Anyone signed up for this? Payments for shifting your energy use away from peak times/within a given timeslot each day.

There still calculating our results apparently.

Both DD's were at rainbows So we turned everything we could off and sat with candles for light and watched our tablets. Tbh we are using the sessions to get DS who is Autistic used to it for if we do have blackouts and if we earn some money along the way then thats good.

Flapjackquack · 18/11/2022 22:15

Saved £2.04 here! Quite pleased with that. 5-6 is normally our highest energy usage though with dinner cooking etc.

ClownSchool · 18/11/2022 22:43

@NewBootsAndRanty we’re in the 6p club with you. Apparently we saved 100% of our usage too, so I guess we’re not going to improve on that at any point! 😁

Jaffacakeorisitabiscuit · 18/11/2022 23:00

We saved nothin'. Can't say I'm surprised because our usage at that time of the evening is minimal anyway (avg about £0.10 per hour) so we had nowhere to go.

LovelyBitOfSquirrel69 · 18/11/2022 23:24

42p, FFS! Well that was worth sitting in the dark for an hour. Not.

Jada1234 · 18/11/2022 23:33

I saved 99p better than nothing I guess

BarbaraofSeville · 19/11/2022 01:24

We saved 41 p which was 36% of our usage and got 328 points.

However, I think the original email oversold the potential savings as it said we could save up to £2.25 and earn 1800 points.

But if 328 points was 36% of our usage then 100% of our usage would be 911 points, so even if we turned all the electricity in the house off, we couldn't save more than that.

As it happens I didn't get back from work until after 6 pm and I didn't get round to reading the website properly or explaining the scheme to DP, but he was sitting watching TV and hadn't started cooking anything so inadvertently we did significantly reduce our electricity consumption in that hour.

Violashift · 19/11/2022 06:53

Saved £1.13 cut down by 76 percent.

Agree with pp the max isn't £2.25 for most.

MyFuckRationsAreDepleated · 19/11/2022 07:24

We saved >80%! Got £1.28.

astridforty · 19/11/2022 07:28

Failed to save - despite sitting in the dark watching a film on the (pre-charged) iPad. I even did a circuit of the house and unplugged everything, including freezer. Disappointed!

HerLadySheep · 19/11/2022 07:34

We saved £3.27! 😳
We must normally be powering the entire street, I think I need to cut down on our energy usage!
We do have an electric oven and hob and a hybrid car, all of which would probably be on between 5-6.
For us that was certainly worth the effort.

ChillyB · 19/11/2022 07:44

We saved 64p which was 85% of our usual usage. Fridge freezer and router left on and we went out. Apparently in our area people’s average saving was just over 600% of their usage though!
We’ve spent all year reducing our use though too so there wasn’t going to be a huge saving for us as we’ve already made them since the first price hike in April.

tribpot · 19/11/2022 08:39

We got 464 Octopoints or 58p. We only cut down by 16%, which is disappointing. I got an important work call just as I was preparing to shut everything down and so this probably didn't help, I think next time I might insist on the TV being off and might unplug the freezer in the garage as well (although I worry I would forget to turn it back on again).

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 19/11/2022 08:46

Cut down by 95% and earned £2.45

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 19/11/2022 08:48

That was 1960 octopoints

Hugasauras · 19/11/2022 08:55

We cut down 77% and earned £2.16. More than I thought we would get!

Hereforthedramaz · 19/11/2022 08:57

Ooh I saved 71% and got 600 points so 75p

Hardly going to make a huge difference financially but it wasn't too inconvenient to delay dinner and turn tv etc off so I'll definitely keep doing them.

Pinkflipflop85 · 19/11/2022 09:15

£1.29 not too shabby.

Shoreditchintheafternoon · 19/11/2022 09:40

30p 😂 better than nothing I suppose. We didn't try that hard though, still left things on standby and had a light on and didn't bother turning off the fridge freezer etc. We just put off cooking and watching TV for an hour.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 19/11/2022 10:15

Nothing at all and I switched everything off ; even the fridge:freezer and WiFi. Probably because I already use as little possible. Won’t bother doing it again.

BritishDesiGirl · 19/11/2022 10:30

51p saved here.

Hugasauras · 19/11/2022 10:40

We still had lights and TV on but we are usually quite big users during that hour as that's when DH has finished work and we usually get a wash and tumble dry on and cook dinner and do some chores etc, so I think that's why our results were quite good.

IncessantNameChanger · 19/11/2022 10:54

Hmm, unless they do it for more than a hour it's probably not worth the hassle. If it was two hours next time I might try turning the fridge or freezer off. I can't cut down more bit that was a short and early window for us. We don't start cooking until a bit later

gingercat02 · 19/11/2022 11:14

We saved £1:42 reduction of 80%. We don't use a huge amount at that time imo.
DS still has his PS and tv on, the router was on and I didn't switch off DH's tech so some of that will have been on standby.
Interesting.
Will see what and when the next one is.

poshme · 19/11/2022 11:30

We don't use much, but cook on electric at the time usually.

We saved £1.68 😀 so definitely worth doing. We didn't sit in the dark.
