How often do you wash your sheets/duvet cover ?

This isn’t a ‘I wear my bra for 30 minutes then change it’ boast thread.
I wash mine every week, but it doesn’t feel dirty at all, plus it’s just me sleeping in it. With the cost of ever going up would it be wrong to change it every 2 weeks ?

Wrong? Seriously? What on earth do you think might happen?

LizziesTwin · 28/08/2022 07:44

Why don’t you leave it for 2 weeks and see how you feel? Or try 10 days?

custardbear · 28/08/2022 07:44

No, every two weeks is fine in my book, unless it needs changing beforehand of course. I'm washing lightly soiled things on a 30 min wash too, and using a washing line as much as I can this summer

FourChimneys · 28/08/2022 07:46

You will get every possible response from "I set the alarm for 3 am and change the sheets. It's so manky to use the same ones all night." to "We do ours every six months if we remember."

Personally I think 2 weeks is fine especially in cooler weather. You could do just the pillowcases weekly if you liked, chuck them in with other stuff.

Holly60 · 28/08/2022 07:47

If it's just you and they look and smell clean, 2 weeks is perfect I'd say.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/08/2022 07:51

Usually every 10days -

dandelionthistle · 28/08/2022 07:52

I reckon it's fine, mine sometimes go to two weeks if I'm just too tired/other things are taking priority.

I usually do weekly too, and it's just me. The feel of fresh clean sheets is one of life's little luxuries so I'm reluctant to stretch it out, but I'm also considering it.

lydiangel83 · 28/08/2022 07:53

Was actually musing to myself the other day I’d like to do them more than every 2-3 weeks but I can be arsed lol

yonce · 28/08/2022 07:53

I think 2 weeks is fine! Give it a go and see how you feel?

We're a once a week household, because we have cats - so even with the best lint roller contraption, they need doing once a week (occasionally more in winter if a muddy moggy has arrived) 😂

gogohmm · 28/08/2022 07:54

2 weekly here, might slip in winter

Whycanineverever · 28/08/2022 07:54

Every 2 weeks here.

chillipenguin · 28/08/2022 07:55

Just leave it until you think they need a clean and then see how long that was?

chillipenguin · 28/08/2022 07:56

Every 2-3 weeks depending on what else needs washing. But tbh this winter we might end up stretching it out as long as possible - grim as it is.

Albgo · 28/08/2022 07:56

In the summer I change them more frequently (once every week or so). I'm planning on going much longer than that this winter. We're cutting back in every way possible.

KangarooKenny · 28/08/2022 07:56

I will give it a go, and wash the pillowcases weekly.

Sorry, cross post!

I'll just be turning the pillow over 🤣

trampoline123 · 28/08/2022 07:58

That's definitely fine, you could always spray with fabreeze or similar to give it a fresh up.

I do mine every 1-2 weeks but I sweat quite a lot at night and have 2 grubby toddlers.

I turn mine over many times in the night for the cool side !

Every 2 weeks here and I rotate the pillows so we have a fresh pillowcase each week.

Loving all the sane sensible answers here. I'm guessing the rabid frothers are still curled up in their daily washed sheets!

Shorter washes aren't necessarily cheaper. They use much more agitation than longer washes, so require more power. You need to check your individual washing machine's instruction book, to find out which is the cheapest wash.
