I was going to have lunch with a friend today who suggested weatherspoons (cheap and cheerful). I could not believe that their 3 small plates have increased from £10 to £15! Which led me onto thinking what else has jumped up a considerable amount product wise! We shop at Aldi so I haven't noticed a big difference YET.

Paxo stuffing - £2.40 for the normal size. Used to be so much cheaper. Went for Tesco own brand at 46p

Cadburysucks · 28/02/2023 22:37

I used to drink decaffeinate coffee in the evenings, but have switched to decaf t bags, which are still reasonable and are much nicer.
Also only do very basic shopping now as opposed to picking up lots of treats before, just find we don't miss them either.

SomersetDreams · 28/02/2023 22:39

Pirelli tyres...were £225 now £258 Outrageous!

Should also mention that I have a phone contract out with O2. I have been paying £37 a month for the phone itself and the data package. My phone bill will be increasing with the mass rise in inflation along with O2's extra charge to £43 a month! I'm due to go on maternity leave in 3 months and worrying that the money I have been saving aside is going to be no use due to the sudden increase in expenses all around! My only saving grace is that the mortgage is fixed for another four years. Worrying times ☹️

I'm with 3 and get unlimited calls , texts and data for £17.

justasking111 · 28/02/2023 22:41

I'm staying with my pay as you go Tesco phone contract. Family use what's app mostly

Poochypaws · 28/02/2023 22:44

Pom wonderful pomegranate juice - it's been going up and up and I was recoiling when it reached £4 ten months ago. Now in Tesco it is £4.80. It's only 710ml.

Fruit juice becoming more expensive than wine.

I put it back. I can afford to buy it but I refused on principal. Really feel like I am getting ripped off

ChopinandChangin · 28/02/2023 22:46

Oh my word, the prices are insane. The usuals for me … butter is £4.75 for 500g in Tesco BUT Marks own brand is £3.80 or £3.90 so well worth buying. Mostly what everyone else has mentioned … olive oil, cereals, kitchen paper, toilet roll all up.

Have just done my weekly Tesco order. In the last week a 1.7l Tropicana Orange has gone from £4.40 to £4.95. 55p in a week! Their cheddar has gone up by 20p, toilet duck up .. all these 20/30/50ps really add up. And meat, yeah its up too. Actually, what isn’t?

Poochypaws · 28/02/2023 22:46

Virgin broadband - renegotiated to £30 per month at end of last year. Feeling pleased with myself for going to the bother of doing this. Email last week - they are putting it up to £39. That's a 30% increase in 6 months.

justasking111 · 28/02/2023 22:46

I'm boycotting Heinz completely they're taking the Mick. ASDA tomato soup 65p and just as nice

Fedupmum21 · 28/02/2023 22:47

My biggest shock is Lidl kids yogurt pouches, the four pack in the purple packaging- they were 75p a packet for YEARS and now they are £1.25!! 50p increase 🙃I really begrudge buying them now but my daughter loves them

Littleguggi · 28/02/2023 22:47

Weetabix minis £3.50, previously was £1.99 during lockdown from b&m
Dove soap £3.50 for X6, previously £2

Not just price increases but places like Morrisons have stopped sending vouchers for 25% off cheese for eg, lucky now if I get the odd 10% off cleaning products

Propertyhuntingsucks · 28/02/2023 22:49

Being quoted £7k for Invisalign which would have been £3.5k a year or so ago, needless to say….. no chance!

the cost of Bovril, lurpak and dog food in Morrisons! Outrageous

justasking111 · 28/02/2023 22:52

Suet... Why is atora £12.50 a kilo and Tesco half the price?

What item price increase has shocked you the most?
NormaLouiseBates · 28/02/2023 22:56

Everyfuckingthing. It's so depressing.

I'm a baker and work solely with chocolate ganache so buy it in bulk. 12.5kg last summer was £55. By Christmas it had jumped to £72. It's now £149. I genuinely almost cried. I'll have to increase my prices again and I'm already getting at least 1 enquiry a week ending up with "you're too expensive" or worse, being ghosted 🥺😢

Lidl Greek Style Yoghurt. Pack of 4 in the blue packaging. Has been 99p for years and years and years. I paid £1.59 at the weekend.

I eat a lot of mozarella. That's gone up massively too.

justasking111 · 28/02/2023 23:02

Friends in NYC say that they're being robbed too price wise. It's the same all over the USA.

Salamander91 · 28/02/2023 23:05

Frazzles! Not a dramatic increase £1 to £1.35 but they've also reduced the amount you get from 8 to 6 packs. Also bisto best now £4 for a tiny jar!

supercatlady · 28/02/2023 23:05

I picked up a cauliflower in Food Warehouse the other day but put it back down when I realised it was £2.25

pleasehelpwi3 · 28/02/2023 23:09

Smoked salmon Waitrose - now £7- £8 for 200g

JustBeKinder · 28/02/2023 23:12

Butter, margarine, Heinz soups, cat and dog food

stayathomer · 28/02/2023 23:21

All wet cat and dog food- scary prices (typically both my dog and cats won’t eat dry food without some wet mixed in!)

FrostyNethers · 28/02/2023 23:31

Tinned foods specifically baked beans and soups. Branston’s is now 90p a tin! Heinz £1.40. That left me shaken! Heinz soups are £1.70 a tin!

Traditionally staple cheap and nutritious foods for students (DS at Uni now) and people on very low incomes, elderly people with some bread for a meal a day at least. Shocking.

It’s not as if benefits and pensions have doubled.

GachaBread · 28/02/2023 23:33

I have too many products to list that are making my jaw drop.

But is anyone noticing how many product price labels are incorrect lately?

When you get to the tills the product costs more then it stated. It's like the stores can't even keep up with this madness.

It's happening to me quite a lot.

Anyone noticed the price of wine hasn't gone up??

Maybe they want us to be nice and docile whilst online shopping with a glass of 🍷 so we don't notice mmmm.....
