I will start getting those sweets the next few weeks.

We have a volunteer day at school tomorrow so the kids will be outside for a few hours, and they love the quieter playground! And the older two get to go back into the outdoor area that is for reception children only so they love it! Ds2 get to play around with what will be his area next year! So hopefully after that we will just crash at home.

I've managed to get my gaming pot of money up to £35 so half way there 😂, will be taking a break again now!

Have a good weekend everyone ☺️

pistachiosanscream · 04/10/2025 09:00

@Alwayslearning25 your poor DD. I hope she and you are doing ok.
@needastrongoneagain1 im glad the business sale has gone through and hope the new owners take as good care of it as you did.

@RumBananaSundae this weather is also very depressing. Can you rest and cocoon this weekend a bit?

pistachiosanscream · 04/10/2025 09:10

@HP87 you are doing so well organising your funds. It must be so nice to be able to provide such a lovely room for your child and know you paid cash for it!

it’s been a little expensive the last couple of days. Thursday was looking to be a LSD with just €4 on milk and crisps but then a favourite affordable designer of mine dropped their latest collection. I had a voucher and also some coupons so spent €150 on 2 dresses. Slightly softened by getting a refund of €60 for a pair of boots that was cancelled by the seller.

i instead have used my vinted balance to buy some boots.

I then sent DH to Lidl yesterday with a short list. Now it included wine at €38 but how he spent €81 is beyond me. I see he has fallen down the high protein trap! I really must remember that he’s good to send to the local shop but not Lidl. It’s too tempting for him. We have Center Parcs next weekend so I want to have a cheap week to preserve funds for that. Though we do have a circus visit tomorrow planned but hopefully that won’t be more than. €50.

Alwayslearning25 · 04/10/2025 09:25

DD was sick this morning and DS has threadworms. Aaah. DD can't wash her hand properly with her cast. DD will have a new cast on Monday, if she's not too sick over the weekend.

Off to wash all the bedding!

Alwayslearning25 · 04/10/2025 09:26

And £26 on 2 packs of worming tablets.
