Refugees

Am I wrong to feel the people of this country are using the "Cost of Living" narrative to justify not helping migrants and refugees who seek refuge for themselves? Neglecting our British values, passing the buck to Rwanda and European countries. The attitude towards those fleeing war zones and risking everything to come to this country on harsh waters is outrageous!

I was in the corner shop today and over heard a couple of women making digs about foreigners. To make unjustified claims such as "it makes us unsafe", "we don't have jobs" or my personal favourite - "they don't integrate into society." What on earth has happened to our British values? To make others feel welcome and to help others in need of help!

Every human has a right to safety, affordable housing, food, water, education and a healthcare system. Those are all things our wonderful country can provide and quite frankly has a moral obligation to provide for those coming from other parts of the world that aren't as fortunate as us.

Right. So it's for other people to compromise their living arrangements....ok.

As would I if I could.

why would give away what we as a family has earned and built? I said I would “help” not give away anything.

I didn't ask you to give away anything.

Just a little swap- your armchair & keyboard for mine! And only 8 weeks!

You on the other hand ask the British population to give away their taxes to people you deem more deserving because they just arrived in this country as migrants.

Spectre8 · 04/02/2024 10:26

Well you are wanting to impose them but saying we should be open borders, you are by sharing people should share their unoccupied rooms.

You are wanting this country to change to have the ideals you are sharing here.

You don't want people in your unoccupied rooms...living room, dining room if you have one ...those are unoccupied rooms! But you want to impose that on other people by saying thr government should force it on other people but not you of course....who is the dictator now?

Nothing? Extraordinary claim!...
Also, have a look at how it's gone in Germany.

Germany is the same as it always was.

Ok, so let's think - maybe your young children could double up and share a room?

Bululu · 04/02/2024 10:27

The question is do they respect local values as they demand we respect theirs?

Maireas · 04/02/2024 10:27

InayaWoo · 04/02/2024 10:26

No it is not. Read about it. Seriously.

Beautiful3 · 04/02/2024 10:27

@Bululu Yes, it's easy for immigrants to scream, "racism" when white people voice fear and concerns over immigration. My great grandparents came from another country, looking for work. Even I feel like it's too much right now. My daughter is one of a few English people at her school. Majority are African, who have arrived in the UK recently. They keep telling the white kids, "you're white" as an insult. That is racism in itself. But no one will do anything to help white people because people are scared of being accused of racism. Everyone should be respectful of each other.

LadyJaneEarlGreyTea · 04/02/2024 10:27

Well give one shelter and aka them

I’m asking you as you are the one who said that refugees love the idea of western countries. If you are so sure of that you must have an idea as to why?

Is not a dictatorship if many vote for this! Many immigrants here would vote for that because they know how hard it can be! I don’t support dictatorships.

If you felt that strongly you'd get your own set up changed - you won't say why you won't get your own lot to share rooms so you're not that bothered

Spectre8 · 04/02/2024 10:28

And as a Muslim living in a 4bed house in London you are also in the top 1% in the world as you pointed out earlier that means earning over £30k which u will be to have that type of house in London

And as a muslim you should be sharing that wealth with your fellow Muslims including housing them if they are in need but you only want to cherry pick your religious values to suit you.

I’ve never requested anyone share rooms.

Millions upon millions of Muslims arrive in Europe and intergrate well. They are allowed there own beliefs and values and that should be respected.

Glad you brought that back up. Many do. Some don't. Personally I don't think my sister in law being raped at 13 and having three children while she was a child herself is a value we should be respecting. Genuinely I'm ashamed that this has happened in this country and she is not an isolated case.

Not that you're engaging with any of the real life experiences that don't fit your happy uncontrolled immigration narrative.

I do help other Muslims. The government has far more means to help them than I do and I’m not cherry picking.

What rubbish . Europe has become a cesspit , have you not seen the ghettos n France as an example . Why do you think the far right in italy is on the rise . Sweden one of the most liberal of societies now has problems . It's really not difficult to see what the common denominator here is .

Muslims in the main do not integrate.

What about the cases that happen when an immigrant or refugee is not involved? You ignore that, it’s not refugee.

With your desire for open borders how do you think things would go if millions of Europeans descended on the Middle East?

There is a massive Muslim population in Europe and most do integrate but they are entitled to their beliefs, religion and values just like you are as well!

NObody will ever answer this question. I've tried to ask it many times of many people. Why do people from non-Western countries desperately try to move to Western countries? It can't be wealth, as some of the wealthiest countries are in the MIddle East and Asia.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 04/02/2024 10:33

So you're campaigning potentially for a single person in a 2 bedroomed flat in a poor area to have to give up their spare room to a stranger while you live in a 4 bedroom house in London. Okaayyyy
